mother nature, innit?

Summary:

Tommy was the reincarnated version of Mother Nature, sure, a little strange when it specifically says ‘Mother’ in the moniker but he doesn’t really see the problem in it.

He could grow all types of plants on command including trees, which came handy when he needed the wood to build something. He could terraform the land around him with his hands, and could change the weather depending on his mood.

But just because he was Mother Nature, it did not mean he would be a good flower girl for his best friend’s wedding.

Yet, here he was.

or

Tommy is Mother Nature reincarnated, the BeeDuo is getting married, and Tommy somehow ends up as the flower girl.

Notes:

lore is lightly followed, if you notice anything that doesn't follow with the events of the dsmp it's most likely done on purpose.

(for example phil and techno still being friends with tommy even after they betray each other.)

Also BeeDuo's wedding is purely platonic, alright?

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

It was another perfectly normal day on the SMP, dealing with his massive amounts of trauma whilst trying to stop the weather from becoming absolute shit. It was his main method of not going insane while trapped in the prison, distracted with keeping his emotions in check.

He digresses.

Currently he was in the middle of terraforming and fixing all the big holes in the middle of the land.

It was a rather boring task but it relieved some tension forming in his mind. Though breaking the land didn’t physically hurt him, it still somewhat hurt internally.

If you know what he means.

“Tommy!” He turned towards the voice, oh it was Tubbo and that Ranboob guy.

“Hey guys.” He greeted, looking down another creeper hole, he crushed his fist watching dirt magically appear as he opened his fist and smoothed out his palm, the dirt evened itself out turning into fresh grass. “Just working on some big men shit, you know.”

He walked over to the nearby creeper hole, holding his fist closed again.

“We’re getting married.” Tubbo announced, grinning nervously.

Tommy stuttered to a stop, his eyes widening comically large. His fist suddenly opened, making the creeper nuclear sized big.

Ranboo and Tubbo let out a yelp, and Tommy shook his head quickly, closing it up quickly.

“Sorry, sorry, you just caught me off guard.” He rubbed his face, “You- You’re getting married? To each other? Like romantically??”

Ranboo shook his head, the tips of his ears turning red, “No, no, no, oh gods, it’s more for tax purposes and because we have Michael but Tubbo wanted the wedding so.” He explains quickly.

“Huh, when’s the wedding then?”

“Two weeks.” Tubbo supplies with a cheeky grin.

Tommy furrows his eyebrows, “Two weeks? Ain’t that a little too early to plan an entire wedding?” He remembers Dream and Fundy’s wedding, it had taken Fundy almost an entire six months to finish the wedding planning.

Tubbo shakes his head, “Well, we were wondering… if you could help build the wedding venue?” He says with a nervous smile, something unseen with the usually scary ram hybrid.

Tommy pauses, pursing his lips.

“You want me to build an entire wedding venue?” He questioned, Tubbo and Rnaboo nod.

“Mhm, I'll do what I can.” He responds, turning back towards his work.

He hears his two friends cheer behind him, he hides his smile.

“Thank you, big man! I’ll send you the details over comms later!” He hums, feeling them walk away. “See you later, Tommy!”

“Yeah, bye Tommy!” Ranboo says as well.

Ah yes, the amazing sound of silence. He breathes in as he feels it all trying to unbuckle from beneath his walls, the skies darken slightly as he focuses his mind on something else, like...like, terraforming, yeah, yeah, terraforming.

He closes his eyes, feeling the ground beneath him move as he sculpted the earth like it was a ball of clay.

“Hey Tommy!”

He grits his teeth, opening his eyes. The wind sung in his ears as he looked upon the new mountain he’s created.

Oh.

It’s Philza. Flying with his nice looking wings.

He grins, “Hey Phil? What brings you here?”

Phil raises an eyebrow, “I was returning from a nether run...but what are you doing?” He points towards the newly constructed mountain.

Tommy shrugs, “Mother Nature shit, a mother never finishes their duties.” He jumps off the cliff of the mountain letting water from the ground come up to catch his fall before being absorbed back onto the ground.

Philza follows soon, landing elegantly on the ground, his wings folding behind his back.

“I heard Tubbo and Ranboo were getting married…?” His voice held confusion as he crossed his arms in front of his chest.

Tommy hums, “Yeah, they just came and asked me to build the venue for them.” He says, “Tax purposes and all, Ranboo says it’s all purely platonic.”

Phil purses his lips, “Sure...anyway, he wants me and Tech to look for pigs? I’m not sure how, but do you know anyone who owns pigs still?” Tommy thought for a moment, livestock wasn’t a common thing to have in this area, mostly because someone would come and grief it.

“As far as I know, there’s only wild pigs around these areas, and they’re pretty scarce from overkilling. I’ll have to work on that.” He mutters the last part to himself, “But, I can just create a few for you.”

Phil stares at him dumbfounded, “You...You can just make living things?”

“Duh,” Tommy looks at him like he’s the biggest fool on earth, “I’m the reincarnation of Mother Nature Phil! My past life made you! Of course I can make a few pigs.” He crosses his own arms, “Though it is very taxing on my energy, which is why I don’t do it often but I need to work on repopulation anyone, might as well practice.”

He claps his hands, “Now, stand back a little.” Phil nods, still a little shocked and steps back. Tommy spreads his arms into a circle, his eyes close and he takes a deep breath.

This process was weird-- he, as Mother Nature, adopted all their powers so the power to create new life out of nothing was in that giant list. Though, since he was in a human body, his powers were significantly weaker than if he was in an angelical body which he is on certain occasions like the creations of giant pieces of lands or a creation of a new animal.

So when it came to creating a new life, he had to focus all of his energy onto that life, cultivate it and let it grow under his gentle hands before setting it free. That’s what he did, he started off with a small soul flying freely in the air before he let the soul be taken into it’s vessel. The vessel was ready to be molded into any living creature, since he was making a pig it started turning into a baby pig.

The baby pig slowly grew into a bigger, and bigger pig until all was left was regular sized pig.

He repeated the process a couple of times before he stopped.

Four pigs, an acceptable amount, he thinks to himself.

Philza chuckles in disbelief, ruffling one of the newly created pig’s head.

“Woah, Toms, I had no idea you could do that.” He mutters, Tommy grins, pride radiating off of him.

“Cool, right?”

“So cool.” Phil breathes out, “Thanks, mate.”

The next time the whole wedding thing was brought up to Tommy, he was in the middle of a very serious chess game with Sam. The creeper hybrid had approached Tommy with a chess set in his inventory and a cheeky grin on his face.

In the span of two hours, Tommy had lost almost a stack of diamonds, three enderchest, and two saddles while also gaining a piece of chorus fruit (he doesn’t know how Sam obtained such an object), special hybrid gunpowder that only Sam could make, and five golden apples.

Whilst he was making his move, Tubbo came bursting through his hotel doors, looking around the lobby and spotting the duo in the corner.

“Tommy!”

Said boy turned towards his friend, “Hey Tubbo!”

“Hey, Tubs!” Sam greeted, “We’re playing chess, care to join?”

Tubbo shook his head, “Sorry Sam, I can’t right now. Wedding planning and all, it’s in a week. Have you gotten the invitations from Puffy yet?”

Sam nodded his head, “Came in my mail a few days ago, beautiful letters.”

“Great, but I came to give Tommy the schematics of the venue. I’m sure you remembered that you would build the venue today, right Tommy?”

Tommy pursed his lips, his mind blanking for a moment.

Oh right, he did promise Tubbo over a very rushed comms message. He was heading out to visit Niki and get a few cookies.

“Of course. Sorry Sam, duty calls.” He gets off his chair.

“No worries, I needed to head out soon anyways. Bad and Ant need help in the Pr--.” Sam cuts himself off, wincing slightly.

The clouds darken for a split second before they clear up revealing the bright blue sky.

Tommy offers a forced smile, “It’s fine. Let’s go Tubbo.”

Tubbo nods, his eyes filled with concern.

“You know, you should probably go to Puffy’s.” Tubbo says after several moments of silence, the old wood of the path creek under their footsteps.

Tommy shakes his head, “No, if I let out too much, there'll be terrible weather for a few days. I can’t stop it, only prevent it.”

Tubbo scoffs, “C’mon Tommy, it doesn’t matter if this area experiences a couple days of bad weather. You deserve to let your feelings out like the rest of us.” He sighs, “Just promise me you’ll visit Puffy at least once before the wedding? I don’t want my best man and flower girl being sad on my wedding day.”

Tommy nods solemnly before he stops walking, “Wait...did you say flower girl?”

Tubbo grins innocently, “What? No, I didn’t--”

“You did! You literally just said ``my best man and flower girl!”

“Okay fine, but it’s only because you can grow flowers on command and it would make the perfect entrance to the wedding.” Tubbo defends, laughter bubbling in his chest.

Tommy lets out an offended squawk, “Just because I can do that doesn’t mean I’ll be your damn flower girl--”

“But Tommy! It’s for my wedding! Please…”

Tommy sighs, he can never say no to Tubbo, can he? “Fine, just don’t expect me to wear a dress down the aisle.” He mumbles, Tubbo brightens as they reach an empty patch of land.

“Wasn’t expecting you to!”

Tubbo takes out a rolled up piece of paper, placing it down on a nearby table and unrolling it.

The building was large, a chapel equip to hold at least a hundred people, a reception area with a dance floor and a bar. An outdoor area with a nice sized patio, at least three bathrooms with a full sized commercial kitchen.

Tommy whistles, “Planning on having another wedding in this place or what?”

“Well, I heard Puffy and Niki were thinking of getting married! So why not just make a full wedding venue for everyone.” Tubbo chirps out, he opens a chest revealing stacks of logs, a couple stacks of glass, and much more.

“Just make the basic stone foundations, Sam and I will add the other wood foundations over the next two days.”

Tommy nods, “Right, stand back a little bit.”

Tubbo steps back.

He opens his arms, spreading wide as he closes his fist and opens it, smoothing his palm. Stones manifest as he moves his hands in strategic ways, the stone slowly piles on top of each other forming the basic shape of a future venue.

He claps his hands, as the stone harden in place before suddenly closing and opening his first, letting the dirt dig itself out a couple of blocks down.

“This is perfect!” Tubbo suddenly says, he approaches the building inspecting the stone and the sturdiness of it all.

Tommy smugly grins, “Of course, I made it!” He watches Tubbo race around the structure, with a stupidly happy smile on his face.

A warm feeling spreads through him, and the sun starts to shine brighter along with it.

“Thanks, Tommy!” And suddenly his friend was hugging him tightly.

“I’m sure Boo will love this.” His eyes sparkle as he says it.

The warmth in Tommy’s chest doesn’t subside until he accidentally plunges himself into the nearby lake.

(He was trying to build a giant cobblestone tower to assert his dominance again.)

He gets approached by Niki a few days after he builds the venue, she’s carrying a basket at her side. He was working on his dirt hurt, moving dirt and hardening it to make sure it doesn’t fall onto his things.

Connor, for some reason, was perched on one of the various chairs around the house with his cat sitting right beside him. The hybrid was watching him with lazy eyes, much like the cat.

“Tommy?” Her voice echoes into the large hut, he turns towards the front door.

“Niki?” He responds with a confused tilt to his voice.

“Oh, you are home!” Niki smiles, “I was wondering if you wanted to help decide the food for Bee N’ Boo’s wedding! I need new opinions.” She cranes her next and spots Connor, “And you can join Connor!”

Connor preens at the information, Tommy rolls his eyes.

The three settle on a stone table outside that Tommy had made a week earlier. Niki placed her basket onto the table, unveiling various dishes that somehow fit inside the basket.

“Tubbo and Ranboo asked for some cookies so I made three different types.” She presented three different plates of cookies-- one was chocolate chip, other was vanilla, and the other was completely chocolate.

Connor grinned, grabbing one of the chocolate chips while Tommy settled for the vanilla.

The cookie was delicious, well obviously it was, Niki made it.

“Mhm…” Connor smiled, “This one is so good, you’ll be crazy not to use it. I feel like the complete chocolate will be too sweet but the chip one is the perfect balance.”

Niki nods, “What about vanilla?”

Tommy nods, “It’s delicious, but Tubbo hates vanilla. Says it’s too basic.” Niki furrows her eyebrows.

“Really? Tubbo didn’t mention that?”

He hums, “Well has his best friend, he mentioned it a few years ago.”

Niki nods, a thoughtful look on her face, “Good to know. I guess I’ll go with the chocolate chip then.” She grabs the plates and puts them back before taking out two different bottles.

“I need to know...red or white wine?” She asks Connor, who purses his lip.

“I personally like red wine, but some good ol’ white never hurt anybody.”

“Mhm, I’ll make sure to take plenty of both types. Right, thanks guys! I need to head over to Snow Chester for some cake testing with the couple.” Niki smiles brightly, “I’ll see you two at the Wedding!”

Tommy waves as he watches her slowly disappear from his view. He turns towards Connor who was staring intently at Tommy.

“What?” He asked the adult.

“If you were to ever have kids, would they call you mom or dad?” The question was random, but oddly Connor so he shrugs.

“I don’t know, it wouldn't matter to be honest. It’s the same shit isn't it?”

Connor nods thoughtfully, “Yeah, I guess it doesn’t.”

They fall into a comfortable silence.

“So I heard from Sam that you were supposed to be the flower girl?” There was definitely a smirk on Connor’s face even if Tommy wasn’t facing him.

“Shut.” He responds, “I can’t resist Tubbo’s puppy eyes, he was practically on his knees begging me to give him the perfect entrance to his wedding! What was I supposed to do? Say no? I’m not heartless.”

“Make sure to throw some Alliums in there.” Is all Connor says before getting up from his chair and walking away, his cat following soon after.

Connor was a strange one for sure, Tommy mused.

He turns back to his hut, continuing his renovation.

He was so absorbed in the wedding and all the preparation that he forgot his promise to Tubbo about therapy.

….Oops.

The day before the wedding was upon them and all the attendees were staying at his hotel for the night. He was attending to one of Jack Manifold’s various needs on the lobby floor, everyone already up in their rooms getting settled for the night.

“No, Jack, we do not offer 24/7 service because there’s only two employees here.” He tries to explain to the man, “You should know this! You used to work here!”

Jack scoffed, crossing his arms. His eye mask on top of his shaven head, “Well I worked there when it was brand new! I assumed you would have ramped up the employees by now.”

“No one stays in hotels! We don’t need more than two employees!”

“Why did you make one in the first place?!”

Tommy rolls his eyes, “Well why did I, Jack?” He seethes, even in the night sky the clouds covering the various stars and moon could be seen as thunder crackled in the distance.

“Woah, woah,” Ranboo interjected, a nervous chuckle escaping his mouth, “Uh, Jack, why don’t you head to sleep. You’re one of Tubbo’s groomsmen, you need to be there for him tomorrow.”

Jack takes a deep breath before heading out the elevator to his floor, the clouds slowly disappearing as Tommy calms down.

“Thanks, Ranboob.” He mutters, turning away from the enderman hybrid.

“It’s Ranboo but…I need a favor.”

Tommy hums, “What is it?”

“Uh, I need the rings.”

It goes quiet for a second as Tommy slowly turns to Ranboo, eyes wide.

“What do you mean you don’t have the rings yet! The wedding’s bloody tomorrow!” He yells incredulously, Ranboo shushes him as he looks around the lobby.

“Well, I did! I swear I did but Tubbo mentioned earlier today that he wanted gold rings with a black rim but I got complete gold rings and I can’t let him down.” Ranboo rambles, as his hand glitches.

Tommy sighs in relief, “Right, okay, you could have started with that. Jesus, Ranboo, I thought you were about to lose my respect.” He clears his throat, “Gold rings with a black rim?”

Ranboo nods, and he opens his palm, putting his other hand over it.

He closes his eyes, focusing his energy on the small ring forming in his mind. A few seconds later he opens his eyes, and lifts his hand away from his palm.

Two gold rings with a black rim, he grins.

“I’m really carrying this relationship aren’t I? You two would be gone without me.”

Ranboo looks like he could almost cry as he gingerly accepts the ring, “Thank you so, so much.” He shoves the ring into his pocket, “See you tomorrow, Tommy!” He smiles as he boards the elevator.

Then he’s left in silence once again, he sits down on the small chair near a window staring up at the stars.

It was almost as if the stars were staring back at him.

Slowly a small allium forms at his feet.

Ah yes, wedding day.

A day that was weirdly emotional.

People were already sitting in their seats at the pews.

Tubbo had two groomsmen-- Tommy (him) and Jack while Ranboo had three-- Techno, Phil, and Niki.

He was of course Tubbo’s best man while Techno was Ranboo’s.

Right now he stood in Tubbo’s changing room, calming down his panicking friend.

“Tubbo, you need to calm down. Look, Ranboo might be a little strange, sure, but he’s a good guy.” He squeezes Tubbo’s shaking shoulder, “And that’s a lot coming from me.”

Tubbo shook his head, “No, no, no, it’s not him. It’s me, I’m a fraud, I tell you about how you need to deal with your trauma, but I haven’t even thought about mine.”

“Tubbo…”

“I haven’t thought about my...my second death since it happened, I can’t look myself in the mirror, Tommy.” His breath shakes, “I’m just as broken as you, I don’t know if Ranboo wants someone so broken.”

Tommy hugs his friend so tightly.

It wasn’t often that the two discussed their past, they mostly kept the past in the past and never relieved it.

Tubbo had long forgiven Techno, instead blaming his death on Schatt which was why the piglin was even invited to the wedding. But the phantom pain, the scars, the emotion, it was all still there.

Tommy felt the same-- he couldn’t stay in a room full of blackstone without getting flashbacks or be kept inside a small room for too long without panicking.

“Tubbo, he doesn’t think that at all. He’s got his own shit too, Tech told me about it. You two will help each other, so please, don’t stop the wedding.”

Tubbo nods hesitantly against Tommy’s shirt sleeve, detaching himself from Tommy.

“Sorry.” He says quietly.

“It’s fine, Tubs, you always overthink everything when you’re nervous.”

A knock on the door brought the two out of their conversation, “Guys, the wedding starts in two.” Jack spoke through the door.

Tubbo hurriedly wipes at his face, and straightens out his suit.

“How do I look, big man?”

Tommy gives a soft smile, “Amazing as always.”

No one would ever speak about this moment. Ever. Again.

He holds in a groan as the chapel doors open and he lets the roots as the corners of the room extend and sprout all types of flowers. Flowers start raining from the sky as everyone gasps and looks up at the ceiling, he reaches the end and goes to the next to Sam who was acting as the officiant.

Jack and Niki walk through next, all smiles and all as they jog down the aisle childlike.

They break apart when they meet the edge of the aisle and Jack joins Tommy. Everyone stands as the first groom walks through the door, Ranboo with Technno at his side.

The enderman hybrid is awkwardly staring at the floor as Techno leads him to his spot.

Too bad for those enderman traits.

Ranboo takes his place in front of Sam as Tubbo and Phil walkthrough. Tubbo is smiling so happily that Tommy was afraid that his cheek would hurt afterwards.

Ranboo and Tubbo meet at the end of the aisle, and Ranboo smiles slightly.

“Hi guys,” Sam begins, “Today we welcome the kinda holy platonic matrimony of Ranboo and Tubbo.”

“Anyone opposed to the problem, speak now or forever hold your peace.”

Silence followed, Tommy grinned.

“Well, now for the groom’s vows.” He points towards Ranboo and Tubbo.

Tubbo speaks up first, “I’ll go first...um, Ranboo. When I first met you, I almost kicked you in the shins because I thought you were an enderman.” Everyone chuckles, “But soon enough we became good friends, you helped me build Snow Chester and now we have Michael.”

Michael who had been sitting on the pews next to Puffy in a boat, squealed excitedly, waving his little arm in the air.

“And when..when Tommy went missing, you helped me not immediately burn everything within a 50 mile radius.” Tommy smiled softly, “I don’t know where I would be without you.”

Ranboo smiled nervously, “Woah, how do I follow up from that.”

“Well, for starters, Tubbo, when I first met you, I thought you hated me. It’s not just from you trying to kick me but from the glares that you sent my way. I soon found out from Tommy that you look at everyone like that.”

“But at the time, I literally could not remember anything past 5 seconds. I kept forgetting everyone's names, but you helped me remember. Now I can remember everyone's names, and where everything is, I don’t know what part of the world I would be wandering aimlessly without you, Tubbo. I’ll go through hell and back to make sure my best friend is safe.”

Tommy clapped his hands, a smile never leaving his face.

“Way too go! Woo!”

Ranboo and Tubbo chuckled as Sam cleared his throat, “Now, will the best man bring the rings?” Sam glances at Tommy, who nods and grabs the pillow next to him with two rings and waits for the grooms to grab one ring each.

“Great, now repeat after me: With this ring,”

“With this ring.”

“I bewed you.”

“I bewed you.”

The slide the ring onto their fingers.

“Do you Ranboo take Tubbo as your beloved platonic husband?”

Ranboo looks down at Tubbo, smiles, and says, “I do.”

“Do you Tubbo take Ranboo as your beloved platonic husband?”

“I do.” Tubbo speaks softly.

“By The power vested in me, I now present you Bee N’ Boo!”

The crowd claps happily, and Tommy can now say he’s witnessed the weirdest wedding ever.

When Tubbo approached him about being his best man for the wedding, at the time, Tommy thought nothing of it. It was obvious he was one of Tubbo’s closes friends, why wouldn’t he be the best man.

But he didn’t realize he would have to prepare a best man’s speech which is why right now he is so caught off guard by Tubbo’s sudden announcement.

“Now a speech from my best man, Tommy!”

Tommy nearly spills his apple juice on his tux.

He laughs nervously standing up from his chair and staring at the crowd.

“Hi, everybody.” Tommy takes a final gulp of juice before clearing his throat, “To start off, Tubbo is Tubbo, he’s chaotic and has scarily mastered the art of fake naiveness. He’s my best friend, and he’s been through it all with me. Now, of course, me being me, was a little skeptical about this whole marriage thing with Ranboob.”

Ranboo splutters, Tommy continues, “But those, huh, I don’t know what the hell they have. They compliment each other, and if Ranboo dares hurt my best mate Tubbo, then I will send every single plant in the world after him until they drench his pathetic little body with--”

Tommy.” Tubbo cuts in with a glare.

Tommy chuckles, “Anyways, what I mean to say is that congrats Tubbo and Ranboob. I hope you don’t mess it all up.” He sits back down and grins.

He nailed that speech, surely.

(He ignores the glare that Tubbo is sending his way and the way Ranboo seems slightly traumatized.)

Yes, he indeed did good.

So how does one follow up an incredibly weird wedding? Go to therapy of course!

He’s currently sitting in Puffy’s very comfy couch waiting nervously as she puts a few cookies on the coffee table in front of him.

She smiles kindly, “Tommy, Tubbo I’m glad you two were able to come. I know it’s been a long time coming.”

A hand squeezes his shoulder, Tubbo nods seriously.

“It’s some time coming.” Tubbo responds.

“Let’s get started, shall we?”

If there was horrible weather for the next week, then no one mentions it especially as Tommy and Tubbo bounce around the area with the childlike wonder they all thought they’ve lost.

Mountains keep popping up, it’s all in a day’s work of TommyInnit, Mother Nature himself.

Notes:

I HAVE TO SAY I LITERALLY DO NOT HOW WEDDINGS ACTUALLY GO SO DON'T TAKE THAT TOO SERIOUSLY PLZ
