Work Text:
Adrien was sure he had found heaven - sitting there with his lady in his arms, the night quiet and dark around them, giving the illusion that they were alone in the world.
He had a lot of questions, this was certain. Why had she decided to kiss him, no explanation for her actions provided beforehand? Why had she changed her mind, finally returning his affection? If it was changed at all.
Maybe it had been a momentary lapse of judgement and she would jump away any second, horror in her eyes. But no, it didn’t seem like that, because she looked like she was perfectly relaxed, her head resting on his shoulder and her fingers interlaced with his.
He wanted to ask, he wanted to know. But most of all, he didn’t want to disrupt the peace that he could feel in the air. With her taste still lingering on his lips and her warmth pressed into him, little else in the world mattered.
He’d waited so long for this moment, to feel as if she finally accepted the fact that she belonged with him. To just enjoy her presence without worrying about having to be somewhere else or her wanting to be somewhere else.
Words felt redundant in the moment. It was enough to look into her eyes, to see the small smile dancing on her lips, to feel her. All his senses were attuned to her and he stored away every little thing to keep crystal clear in his memories. He was sure he wouldn’t forget even the smallest detail about that night.
He was happy that she wasn’t in a hurry to break the silence, although she surely felt the compulsion to do so. It was a great feeling to know that she could put talking through this aside for the moment, in favour of just enjoying his presence.
There was also something else they could do without talking, he realised as his gaze flicked to her lips and back to her eyes. A small spark in her eyes told him she knew exactly what he was thinking. They leaned in together, meeting halfway in the softest kiss.
See, they didn’t even need words to understand each other. They were finally in full sync, following their hearts, and they were clearly pulling them towards each other. Besides, kissing was so much better than talking. He felt the touch of her lips with every part of his being - gentle, loving, perfect. It told him more than words - she wanted this, she was enjoying this, she didn’t want it to end.
Eventually, they would have to talk about this. But for now, this was enough.
