Summary
He hated gathering firewood and having to cook meals. He hated the long treks for days on end only to settle down in the middle of nowhere to rest. He hates how sometimes he couldn't tell if the grass was wet or not and would end up with uncomfortably damn clothes the rest of the day.
Most of all, he hated that Varian had oh-so-cleverly tricked him into wanting to help with those things through the use of something called "affection."
Okay, maybe the last one isn't exclusive to camping, but it still pissed him off! Who gave Varian the right to actually treat him like a person with respect? It was throwing off his entire groove of being a hardened lone wolf which was also totally ruining the mission he was on! Who does that?
In Hugo's brain, there was only one confusion: Fuck camping and fuck Varian for asking him for help because he doesn't know how to say no to the alchemist.
Or
Hugo experiences traumatic events in his past and old feelings of trauma resurface when Varian gets into danger
