Aching for Eternity

Summary:

“I haven’t seen you this interested in someone in foreverrrrrrr. Are you sure you don’t want to try and pursue them? Hell forbid they end up dating Mammon of all people,” Asmo said as he hung off of Solomon’s bed and Solomon spun around to face his friend.

“I find myself lucky that they want to be around me, Asmo, even after hearing all the stuff said about me. If they do date Mammon then I’d just be glad they’re happy,”

Etana is perplexed by Solomon. Every rumor she heard about him made him seem like an evil mastermind who plans world domination over sunday brunch but everyday she spends time with him, he proves himself to be anything but and she finds him to be a rather sweet guy. But… just how much of the rumors are true?

Etana is my MC and goes by she/they pronouns. I have picrews of how they look on my tik tok which is @solomonspissbucket, I urge you to check it out <3

Chapter Text

Etana felt groggy as she came to. Her eyes felt itchy as she opened them and her body felt heavy, almost as if she were still tired. But also… sore. When did she fall asleep on the floor…?

She finally woke up and with a deep breath, sat up cautiously. This was not her home.

“Welcome to the DevilDom, Etana!” A man in a red uniform said in a booming voice…. First of all, how did he know her name? As she stayed quiet, the man’s smile began to fade and he gave a small giggle. “Oh.. pardon. Feeling a bit shocked, are we?” He asked.

“Uh, yeah… who are you and I’m pretty confused on how you know my name. And honestly freaked out,” Etana said as she got up and crossed her arms.

“That’s understandable. You’ve only just arrived. As a human, it’ll probably take you a little while to adjust to things here in the Devildom,”

…As a human? But HE looks like a human. Albeit a bit larger and taller but still human-like. If he wasn’t a human, then what the hell was he??

“…Devildom…” Etana mumbled under her breath. So a demon?

“Yes, Devildom,”

“I wasn’t looking for an answer,” Etana shot back but winced as she remembered this might be a demon. “I’m… sorry, it’s just the shock”

“I’m sure. I won’t hold it against you. So, shall we start with introductions?” He asked and Etana nodded. “My name is Diavolo. I am the ruler of all demons and all know me. Someday soon, I will become the king of DevilDom. We are in the Royal Academy of Diavolo although we just call it RAD. You are inside the assembly hall, the very heart of RAD. Here is where the officers of the student council meet to conduct meetings. I’m the President of said counsel,” He finished.

“Okay so… safe to assume you’re a demon,”

“Correct,”

“Okay so…. I can kind of guess why I’m here but I’ll ask. Why am I here?”

“I will be the one explaining everything to you,” A man with black hair said to her, catching her attention. Etana could already tell what kind of guy he was just by the way he stood. A hardass.

“Etana, this is Lucifer. He is a demon and the Avatar of Pride,” Diavolo said and Etana couldn’t help but feel her heart jump in her throat. Lucifer….

“Um so funny thought but… the human world makes it seem like Lucifer is supposed to be the big man in charge. I don’t think I’ve even heard of you, Diavolo,”

“It’s LORD Diavolo,” Lucifer said and Etana glared at him. They could already tell they’d be annoyed by him. Diavolo laughed however.

“Well—“

“Or no, I think I have but your names kinda mean the same thing like just devil in general—“

“You are not to interrupt Lord Diavolo,” Lucifer raised his voice slightly at her and she winced.

“Geez, sorry. I didn’t really notice,” She mumbled.

“Haha! I like her,” Diavolo said and Lucifer sighed.

“Of course you do,”

“Lucifer is also the Vice President and my right hand man! Beyond that, he’s also my most trusted friend,”

“Flattery will get you nowhere, Diavolo” Lucifer said. Oh so HE can drop the lord part. “Speaking on behalf of the entire student body at this great and storied school of ours, I offer you a most heartfelt welcome, Etana,” He said.

“You said you’d answer my question,” Etana said and his smile fell. It wasn’t very genuine in the first place.

“This one is quite different from Solomon,”

“Solomon?”

“You’ll meet him,” Was all the answer he’d give her. “Diavolo believes we should start strengthening our relationship with both the human world and the celestial realm. As a first step to this goal, we’ve decided to implement an exchange program. We’ve sent two of our students to the human realm and two to the celestial realm. We’re welcoming four new students into our school: two from the celestial realm and two from the human world. I take it that you’ve probably put two and two together at this point?” Lucifer asked but didn’t wait for an answer. “You are one of our new exchange students. Your period is a year and you will be working on tasks that RAD will provide you as well as write an essay at the end of the term,”

“An essay..?”

“I’m not asking for doctorate level,” Lucifer deadpanned. “And don’t glare at me like that, I’m not leaving you alone,”

“Sorry, I just really hate essays. I wasn’t too worried about being alone. I’m rooming with the other exchange students, right?” Etana asked and he got silent. “…right?”

“No. There is unfortunately no room for you in purgatory hall. We cannot have the angels with us for obvious reasons and we cannot have the other human with us for personal reasons. I hope you can understand,” Lucifer said as he reached in his pocket and handed her a device. “This is a DDD. It’ll help you keep in contact with everyone and all of our contacts are already pre programmed. I will be leaving you with my brother, Mammon. He’s the avatar of greed and… well you’ll figure out how he can be. Go ahead and call him,”

Etana looked through the contacts and suddenly became aware of the eyes that were staring holes into them. Was it just them or did some of the stares feel… hungry. She quickly tapped on Mammon's contact.

“Hello?” Etana said as he picked up the phone.

“Who are you?” He sounded less than excited.

“The human exchange student. I was told you’ll be watching over me,”

“Like hell I will! Stupid Lucifer, stickin me with the stuff he doesn’t wanna deal with,”

“Mammon…” Lucifer said and Etana heard him yelp over the phone. “You will be here in a timely manner,”

“Right…” Mammon hung up.

“It seems you had a nice chat,” Lucifer said.

“If you could even call it one. All that happened is you using your menacing voice and him folding like a lawn chair,” Etana said and that drew a prideful smile out of him.

“Are you anxious at all, Etana?” Diavolo asked and Etana smiled. He seemed nicer than Lucifer dare she say.

“Honestly? Yes,”

“Understandable. You were brought to a strange place and were told you’ll be looked after by a stranger AND you’ll be staying in an unfamiliar home. But Mammon isn’t the only one here to help you out! I think it’s time we introduce your brothers, Lucifer. You’re much better suited to do so,”

Lucifer sighed. “Yes. As much as I dread having to do so, it’s time,”

“Oh really? You should feel honored you get to introduce such a sweet and charming brother like me!” One of them said as if he was dying to speak this entire time. And he probably was.

“This one here is Asmodeus. He is the fifth born and the avatar of lust,”

“I can’t believe you totally ignored what I said! And not only that! You referred to me as this one! How rude!” He said, sounding genuinely hurt. For a demon, he seems pretty easy to tick off.

“At least he didn’t ignore you altogether. How do you think I feel?” A blonde one said, seeming equal parts uninterested and equal parts pissed off.

“I can only introduce one at a time,” Lucifer said. “That one is Satan, the avatar of wrath. At first glance he looks like a responsible demon with a good head on his shoulders but looks can be deceiving,” Lucifer said.

“Oh so IM that one? Nice to meet you, Etana,” She’s only met two more people, but she already feels uncomfortable.

“Avatar of Lust?” Etana asked, turning her attention back to the demon that seemed to be staring at her.

“That’s right! It pretty much sums up what I’m about!” He said. Oh god, what was his name again? “Including my power,” he got close to Etana and gently held her face which caused her breathing to hitch. “Could you gaze into my eyes for a bit. It won’t hurt. Don’t be shy…” Etana moved her face out of his hands and closed them as she turned her head to the side.

“No thanks,”

“You don’t want to? You’re no fun at all,” He said as he backed off a bit.

“I should probably warn you, Etana, but it was a good call not to look. Asmodeus can charm anyone so be wary of his gaze,” Satan said and Etana gave an appreciative smile. “He can charm and manipulate you. And once he charms you, he’ll eat you,”

“Hey! Don’t go around saying things like that and making me seem so barbaric..” Asmo said. Thank you, Satan, for saying his name.

Lucifer sighed. “Are you done?” He waited for a bit. “Now then, the one that looks a bit grumpy is Beelzebub. He’s the sixth oldest and the avatar of gluttony,”

“Lucifer, I’m hungry,” He said almost on que.

“That’s too bad. Behave yourself,” Lucifer said. “There are seven of us in total. I’m the oldest and Mammon is the second oldest. We’ll meet the others in due time,”

“While you’re here, the brothers are to keep you safe which is partly why you’re with them. They will be escorting you places until most residents have the common knowledge to leave you be as they do with the other human,”

“How nice…” Etana said.

“Oh! I don’t believe you have my contact! I’ll go ahead and send you a message,” Diavolo said as he pulled out his own DDD.

“Isn’t that nice, Etana. Now you can be friends with the future king of Devildom,” Satan teased and Lucifer gave him a firm glare, which he rolled his eyes at.

“Well we’ve got introductions through and just in time too. It seems my idiot brother is here,” Lucifer said as Mammon came through the doors.

“Oi! Human! You’ve got a lotta nerve summoning the Great Mammon! I’m only gonna say this once! If you value your life, you’ll hand over all your money and anything else of value too! Otherwise I’ll wipe that stupid look off your face by eatin ya! Staring with your head and workin my way down—“

“Mammon, shut up or I’ll hit you,” Lucifer said before immediately hitting him.

“What’s the big idea? I thought you were gonna give me a chance before hitting me,”

“Mammon is the avatar of greed. He governs and oversees all forms of it,” Satan once again supplied and Etana felt, once again, grateful for him. “Whenever he takes a liking to someone, you can always find yourself awash with money but from what I hear, if he decides to break it off with you, you’re left penniless,”

“And he’s also a masochist! That parts very important,” Asmo said.

“Indeed. And it just so happens I have a job for my masochist of a brother,” Lucifer said.

“Yall stop tellin lies. I ain’t asked for you to hit me and I ain’t a masochist!” Mammon tried to defend himself but it fell on deaf ears.

“Mammon, YOU are going to see to this human’s every need during this exchange program. I expect your full cooperation,” Lucifer stated with little room for objection.

“What?! Why me?!”

“Aw, lucky you, Mammon. I’m so jealous,” Asmo pouted.

“Alright then why don’t YOU do it?”

“What?? Hell no, too lazy,”

“I thought you said you were jealous of me,”

“Just give up, Mammon, there’s no getting out of this,” Satan piped up. “You know you can’t refuse a direct command from Lucifer, correct?”

“But why does it have to be ME?! Why can’t it be Beel?!”

“This isn’t a job we can trust to Beel. We might as well ask him to eat them,” Asmo said, which made a chill go up Etana’s spine.

“Mm, yeah. Can't promise I wouldn’t,”

“Wow, thanks,” Etana said and Beel shrugged at her.

“You’re useless, ya know that?” Mammon said.

“…Mammon?” Lucifer said, pulling out his menacing voice once again.

“Wh-what?”

“Surely you aren’t going to tell me you object to this arrangement, are you?” Lucifer asked but it clearly wasn’t a question. Or it was, it just had one right answer.

“…UGH! I hate you guys! Every last one of ya! Fine… FINE! I’ll do it, okay?” Mammon said as he got closer to Etana. “Listen up, human! No matter how much I don’t wanna, I gotta look after ya cause Lucifer said so even if it is a pain in the ass. But in return you can’t cause me any trouble, got it?”

“Got it,” Etana said. Honestly, she wanted to get to wherever she was staying as quickly as possible so that she could call home. Or hopefull call home. She doesn’t know if reception works between realms on these things.

“Good! That’s what I like to hear! As long as you do what I say, we have no problems. Just make sure you don’t forget which one is the boss here,” Mammon finishes as he crosses his arms.

“Alright, we’ve decided who will take care of you. Now your task is to just keep that soul pure. There are demons who will want a piece of you,”

“Okay…? So what do I do?”

“You don’t have magic like our other human so you’ll have to have at least one of us with you at a time to fight against these demons, which won’t be a challenge,” Lucifer said. “You’ll be fine. Just make sure you survive a year,”

“Hopefully I do…”

“It sounds easy enough, regardless,” Lucifer said, his face not giving any indication of his emotions. Easy for him to say, nobody is out to get him.

“I just wanna make one thing clear!” Mammon announced. “It won’t be MY fault if someone gets eaten,”

“Lucifer, I’m hungry,” The gluttony demon announced again. Damnit, she couldn’t remember his name very clearly either. It started with a B.

“Too bad, behave yourself,” Lucifer said once again, repeating his earlier statement to the demon.

“Not to be rude but… can I call my home? I can’t very well disappear without a trace,” Etana said and Lucifer stared for a second before collecting himself.

“I suppose that is something that we neglected to take into account. Our other human has no close family or friends that are worried for him or his whereabouts so we must have forgotten he is the exception and not the rule. Forgive us,” He said. “You should be able to call up to the human world with your DDD. That is, if you know your family’s phone numbers by heart,”

“Thank you for bringing this to our attention, Etana!” Diavolo said. “Part of the exchange program is to understand things about our realms that are different from our own. We have gotten so out of touch, we seem to have forgotten that humans tend to have immediate family that they hold dear. I can tell you will be a great asset to a universe where demons, angels and humans live in harmony. Just one year. Good luck, Etana!”

——————————-

“Ugh, I don’t believe this… of all the rotten luck…” Mammon mumbled as he walked by her side. He’s been like this ever since they left the council room and honestly, Etana was getting tired of it. “Why should I have to look after some human? It’s insulting, is what it is. That rotten bastard… Does he really think he can scare me into doing whatever he wants?” Mammon walked a bit ahead in front of Etana and stopped them in their tracks to look at him instead of the ground. “I wanna be clear though! It’s not like I can’t say no to Lucifer, got that? I only agreed to babysitting you because… well um…. Because…” He stared at her for a moment. “It doesn’t matter! Just don’t go thinkin I’m scared of Lucifer!”

“Wow. You’ve been carrying an entire conversation by yourself since we left…” Etana said with a frown and she saw him glare at her.

“What?! Oh, now you’re REALLY in for it!” He said as he fell back into step with her. “Although, I’m shocked you can say things like that to me. You’re not scared? I mean, I’m a DEMON. You know that, right?” He stared at her again but Etana kept staring at the ground. “….You’re one strange human, you know that?”

“Not really, I’ve been relatively quiet this whole time,”

“I guess but even our other human and the angels talk more when someone’s talking to em!”

“Perhaps but how can you REALLY make a conversation when all the other persons been talking about is how unfair it is that he has to babysit you?” Etana said and he crossed his arms.

“You gettin REAL comfortable for a human,”

“I’ve been told,” Etana said. “Speaking of comfort, did any of my clothes come with me? It’d be a shame if all I had to wear was this and my new uniform,”

“Oh… no,”

“Great,”

“Im sure if ya bring it up to Lucifer, he’ll give ya some allowance for clothes shoppin. And uh… if ya wouldn’t mind handin me some of that allowance for havin to watch ya…”

“No chance,” Etana said with an eye roll.

“Hey! I gotta get reimbursed for my time!”

“I wasn’t the one who asked you to look after me, Lucifer was. Take it up with him,” She said and she could’ve sworn she heard him growl at her. Okay so maybe be a bit nicer.

“Whatever, we’re here anyways,” Mammon said as he opened the doors to the House of Lamentation. “Now imma take you to your room and get ya outta my hair for a while…” Mammon said but Etana stopped at the bulletin board.

“What’s that?” She pointed at a yellow flier.

“Jobs. If ya run outta Grimm, you work em,” Mammon walked back to her, getting pretty close. Etana took a step back. “If you even wanna last a day here, I suggest you listen to me,” He said in a deeper tone and for once, Etana didn’t have anything to say back. “If it looks like a demon is about to attack you, either run away or die,”

“You’re the one supposed to be protecting me though,”

“And I won’t always be here. Even then, so what if ya die?”

“How about this, Mammon? I vote for YOU to die!” Etana’s eyes drifted over to the other staircase where she saw another demon making his way over to them. He looked pretty pissed already too.

“D’ah! Levi!” Mammon exclaimed before looking over at Etana again. “L-listen here, human. This here is Leviathan, he’s the avatar of envy and the third born. His name is kinda hard so you can just call him Levi. Okay! Moving on!”

“Mammon! Give me back my money! And then you can crawl in a hole and die!”

“I already told ya I’d get it back to ya I just need more time. And even after I give it back you want me to die? That’s harsh,”

“It’s BEEN a little more time. 200 years exactly,”

“Yikes,” Etana mumbled.

“YOU shut up,” Mammon said and shot her a look. “And it hasn’t been 200. It’s been 260!”

That’s even worse….

“Seriously, Mammon, you’re—“

“I’m what? Scum? Is that what you were gonna say?”

“You’re a lowlife and a waste of space,”

“That’s even worse!” Mammon exclaimed.

“Just give me the money. I need it to—“

“Lemme guess, buy some anime?” Mammon asked and Etana swore she could feel Levi get angrier at being interrupted.

“And WHATS wrong with that? Just give it to me!”

“I can’t! I don’t have it! How am I supposed to give you something that’s nonexistent?”

“So you refuse to pay me back?” Levi asked in warning.

“What? No! You’re just tryin to pick a fight with me, aren't ya?” Mammon asked. Etana looked back and forth between them but decided to stay silent. While Levi was right to want his money back, Mammon was also right. He couldn’t really pull money outta his ass, could he? “Listen up, human. You remember your lesson? Well it’s time to die, cause it’s either you or me and it ain’t gonna be me!” Mammon said and suddenly Etana was pushed to Levi, who caught her only to look up and see Mammon was gone.

“Damnit! He’s too fast…” Levi said before looking back at Etana with a glare. “Do you realize what happened? That bastard sacrificed you. Why would you let him use you like that?”

“As if I had a choice,” Etana said as she backed off. “As you said, he was fast,” Levi sighed.

“Well, you’re right. Sometimes humans can be so—“ Levi seemed to perk up. “Wait… human!” He exclaimed.

“Yes..?”

“Are you free right now? Yes you are, you gotta be. It doesn’t matter, you’re coming with me,” Levi said as he grabbed their wrist and started dragging them down the hall.

“Hey! You can’t do that!” He ignored them. “Where are we going at least,”

“My room,”

And I thought the avatar of lust would be the first one to try…

“I kinda don’t wanna..?”

“I know, it’s a little messy but it’s okay,”

“That’s not—“ Levi opened the door and dragged them inside.

“Sit down,” Etana sat in a gaming chair in front of a computer desk since the only bed looked to be a bathtub bizarrely enough.

“Um… anyways, I kinda just wanna go to my room and—“

“This will be quick, I promise,” Levi said. He went back to the door and took a quick look down the halls. Etana looked at his bookcase, mindlessly browsing the bookshelves. “Are you looking at TSL? Are you a fan?” He asked excitedly.

“Oh! No, I was just—“

“You NEVER heard of it?! And you call yourself a human?! Listen up, I’m going to do you a favor!” Levi said and then started talking about TSL, going faster and faster with his words until Etana could no longer keep up. It all felt so confusing. “Anyways that's the premise,” Levi coughed a bit. “I guess I talked too much,”

“So uh why are we here again?”

“Right. I didn’t bring you here to talk about TSL. Mammon won’t give me money no matter WHAT. He’s a hopeless, worthless scumbag who doesn’t deserve anything in life. I want to force him but no matter what, he’ll always be stronger and faster than me. It’s all because of his selfishness. Because listen to this! A convo once store was having a promotional campaign and he won a Seraphina figurine. I would’ve DIED to have that! But no matter what, he wouldn’t give it. Why? Not because he actually LIKED IT but because I WANTED IT! He’s a dick! I knew he’d just treat her like another piece of junk so I decided to get it from his room when he went to sleep. But then I found her on the FLOOR with all his old noodles and EVERYTHING as if she were TRASH! OH, I was PISSED. I flew into a rage and tried to attack him but he was too fast and before I knew it, he had me pinned. That’s not the worst part. The worst part is that he was NAKED! STARK NAKED! I lost consciousness after that. But you’ve seen how fast he was! Nobody but Lucifer or Beel could match that,”

“Well it sounds to me like you could’ve had her if you hadn't gotten so angry,” Etana said and Levi gave an angry grunt.

“Shut up. Either way, I think you could get me all my stuff far easier. A human making a pact would GUARANTEE him giving everything up! You could force him to,”

“Well as much as I would love to help, I don’t like the idea of giving up my soul,” Etana said as she attempted to get up.

“No no no, that’s not always necessary. Please sit down again,” Levi said and she complied. “You do need to give something though. And I have an idea,”

——————-

“It’s so exciting to see Lucifer and his brothers again. I usually can never hang out with them for long so this exchange program is a good opportunity,” Simeon said as he walked alongside Solomon and Luke to Purgatory Hall. Luke huffed and crossed his arms as his duffel bag swung behind him by the action.

“I don’t know why you like the demons so much,” He mumbled and Simeon chuckled.

“It’s also a good opportunity to work on your biases. If this is going to work, we all need to be accepting. Isn’t that what we preach?” Simeon asked him, which seemed to get Luke more annoyed.

“Well, yes! But they’re demons, Simeon. They were casted out for a reason,”

“Perhaps but that was forever ago. We’re all going to be changing for the better. Even the demons have stated that they’ll be holding off on eating humans, at least when the other exchange student is there,” Simeon said and Solomon chuckled.

“I can’t imagine how they’re adjusting. They should’ve put me with them, I’d be able to handle demons better,” Solomon said and Simeon shook his head.

“No, because Lucifer didn’t want you hounding him for a pact,” Simeon explained. Solomon just gave him a polite smile.

“Agree to disagree. Speaking of, what is the human’s name?”

“I think it was Etana,” Luke said proudly at knowing the name when Solomon didn’t.

“Correct. Please don’t go and scare them though,” Simeon said to Solomon and Solomon just shook his head as Simeon got to the door and unlocked it with a key Barbatos had given them.

“I wasn’t planning to. However, I will be speaking to them at some point. I’m just being friendly is all,” Solomon said and Simeon sighed as he opened the door.

“Well as long as you’re genuine,”

“Oh! I wanna pick my room!” Luke said as he sprinted up the steps and Simeon smiled.

“He hates when I treat him like a kid but then he’s got that childlike wonder,” Simeon said and turned to Solomon. “Would you like to pick a room before me?”

“I suppose, since I think you’d insist anyways,” Solomon said and Simeon laughed.

“Well, yes. I would,” Solomon went up the stairs with Simeon following behind him. He went to the room at the furthest end of the hall and set his bag in it before putting his stuff away. Spell books, ingredients, a few articles of clothing and of course personal things. While putting his stuff away, he looked at everything he had and realized he may have packed a little too lightly. Well, that was his own fault. “Yikes,” He said under his breath and then took out his DDD and dialed Asmodeus. It rang a few times before he heard Asmo on the other end.

“Yes, yes, what do you want? I’m just a little bit busy,”

“With what?”

“My paint chipped earlier today. I don’t even know why! I didn’t do anything too extreme and it’s sooooooo disappointing,” He heard Asmo wail on the other end and Solomon hummed.

“Well, when you’re done with that, could you come with me to Majolish?”

“UGH! Why are you humans so forgetful?”

“What do you mean?”

“The other human doesn’t have ANYTHING to wear either,”

“Well, I HAVE things to wear, just not a lot and… weren’t they dragged here? With no warning?” Solomon questioned and Asmo sighed.

“I suppose but still. They’ve been around Mammon and Levi all day, they should take a shower being around those two so much,” Asmo said and Solomon laughed.

“Well they’d need clothes to change into for that,”

“They’ll get an allowance from Luci for that. I don’t know when though, it’s not my problem for now,” He heard Asmodeus blow on his nails through the phone. “Anyways, you want me to just accompany you, right? Are you scared or something?”

“You know I’m not, Asmodeus,” Solomon said. “I just want somebody that’ll talk my ear off the entire time,”

“Then I’m your man!” Asmo chirped. “Give me a few moments and I’ll be there!” The line ended and Solomon put the DDD back in his pocket before picking up his bag and putting the empty bag on the floor of his closet. He decided to explore the dorm while the angels were unpacking since he’s never been in this building before. The kitchen and dining room were downstairs as he saw when he first entered and of course, the entrance hallway. Through an arch was the living room and there was a bathroom upstairs as he soon found out. He heard the bell ring and went to greet his guest.

“Hello, Solomon!” Asmo said happily as he wrapped his arms around him before giving him a chance to fully open the door.

“You seem more cheerful than on the phone,” Solomon said as he gently pushed Asmo off of him.

“That’s because you interrupted me, you know how I get when I’m trying to focus on something,” Asmo said and Solomon laughed.

“Yes. Alright, let me send a quick text to Simeon and we’ll be off,” He said as he pulled his DDD out and shot a text telling the Angel where he was and that he’d be back for dinner in time.

————-

“And then Lucifer called me ‘this one’. Like I was some parasite! He should’ve felt HONORED and GRATEFUL that he had the opportunity to introduce me!” Asmo ranted as Solomon looked through the clothes. “No but get this, that human, Etana, I tried to charm her, right?”

“Yeah?”

“And like I got a hold of her eyes for a second but she looked AWAY!” Asmo said and that gave Solomon a pause.

“But… nobody can resist you when you have your charm on,”

“I know! Nobody mentioned it so I kept quiet but I’ve been DYING to tell someone who’d listen,”

“It’d be bizarre if she could resist you, especially if they don’t have any background of magic,” Solomon said and Asmo hugged his arm.

“You wouldn’t be able to resist though, would you?” Asmo asked sweetly and Solomon kept his eyes on the clothing, knowing Asmo was urging him to look.

“I can. It takes willpower though,” Solomon said as he pulled his arm away and turned to another section.

“I just feel really shot down. And I never feel shot down,”

“That’s because not a lot of people reject you,”

“I know right? I’m too perfect for somebody to not be attracted to me,”

“I’m sure she is but not everyone acts on their attraction to others,” Solomon said as he placed another piece of clothing in the cart.

“You always know just what to say,” Asmo cooed and then his attention was to the entrance when the bell rang. “Oh! Speaking of…” Solomon looked to the door and saw the human with Satan, who looked bored more than anything. “She must’ve brought him along since Mammon is still nowhere to be found,”

“He’s probably still at the casino or something,”

“Being scummy as per usual,” Asmo said and then looked at Solomon, who was looking with interest. “What? Are you curious?”

“Well with what you just said about how she resisted, how can I not be?” Solomon asked as he looked at Asmo, since he was sure his charm was off by now.

“Introduce yourself!”

“Maybe later,”

“Ugh, you’re no fun at all,” Asmo said and then his face changed from a pout to a smile. “Looks like she’s coming over here instead. She’s not the only one curious~”

“It’s because she knows you, Asmodeus. And please don’t say curious like that, it implies my curiosity isn’t innocent,”

“Hi, Asmo! What’re you doing here?” Etana asked

“I’m with Solomon. Poor guy doesn’t like going places on his own a lot of the time,”

“If you’re going to introduce me, at least do so correctly,” Solomon said as he turned to Etana. “I’m Solomon and I’m the second human exchange student. You probably heard?”

“Oh! I was wondering who you were!” Etana said with a smile. “I’m with Satan to pick out some clothes. They didn’t let me pack anything before I got here,”

“So I’ve heard. I was given warning but I didn’t pack a lot so now I’m here with Asmodeus,” Solomon said and Etana let out a laugh.

“You know, I think I’ve seen you before,”

“You probably have, I tend to travel in the human world a lot,”

“Etana, I think it’s time we get what we came for and go home, don’t you think?” Satan said, interrupting their conversation and Etana sighed before smiling at Solomon and Asmo.

“It was fun talking to you, I’ve been wanting to meet the other human,” She said, which gave Solomon a shock. He just looked at her in confusion for a moment as she went to the women’s section.

“What?” Asmo asked him.

“Uh… I wasn’t expecting her to say that is all,” Solomon said and Asmo smiled at him.

“Look at you making new friends!”

“Shut up,”
