The Letter

Summary:

“If these are going to be the last breaths that escape my lips, allow me to speak my truth for the first time.”

C.C. feels that her time in this world is coming to an end. As she reflects on her life and her biggest regret, she leaves Fran a parting message, revealing her most guarded secret.

Notes:

I highly recommend listening to Just Because by Lizzy McAlpine while reading this poem! Enjoy :>

Work Text:

To my dearest,

I've spent too much of my life bound by the shackles of fear;

Now I live with my biggest regret.

If these are going to be the last breaths that escape my lips,

Allow me to speak my truth for the first time.

I love you,

I love you,

I love you.

No other three words can encompass the gravity of this feeling

This unstoppable force drawing me closer to your core

As my moon turns with me, I discover your sunlight's not just a halo

Releasing me from the shadows of this life-long eclipse

From your light comes warmth, that which is different from a fire

Fires are fury, powerful bursts of flames

Bringing forth passion and destruction,

Illuminating beauty and pain

Your warmth is calm, a comforting touch

Thawing out this frozen heart, setting my fury aflame

Destroyed the walls, released all the pain

And soon ignited passion, revealing beauty from within

I love you,

I love you,

I love you.

As I write this letter to you

And my heart begins to rest

Receive all my love, darling

I offer you all in me that is best

I bid you not farewell

I bring no poignant goodbye

My fire’s always burning

In your heart it will remain.

I love you,

I love you,

I love you.

More than these words could ever say

I am sorry, my love, that I did not tell you right away,

As the curtains come to a close, know that it is not the end of this play

May you continue the encore as I wait for you in the finale.

C.C.

Notes:

My forte is not poetry, but I wanted to try a hand at it, so here’s me taking a shot HAHAH :"> This idea was born from a gloomy, stormy afternoon (hence the Pain), and imagining what if C.C. was the one in a life-or-death situation with Fran instead of Max from one of 13pens and I’s convos HAHA.

Thank you so much to DoctorPiper for your insight and suggestions while I was editing the piece! <3
