Work Text:
When I started working at the local fast-food restaurant as a shift leader…. I never thought it would be that hard…. Though it did pay way more than I expected.
Today was just the worst…. Some employees with too big of an ego to ask for help, spilled half of a lemonade container on the floor… which even with moping, the floor stayed sticky… and let’s not forget that this happened during a rush meaning that this was done in a hurry.
After that incident, thanks to the sticky floor, someone dropped a whole box of ketchup packets which to no one surprise exploded leaving the floor even more disgusting than it already was…
With this, the rush hour was still in session and cleaning was not part of the priorities, plus even if we did have time, not a soul wanted to clean…
Though when we did get a break, thank good an employee got sick of the dirty floor and decide to clean, but this was quickly interrupted by a giant order… That had been ordered a week prior… but some of my superiors had forgotten to mention it… so now we had a giant order within the already settled rush… Which did make a couple of the employee’s panic… but I knew better than to do that… though I did cry in the office for a good ten minutes after the rush finished...
Then after the rush and my crying session, some customer complained his order was made wrong…. Because we didn’t give his drink before his food… I wonder if people lose brain cells when they order or they are just like that all the time…. In the end, we remade everything giving him his order like he wanted to...
Now I wish this would have been the end of things… but apparently, the universe hadn’t done enough… three of the employees were suddenly sick and had to go home early… Leaving me and two other people to deal with the restaurant till its close, which I will have to do alone…
Finally, the day ended, but now… it was 11 pm and I had to close alone… cleaning all the machines and floors, counting the money in the registers, making sure the headsets are all charged for tomorrow, more cleaning.
Usually closing would take 30 minutes, it had been an hour before finally putting the keys in the door. The day was finally over, now usually I would walk home as it’s 15 minutes away… but from the exhaustive shift… the bus would be the better choice tonight.
After finishing inspecting the perimeters, I made my way to the parking lot where a car was parked, though it was not there when I had locked the door, I approached it slowly until I notice the person standing was my girlfriend, Kyoko.
I rushed to her and hugged her, squeezing her tightly, which took her by surprise, she chuckled while brushing the rebel strands of hair, “I’m guessing it was a hard shift?”
“The worst ever… so much happened…”
A couple of minutes went by, you were still hugging her, face pressed in her chest, “Y/N?”
“Mmmh?”
“Maybe we should head home.”
“Sure… but why are you even here?”
“Well, when I came home and saw you weren’t there, I waited for a while and you never came so I came here to check if everything was fine”, she said brushing your hair with her fingers.
“You could have texted me to ask me.”
“I know, but you would have asked me to let you walk home, in the day I wouldn’t mind but in the evening it’s not safe.”
“Mmmh, protective much,” you looked up smirking.
“Let’s head home, you must be exhausted.”
“Yeah…”
You broke the hug and plopped down on the passenger seat, thanking Kyoko for holding the door open for you. The smell of paper and coffee invading your nostrils made you smile, she sat beside you, “You smell like lemonade, ketchup and cleaning products… all mixed… what happened?”
After briefly explaining every disaster, she started driving in silence, until she asked a question “You still haven’t told me why it took so long for you to close, usually it takes around 30 minutes?”
She didn’t receive an answer and so she took a glance at you.
Your mouth was open, with a slight line of drool running down your chin. Your eyes were closed and your head rested against the window. She laughed at the sight, she wished she could have taken a picture, unfortunately, with two hands on the wheel, it would have to wait.
After a short ride, she pulled up in your condo's parking and looked at you, deep asleep, still drooling. She got out of the car and opened your door, slowly to catch you. She gave your forehead a chaste kiss and shook your shoulder, "Y/N, we're home... you have to wake up."
To that you slowly opened your eyes, grunting and wiping the line of drool with your sleeve, "Did I fall asleep?" you asked in a raspy voice.
"Yes, you did, quite the sigh if I may say so, but we're home."
"Mmmh."
You let your head fall on her shoulder and mumble something, she smirked, "You want me to carry you?"
"Please..." you said, which was barely audible.
And so, she placed your arms around her neck and took you from under your thighs and arms carrying you bridal style, while you were sleeping on her shoulder, your hot breath making her smile, "I'm sure you handle everything the best you could have, you deserve to sleep."
Though... the smell of your hard work had to be washed away, as much as Kyoko loved you, she wouldn't be able to sleep from the intense smell of lemonade and ketchup, so she set you down on the couch while she got a hot bath ready for you. However, the question was how to get you in that bath without drowning you...
She carried you to the bathroom and sat you down on the floor, undressing you from your smelly uniform she wished she could burn. She woke you up with another kiss and shaking your shoulder, "Help me a bit, you need to take a bath."
Despite your exhaustion, she managed to undress you and place you in the bath... and succeeded to clean you up while you were snoring on her shoulder. She dressed you up in the most comfortable pyjamas you owned and set you down on the bed, you were long gone, well that's what she thought until you gave her a chaste kiss on the forehead, "Thank you."
As you wrapped your arms around her and clung onto her, you fell back into a deep slumber nothing could of awaken you from your sleep, she smiled at you. She never understood why you were so motivated to get a job since she had enough income to make both of you survive.
But little did she know, you did all of this so you could buy her a ring.
