Work Text:
there was something more between minho and jisung and everyone knew that besides the two forementioned idiots. of course, it was bound to be like that to some extent. they both thought that the other was in no way, shape or form interested in them and that was stray kids’ last straw. they couldn’t stand the way they were longingly looking at each other and the yearning their expressions were filled with whenever the other was not giving them attention. and let’s not even bring up the fact that they were so filled with fondness for one another, it was sickeningly sweet.
the rest of the members have had enough.
the mutual pining minho and jisung were capable of was their villain origin story and they were going to try their best to get those dumbasses to confess their feelings, whatever the fuck it took for them to achieve that.
now that we established the background story to what was to come, better brace yourselves.
one thing led to another and my, my, my… yeah the rest of stray kids resorted to the final (and only, actually) plan they could come up with: locking them in the same room and telling them to figure out whatever the fuck they had so you could imagine the second hand embarrassment they were experiencing as they were looking every fucking where but at each other, since whenever they tried to do so, blush was creeping up on their face like they were some middle schoolers. fucking losers, that’s what they are.
truth be told, they have probably imagined the moment they confessed to be much more romantic and self driven than whatever the hell they were stuck with, but life happens and you just have to say ‘it eez what it eez’ through gritted teeth and tears and internalise everything as a normal adult. however, there were going to be some victims after they made it out. victims of what? their wrath. or at least minho’s.
i think we can all agree that anyone would be scared shitless of his threats of being air fried, or maybe that’s just me and hyunjin.
anyway.
“so.” jisung broke the silence after a not (actually very) awkward silence. he was still not making eye contact with minho. “how was your day?”
stupid.
the younger realised how dumb that probably sounded and he wanted to facepalm and most probably fling himself into the sun, but what’s done is done so now he had to play along with what the fuck his past self started. wonderful, if you ask me about it.
minho, however, decided to play along with jisung’s starter game. it could have done them so good maybe if they tried to take it slow.
“it has been okay. until they locked us here, of course. i assume yours was the same.” the older answered the question, his eyes fixed on the younger. jisung still didn’t look at him, but above him.
“that’s a pertinent guess.” he hummed and played with the sleeves of his hoodie. he was trying to beat around the bush as much as possible and that was udnerstandable, the situation was very… sitcom-ish. too sitcom-ish for his liking, but when was stray kids’ dorm life not sitcom-ish?
“mhm.” minho simply answered and the silence came back. this time around, however, it was not as awkward. that was already an improvement and even the members who were listening through the door were probably agreeing between themselves.
tik tok. tik tok. tik tok. on the clock. but the party don’t stop, no-
not the time, sorry.
“i’m gonna go first about this, i guess.” minho finally spoke up and moved a bit closer to jisung, so their knees would be touching since they were both sitting in the same position on the floor. “these assholes locked us in there with a reason and i assume with a good one at that, so let’s stop this and cut it short.” he took a deep inhale and probably said an entire prayer in his mind, before looking the younger in the eyes once again. “i like you jisung and i think we both know you like me back. we have not been… exactly subtle about it, either.”
“i know and i agree.” jisung quickly interrupted minho, taking even himself by surprise. someone was maybe a bit too eager? “but…” why was there a but? “i don’t know, hyung… what if we don’t work out and all of this is going to strain our friendship? i don’t want that.”
“jisung, baby, listen to me.” the pet name made jisung let out a quiet squeal and some soft, rose blush crept onto his cheeks. “if we don’t work out, that’s fine. but we have been pining over each other for so long, i’m sure that means something and our friendship is stronger than whatever the hell a step up could do to us, alright? we can take it easy.”
the words were reassuring to the younger, but minho could tell he was still hesitant to some extent and that was understandable. there was a lot to consider and to ponder over, but getting a little happiness wasn’t that bad, was it? they both deserved it and that thought alone made jisung finally make up his mind.
“pinky promise we take it easy?” he suddenly asked and stuck out his pinky finger, to which minho only let out a light hearted laugh. of course jisung was going to do that, he was so predictable but it was adorable in his eyes.
“pinky promise, sungie.” the older said and made the promise with the boy in front of him which now had a bright smile on his face.
“fucking finally!” the other members from the other side of the door shouted and then they audibly started to hug each other, as chan was probably unlocking the room in which minho and jisung were in.
idiots, all of them. lovable idiots.
