Jisung loved Minho, even when they didn’t see eye to eye. And lately they had never been seeing eye to eye, constantly arguing over something and never quite understanding each other. They still slept in the same bed, but there was a constant tension between them that Jisung was eager to fix.
So Jisung went out into the city and bought a bouquet of Minho’s favorite flowers; a lovely mix of red and white roses, the most beautiful and romantic flowers Minho had ever seen. Jisung reserved a seat at the fanciest restaurant in town, Brazlilian food with many different types of meats that he knew Minho loved.
And when Minho met him at dinner with a dazzling necklace for him, Jisung made the mistake of thinking that everything was back to normal.

“How about getting off work early today instead of putting in extra hours?”
Jisung looked up at his best friend with a surprised expression. “Why? Do you have something planned?”
Hyunjin just giggled and shook his head. “No, you’ve just been putting in so much work lately. We can go back to your place and have ice cream and have a movie marathon.”
That sounded nice; it reminded Jisung of his high school days. And it was true that he’d been working lots recently; he was rarely home and never really had time to relax, especially considering that whenever he came home his husband was already passed out on their bed. There were nights that Jisung would come back late and clean for hours before passing out on the couch. He barely had time to mess around with his husband, much less his friends.
It wasn’t like Minho and him were still arguing anyways. Jisung figured it might be nice to have a movie night with the both of them.
“That sounds fun,” Jisung finally answered. “Minho’s probably home anyways, so we can ask him if he wants to join us.”
“Yeah, okay,” Hyunjin smiled brightly. He leaned in to give Jisung a kiss on his cheek, something he would only do when he was worried about Jisung, before hopping away, probably to go play around with their coworkers instead of actually working.
After another few hours Hyunjin returned to him so Jisung hurried to get his things packed up. They agreed to take Hyunjin’s car home and leave Jisung’s parked behind the building. He would be able to get his car back tomorrow.
They pulled up to Jisung’s house and Jisung noticed an unfamiliar car parked a bit down the street from their house. They lived in a small neighborhood where everyone knew each other’s business, so he was a bit surprised he’d never seen this car visit his neighbors. He didn’t think about it for too long, though, because Hyunjin was already parking in his driveway.
Jisung led the way up to their front door and noticed that strangely enough, none of their lights were on. Maybe Minho was already asleep? But when he glanced at his phone he saw it was only 8:00 and there was no way his husband was sleeping.
“Hurry up,” Hyunjin whined, throwing himself at the wall dramatically. Jisung rolled his eyes and finally unlocked the front door, which proved more difficult than he’d thought seeing as how he normally entered his home through the garage and therefore never needed to use the house key. Hyunjin ran in immediately and made his way down the hallway towards where his room was.
Jisung turned to follow him but ended up running into Hyunjin’s back. Why was Hyunjin just standing in the hallway like a deer in the headlights?
Then he heard it. Voices—no, moans—were coming through his closed bedroom door. And Jisung’s face turned pink; was his husband pleasuring himself right now? They hadn’t had sex in months so it would make sense.
“I’ll just—“ Hyunjin said, and he turned to walk back down the hallway and towards their living room. Jisung scrunched his nose and stepped closer to his bedroom door, mentally preparing himself before opening it.
And what he saw was something he’d never forget.
Minho bent over his desk in the corner of their room, his eyes rolled back and his hand gripping the edge of the desk. His moans were loud, like he was taking the best dick in the world.
And maybe he was, because behind his husband, a man was slamming into him with a pace faster than anything Jisung had ever seen. Not even porn could accurately portray the pleasure his husband was feeling.
And Jisung was infuriated.
“What’s this?” Jisung asked, his hand gripping the door knob with enough strength to tear the whole door away from the wall.
And when Minho looked up at him with scared eyes and aggressively pushed the man away from him, Jisung felt his heart shatter.
This was real. Minho was sleeping with another man.
“Baby,” Jisung heard Minho say, and his husband was at his side in an instant. Jisung refused to make eye contact. “Baby, it’s not what it looks like.”
Jisung shook his head. There was nothing else that could have been; he’d seen it with his own eyes. The love of his life… didn’t love him anymore?
Jisung felt the tears sliding down his cheeks and he didn’t bother to wipe them away. He felt hands at his cheek and leaned into the touch; it had been too long since his husband had touched him, and he had missed it. Maybe Jisung was just seeing things; there was no way Minho had actually slept with someone else.
But when Jisung looked up again, his boyfriend was completely undressed and an unfamiliar man was standing somewhere behind him, equally naked.
Jisung stepped away from his husband’s hands; they weren’t as comforting as they usually were. His husband’s presence had never been so sickening to him, not once in the 10 years they’d known each other.
Jisung had a million questions he wanted to ask, answers he desperately needed to know. But his throat had closed up and suddenly he couldn’t breathe, and he was sinking to the floor of their— his bedroom.
Jisung’s hands gripped his own hair as tight as he could, desperately pulling at the strands as if it would relieve some of the anxiety he was feeling. But it didn’t work; if anything, everything just got worse.
“Jisung, calm down,” he heard, but it wasn’t helping. Nothing was helping, and everything was too painful to pay attention to. Until he felt a hand card through his hair and he reached forward, seeking comfort from someone he’d received it from since they were in high school.
“Jisung,” Hyunjin said, and everything was okay again. Jisung’s vision cleared and when he looked up, everything almost seemed normal, except the man he’d been cheated on with was still there, saying something to his—saying something to Minho. Minho looked stressed and the man was annoyed. They were both struggling to get their clothes on.
“Hyunjin,” Jisung said, and Hyunjin shushed him, pulling him closer. Jisung watched Minho as he stumbled around their room, finally stopping when he found the stranger’s shoes. Jisung watched the man grab his things and flee the scene.
Jisung finally stood up, and Minho’s eyes met his in an instant. He immediately stopped whatever he was doing to look at Jisung with some sort of sad expression on his eyes. Jisung wished he could forgive him.
“How long?” Jisung asked, and Minho’s expression faltered into something much more scared.
“This was the first time,” Minho tried.
Jisung frowned and shook his head. This wasn’t the first time; his boyfriend had been dancing around him for months now without actually dancing with him. Jisung just wanted to know how long he’d been holding onto nothing.
“It hasn’t been long,” Minho tried again, taking a step closer to Jisung, outstretching his hand towards his. Jisung pulled his arm away and took a defensive step back. He felt Hyunjin’s hands at his elbows.
“Spit it out,” Jisung hissed, his hand finding its way into his hair and tugging at it again. Hyunjin tried to force his hand away, but Jisung just shoved his arm away before continuing.
“For a few months,” Minho finally answered, “The first time it happened was just after the day we fought about the electricity bill. I texted Changbin and he offered—“
“I thought you loved me,” Jisung interrupted, his voice cracking at the end of his sentence. He’d married Minho 5 years ago thinking he was the love of his life and somehow Jisung had never once thought of the possibility of Minho cheating on him. Hell, no matter how much they sometimes argued, he’d never thought about cheating on him, either.
But Minho had cheated on him, and suddenly he was rethinking the last 5 years of his life.
“I do love you,” Minho said, and his voice sounded so stressed. Jisung wanted to take him into his arms and hold him and kiss him for the first time in a while. But then he remembered the scene he’d seen earlier, Minho bent over his desk, and suddenly the thought of bringing Minho into his arms was the most sickening thing he could think of.
“You don’t love me,” Jisung choked out, taking a step back, his feet hitting the hard floor of the hallway. “You wouldn’t have done this to me if you loved me. If you loved me you would have apologized, or taken me out to a fancy restaurant and bought me my favorite flowers. If you loved me we could have talked this through instead of just making me think everything was okay, when in reality nothing is okay. You don’t love me.”
“Jisung—“
“No, Minho. Get out,” Jisung said, and Minho’s eyes widened. “Get out, and never talk to me again. I’ll take care of the divorce papers.”
“Divorce?” Minho asked, as if that was something unbelievable. “Jisung, just give me a second chance. I promise things can get better, it won’t happen again—“
Jisung shook his head. “You should have thought this through before you cheated on me in my own fucking house. Get out.”
Minho looked like he was about to get on his knees and start begging, but he only nodded and turned towards their—his, Jisung’s—closet, pulling out a duffle bag they had used on their many vacations together. Jisung’s heart clenched; he couldn’t imagine a world without Minho, but now he was being forced into a life without him.
Jisung watched Minho pack up some clothes and his work things, only speaking when Minho had tried to slip a sweater in his backpack. “That’s mine,” he said.
Minho looked up at him as if he was absurd. “What the fuck? This is mine.”
Jisung shrugged and stalked over, taking the sweater from his hands. “This was your birthday present, remember? I bought it for you. And cheaters don’t deserve gifts, my love.”
Minho looked like he wanted to fight him but he just nodded and continued packing, his jaw clenched. Jisung walked back to where he’d been standing with Hyunjin before, only Hyunjin wasn’t there anymore. He must have left to give them some privacy. Wow, Jisung thought, it seems like everyone’s leaving me now.
Minho finally finished packing and pushed past him, out into the hallway. But Jisung said “Minho,” and the man turned to face him.
“What?” He asked, and Jisung grabbed his hand to pull him in to kiss him one last time. His lips were as soft and kind as they always were, and Jisung still felt the sparks, only this time the electricity between them was evil, a brutal reminder that Minho was a cheater, and not even a good one, at that.
Jisung pulled away from the kiss with a sad expression. He was waiting for Minho to laugh and confess that this was all a joke, an April Fool’s prank in September, but nothing came, and Jisung realized that nothing ever would. Minho wasn’t his anymore.
So Jisung pressed his wedding ring into Minho’s palm. Minho stared at it and frantically said, “Wait, Jisung, make sure you think this through.”
Jisung’s smile didn’t quite reach his eyes. “I’ve thought it through enough. I don’t want to see you again anytime soon.”
Minho stared at his eyes for a few moments before nodding and turning.
“Oh, and Minho?”
Minho paused in his tracks, their front door halfway open in his hand.
“I love you,” Jisung said, and he so desperately wanted to hear the same words from Minho’s mouth. But Minho just smiled sadly and nodded, and he was walking out the door, out of Jisung’s life.
He wasn’t sure if he could ever stop loving Minho, and he’d realized too late that Minho’s love had all run out, and now there was no place for Jisung in his heart.
Jisung’s heart was tearing at the seams.
