In many ways, Kyungsoo felt like a kid lost at the supermarket without his mom, except that he was not in a supermarket and he definitely wasn’t with his mom.
He was at an amusement park. He and Baekhyun had decided to use their mutual day off to go on a date there. Unsurprisingly, Baekhyun insisted on holding hands (Kyungsoo had a habit of losing track of him when he zoned out,) but at some point they’d separated so Kyungsoo could buy them cotton candy and now he was lost.
He’d already tried calling Baekhyun’s phone a minute ago to no reply. Was his phone dead? Kyungsoo chewed on his lip and looked around, debating between staying where he was or going to where he last was with Baekhyun. Wasn’t there a rule about getting lost? He was pretty sure he was supposed to wait. But what if Baekhyun was also waiting?
His head hurt already. Making the decision to find Baekhyun himself, Kyungsoo held the cotton candy they were supposed to share and pulled a piece off as he walked. He’d better find him soon, or all of it would be gone before he got to eat any.
Luckily, Baekhyun hadn’t moved from the spot he’d left him at. Kyungsoo blinked, squinting a little to make sure he was heading for the right person. Baekhyun was talking to a little kid, his back to Kyungsoo, while the boy’s mother listened in. It was only when he got closer that he could make out their discussion, stepping beside him.
“...ctually, I have a boyfriend, but he’s fairly pretty.” Noticing him, Baekhyun smiled. “You’re back?”
“I got lost,” Kyungsoo said. He greeted the mother and her son, and they chatted for a bit before parting ways. Taking another piece of cotton candy from Baekhyun (he was holding it now,) he glanced over at him curiously. “What were you guys talking about before I came?”
Baekhyun shrugged. Then he looked at him with a sly smile. “How pretty my boyfriend is?”
Kyungsoo shoved him with a roll of his eyes, and Baekhyun laughed.
“Seriously!”
“Why were you even talking about that?”
“Well, he asked me if I have a pretty girlfriend,” Baekhyun said. “I guess I looked a lot like a prince?”
Kyungsoo narrowed his eyes at him, but didn’t refute it. “So? Do you have a pretty girlfriend?”
“I do.”
This time, when Kyungsoo shoved him Baekhyun let himself be shoved, laughing as he stumbled. “I said I have a pretty boyfriend instead.”
So that was what he’d heard earlier. “Fine.”
“Fine?”
“Acceptable.”
Another small laugh. Baekhyun kissed his cheek. “Very cute, too.”
“Don’t push it,” Kyungsoo said, even though he was already caving to Baekhyun’s charming smile. When Baekhyun took his hand, he intertwined their fingers without a second thought. It was such a natural thing to do.
