Summary
Hopes Peak Academy, the real one has been running for decades at this point. After the war between hope and despair was won, the headmaster decided to run virtual simulations of killing games in rememberance of those unlucky students killed by Junko Enoshima.
It became a part of school culture, ultimates were required to participate in at least one game during their highschool experience as one of the academy's graduation requirements.
Reserve course students were also changed, instead of being rich kids who desperately wanted the name attached to their diploma, they became teens hoping to take their talents to the next level and become ultimates. Ultimates didn't need to pay tuition and were scouted. But now, reserve course students were able to move up in the ranks to that ultimate level thanks to the school's help.
Tuition costs dropped as Hope's Peak Academy started to get their income from streaming the VR killing games. Those in the games became celebrities and it was streamed at all times with highlight episodes similar to Big Brother.
All of that was until V3.
A year later, sixteen students go missing, and everyone prepares for the worst.Series
