Adrien still couldn’t believe it. What were the chances? Out of all the people in Paris, he and Marinette had been chosen to become superheroes. This was fortunate in itself because it changed his life forever and brought the most important person into his life.
But more than that, they had been meant to find each other without the masks as well. It was something that even Master Fu himself couldn’t have predicted. That they’d turned out to be so close to each other, that they would become friends, that they would be even more.
All the times he’d told Ladybug that they were meant for each other, she’d scoffed and turned up her nose at the suggestion. But he’d been right, that was the thing! Because how else would they end up falling in love with each other not once, but twice!
He knew he didn’t stand a chance from the beginning. He’d seen different sides of Marinette and had fallen in love with both. Even when he hadn’t been able to recognise the feelings for what they were or he hadn’t wanted to admit it for fear of betraying his one true love.
Stupid, so stupid. Since of course he’d fall in love with her without the mask even without knowing it. He had known that from the beginning, it had just happened in the most unexpected way - at school, with his friends, when he hadn’t been looking for it all.
And for her it had been the other way around. She’d given her heart to the kind boy with the umbrella and she had been determined not to let the sneaky cat get there as well (her words). To his luck, she hadn’t succeeded.
And while in any other situation, this could have caused them pain and confusion because how do you love two people, it had been the best kind of fortune. It had been fate leading them to each other, it had been the force that made them unable to resist the attraction.
Now they both knew this and it was the best thing in the world. He only had to convince her that since they had found each other in every possible way, they would be fools to give up on their chance to be together. Hawk Moth and dark forces and ill-wishers be damned, he wasn’t going to give up on her, never.
The thing was, he no longer doubted his ability to succeed in this. He had everything on his side. He was more than sure that the stars would align to let them be happy. Because this was them. They were meant to be together.
