That Upstairs Bedroom

Summary:

John and Sherlock start a relationship after the cabbie dies

Chapter 1: Good Shot

Summary:

Sherlock rethinks his conversation with John and decides to do something about it.

Chapter Text

“Good shot,” Sherlock compliments his blogger as the shorter man rambles on.

“Yes,” he agrees quickly, “must have been. Through that window.”

The taller man purses his lips. “Well, you would know.” He starts walking away, John quickly catching up. “We’ll see Lestrade tomorrow. Be sure to wash those burns off your fingers.”

John glances down at his hands, noticing the powder burns left behind from his handgun. He scowls in response but doesn’t comment or stop walking.

“So, you shot the cabbie,” Sherlock adds with a soft smirk, breaking away from his stride to turn down an alley.

“But he wasn’t a very nice man,” John sighs, cracking a small smirk of his own. “Frankly, he was a bloody awful cabbie.”

Sherlock breaks into a small fit of giggles. He stops near the end of the alleyway but still away from the sidewalk. He leans against the brick wall, and John joins him.

“Why’d we come this way?”

“That man who kidnapped you earlier?”

“… yeah? Was he there?” John looks back as though the man followed them.

“Mmm…” he nods.

“Who is he? And why is he so interested in you?”

“Claims to be concerned, not interested,” Sherlock corrects the military man. “His name is Mycroft.”

“What a name,” John responds after a beat. “Why is he concerned?”

“Sentiment,” Sherlock frowns. “John do you remember our conversation earlier? At Angelo’s?”

The man in question thinks back. “Married to your work? That one?”

“Yes. I think I was a bit too hasty in my judgement there.”

“Are you saying you were wrong?”

Sherlock only just nods. “It doesn’t happen often, and certainly not with circumstances such as these. I’d rather think I’m married to a certain denotation of sentiment.”

“So… you’re married to Mycroft?”

“God no, John. He’s my brother.” He clears his throat, “I’m saying that I do believe… can I kiss you?”

John’s eyes widen, but he in no way moves. Instead, he inches closer and captures Sherlock’s lips with his own. The kiss barely lasts ten seconds, but it feels like at least ten minutes. As John breaks away, he chuckles lightly.

“Guess I won’t be needing that upstairs bedroom after all, huh?”
