Day-9 Prompt: Family

"Mommy, I will marry the pink-haired girl in my class."  Little Sasuke declared to his mother the first day he went to his ninja academy.

Mikoto smiled at him and squealed at her son's cuteness, "Is it, Sasu-chan?"

With his big, dark eyes filled with excitement, 5-year-old Sasuke nodded his head and said, "Yes, mommy. She is the prettiest girl with pink hair like the cherry blossoms in our garden. She is very shy and turns red whenever I try to talk to her. Why is that, mommy?"

Mikoto was laughing internally. She had such a gullible boy. She said, "Sasu-chan, try to talk to her. Be nice to her. "

Sasuke nodded his head in mock seriousness.

"So, what is this about Sasuke getting a new crush, hmm?"

Sasuke ran towards Itachi and engulfed him in a hug and exclaimed, "Nii-san, you are back."

"Hai, Sasuke-kun. Now tell me about you pink-haired crush."

Itachi was amused at the red face that his little brother was sporting at the mention of his crush.

"Come on, little brother, I can't hear you."

Sasuke turned into a darker shade of red and almost yelled, "I will marry Sakura. She is the nicest and the prettiest girl."

"Oh, I see. Sakura. Cute name for a cute girl."

Sasuke began to describe Sakura animatedly while Itachi was listening to him with mock rapt attention. It wasn't every day that Sasuke called a girl nice instead of annoying.

Everything about his childish crush was forgotten after his clan was massacred by his brother. His mind was only clouded by revenge on his elder brother for taking away his clan. He stayed in the Uchiha Main House after the incident but he never entered the room where his parents were murdered.

Sakura's affections for him didn't entirely go unnoticed by him. He didn't want to become too attached to her because he didn't want any distraction from achieving his goal- killing his elder brother

Fighting in the Fourth Shinobi War and meeting the reanimated version of his brother was too much for Sasuke. He tried to hate Itachi for misleading him for almost nine years but he couldn't. He remembered Itachi's last words while he poked his forehead- 'Now, go and marry your little crush. Sorry Sasuke, there will no more next time.'

Sasuke tried to understand what his brother meant by his crush. Except a pink-haired girl, he had never thought about marrying a girl. Itachi wasn't supposed to know about his well-hidden secret crush on his teammate.

After 15 years of his parents' demise, at 21 years of age, Sasuke finally decided that it was time for him to enter his parents' room. He had too much trauma and nightmares in the Uchiha compound. So, he decided that he would give the plot of the compound to Sakura, his current girlfriend, for her promotion as the Medical Director. She was trying to build a children's hospital and the plot was more than enough for her plans. He smirked at the thought of Sakura's reaction on receiving the plot.

He entered his parents' room and turned on the lights which was thankfully replaced by the Hokage. He could still smell the rusty odour of blood in the room even after being cleaned thoroughly. He shook his head and went to the cupboard to retrieve the important scrolls and books.

He opened the cupboard and coughed at the flying dust. The clothes of the former Uchiha Clan patriarch and matriarch were still kept properly. He opened the first drawer of the cupboard and found some important scrolls with the Uchiha Clan symbol printed on them. Next, he opened the second drawer of the cupboard. It was his mother's drawer. His eyes strayed to a journal kept inside it. Curiosity got him the better and he started reading it.

His eyes widened at one of the pages as he began to read it.

'4th August, 2005,

Sasuke-chan came from his academy and declared that he would marry a girl from his class. According to him, her name is Sakura and she has '"pink hair like the cherry blossoms" (Sasu-chan's words). I remember seeing a girl like her when I went to pick him. She is too adorable. I will love to have her as my daughter-in-law. I have always wanted a daughter. I never expected Sasu-chan to do the work for me.

Attached to the end of this journal is a red clip that I want to give to her when she marries Sasuke.'

By the end of the journal entry, Sasuke was sure that his face had turned into the shade of red. At the end of the journal, he saw a decorative red clip with sakura blossoms designed on it. He took the clip in his pocket and went back to his and Sakura's shared apartment.

Sakura was working on her medical reports when Sasuke reached their apartment.

"Oh, Sasuke-kun, you are back."

When she received no response from him, not even a "Hn", she looked at him with a confused expression. He seemed to be fidgeting with something in his pocket.

Sakura got up from the chair and asked him with a concerned voice, "Sasuke-kun, is something wrong? You seem tense."

Sasuke was still miffed at the fact that she could understand what he was feeling just by looking at his body posture. Was it so obvious? He took out the clip from his pocket and held it out for Sakura.

She looked at him win question.

Sasuke sighed and muttered, "Just take it."

"Huh?"

"This is from my mother."

"Mikoto-san?"

"Hn."

"Oh."

She finally took the clip from his hand and looked at it. It was as if the clip was made for her with the sakura blossoms design.

She was still perplexed as to why his mother would keep it for her. As far as she knew, his mother had never met him. She asked him, "Umm, Sasuke-kun. I have a question."

Sasuke looked at her to continue so she said, "Why would she want to gift this clip to me?"

Sasuke's ears turned red which didn't go unnoticed by her. He sighed and took out a crumpled piece of paper from his mother's and held it out for her.

After reading the entry, Sakura had a full-blown smile on her face and her eyes were shining with happiness. Without warning, she jumped at Sasuke and hugged him.

"Oh, Sasuke-kun, I didn't know you wanted to marry me."

"Hn."

Sakura pulled away from him and looked at him, "Sasuke-kun, do you want to marry me?"

Sasuke looked at her and sighed before saying, "Yes, Sakura. I thought that was clear."

"Mama and Papa, I will marry Boruto when I grow up." 5-year-old Sarada declared to her parents.

Sasuke activated his Sharingan and boomed, "No way in hell is my precious daughter marrying that Dobe's son."

Sakura went to him and placed her hands on his shoulders before saying, "Anata, calm down."

Sasuke looked at his wife and sat down. History was repeating itself and Sarada was adamant in her decisions like him. Sasuke resigned to his fate and sat down on the couch before sulking.

END.
