"I'm not good at machines but I'll help you the best I can Mets. I'd get Tails but he's busy right now" Sonic told his robotic partner who was currently sat on the floor plugged into a charging socket on the wall.
Metal looked at Sonic then the toolbox besides him. He hoped Sonic could do something at least since Metal himself couldn't do anything as his arms had been rendered useless after that boss fight.... That Eggman machine had really crushed him up!
Sonic was soon at Metal's side with a screwdriver "okay.... can't be that hard" he reassured Metal and himself.
The blue blur began putting screws back in Metal and connected wires back to where they should be as the fight had jostled them loose.
The ex badnik watched curiously. He scanned Sonic as the hedgehog worked. His partner seemed to be feeling high levels of stress and worry presumably due to the situation so Metal beeped at him.
"You okay Mets? I'm not hurting you am I?" Sonic asked.
There was something about the way Sonic said that which made Metal feel mobian. He was a robot who could not feel pain yet Sonic was so concerned for him . It warmed his circuits.
Metal gave a low beep followed by happy warbling.
"Hehehe. Alright. I'm glad you're okay" Sonic responded as he moved to buff dents out of Metal's chassis.
The ex badnik took the opportunity to rub the side of his head against Sonic whenever he leaned in close.
"Metal! Hahaha! Come on, do you want to be repaired or not?" He teased.
Sometime later and Metal was done up.
Except for once loose hex nut.
"Where does this go Mets?"
Metal took the hex nut from Sonic and stared at it. This must have been an extra part from the toolbox as this was not in his blueprints so he shook his head and gave it back to Sonic.
"Not apart of you then?" Sonic examined it then smirked "actually.... I have an idea"
With that he took Metal's hand in his and slipped the hex nut over the robot's finger "there" he smirked
Metal looked at the hex nut on his finger. Why had Sonic placed it there? It was almost like a ring....
Oh....
That's when it hit the badnik.
Sonic had just placed a hex nut... On the wedding ring finger.
"I see you thinking Mets and it's exactly what you think it is" he held the badnik's hand in his "so.... Is it a yes?"
Metal beeped loudly and threw his arms around Sonic in a tight hug.
"Hahah!! Alright Metal I get you"
Sonic hugged his lover back.
