I Am Not the One Making a Sacrifice

Summary:

Alphas shouldn't get pregnant.

But for a lover, he will.

Work Text:

It feels out of place.

Jason looks down at the baby bump of his stomach and the gentle, calloused hand of his alpha lover resting on top of it. It runs over the gown Jason is wearing - a maternity gown for an omega, of course, alphas don’t get pregnant - smoothing out the wrinkles. Dick leans in to listen. God. A life growing inside an alpha. Would you think about that?

“Thank you for doing this,” Dick whispers, ear pressed against Jason’s raised stomach.

“Who else is going to do it? At least I still have my womb intact.” Jason tries to play it off like it’s no big deal. As if going off hormones and losing his knot weren’t terrifying. As if an alpha with a baby bump wouldn’t mess with his mind.

“You are sacrificing so much for our child.” Dick straightens, looking Jason in the eye. “I know it must be scary.”

“You accepted me, didn’t you? After knowing I’m not an omega, after-”

Is this why? Why Jason felt the need to do this, knowing adoption was an option?

To make it up for Dick?

Dick’s eyes are clear when Jason looks down. He is so perfect. Strong, dependable. The perfect alpha - the real alpha.

The Golden Boy Jason shall never measure up to.

He could’ve done so much better. Dick could have taken someone else when he found out who or what Jason really was. He would have broken the tie, but he didn’t. He has stayed a wonderful lover to Jason, even knowing the queer relationship will taint Dick Grayson’s perfect image.

No. Jason isn’t the one making the sacrifice.

“-I love you, Dick,” is all he says, before a smile breaks on Dick’s face.

He seals Jason with a kiss.

“I love you, too.”
