   Summary

   Yujiro was four years old and starting school. He felt bright and, despite also being nervous, he was excited. He hoped to make friends. He, however, didn’t realize that not all four year olds didn’t not talk. A few kids talked to him, but he only responded with a smile or a nod or a simple shake of his head. By the end of the first day of school, he had been ostracized by his classmates, and the teacher had scolded him for not answering her questions.

   By the time he was five years old, he was numb to people.
