Accidentally In Love

Summary:

“Looks like someone is in love with his fake fiancé.” He whispered, hitting Yeonjun’s shoulder teasingly but Yeonjun was too tired to abide him. He lowered his head, closing his eyes. “I know, now shut up.” He said, sounding more desperate than he felt. Maybe he really was hopeless, just couldn’t accept.

Work Text:

“So he said what's the problem baby
What's the problem I don't know”

“Yeonjun-ah!” The young man watched his mother exit from the kitchen and walk towards him with jumpy steps. It was getting harder to believe this woman had passed her fifty with her childish behaviors.

Yeonjun smiled to his mother, putting down the newly baked cake on the stall, the fresh carrot scent was all over the bakery. He hoped the coming conversation wouldn’t be like the others, he had woken up with a good mood today and didn’t want it to be ruined.

His mother stopped across the stall, smiling. “Do you remember Wooyoung, my friend’s son? You were good friends back in the primary school!” She asked.

Yeonjun sighed, closing his eyes to remain calmn. There were customers around. “Mom.” He said gently, opening his eyes, there was a forced smile on his lips. He looked around for help but everybody seemed busy, even his brother Beomgyu was preparing orders in the kitchen.

“Yeonjun-ah, please?” His mother asked, pouting. At times like this, Yeonjun could see why Beomgyu was like the way he was. He sighed once again, turning around and walking to the kitchen trying to escape but his mother followed him. “He is a good guy, a little noisy, but good, I swear!” She yelled behind him, some of the customers looked at them.

Yeonjun face palmed as he entered the kitchen and headed straight to the back yard, he knew his mother would follow him and he didn’t want the employees to hear this conversation, again. To his luck, back yard was empty.

“I’m not going to marry, mom!” He yelped before even letting her to speak. They were having the same discussion at least twice a day, with different groom candidates. Yeonjun wondered how she knew so many people.

“But why?” She whined like the other times. Yeonjun huffed, anoyed. “I want to see you at the aisle with a pretty man just like you and be sure you are at good hands. You see, I’m getting older and I don’t know how much time I have left—“

“You’re just fifty-two.”

“—It’s getting tiring to take care of the bakery day by day and I want a son-in-law to teach the family recipies and keep the tradition. Is it too much for your old, sick mother to ask this?”

Yeonjun cupped his face, letting out a little bellow. “First of all you’re not sick or old, mom.” He said once he took away his hands. “Secondly, I’m already taking care of the bakery and Beomgyu’s handling the recipies just as well, you don’t even have to come here. All you do is yammering me about marriage!” He really was sick of telling the same things every single day.

His mother opened her mouth but Yeonjun stopped her, he was so glad he had his wallet with him. He turned his back. “Where are you going?” She called out.

“To  grocery.” Yeonjun answered, declaring their talk had ended, he waved his hand while smiling.

“Hyung, wait! I’ll come, too!” Beomgyu shouted from the kitchen, Yeonjun knew he was listening the whole convarsation from the little window that the backdoor had.

When he got out, their mother caught him by his arm and whispered something that Yeonjun couldn’t hear but knew it was about convincing him to marriage. He knew his mother so well.

“Don’t even bother, mom.” He said, pointing his brother. “Come in three seconds or I’ll leave you here.” He added as he fastened his steps towards his car.

“So?” Beomgyu said, putting two bags of sugar on the shopping cart. He looked at the older with curious eyes.

Yeonjun sighed, it was actually a miracle that his brother waited for twenty minutes to bring this topic up. He pushed the cart towards the fruit aisleway, Beomgyu following him. “Don’t be mad, I’m just an envoy.” He said, starting to pick some apples. He looked at the older for a second. “Mom said she already arranged a date with the Wooyoung boy.”

Yeonjun huffed in disblief, looking at Beomgyu, waiting for him to say it was a joke or something. But the way the younger was avoiding his glances was enough for him to understand it wasn’t a joke indeed. “Woah!” Yeonjun yelped, looking around, hoping someone would come and say he was dreaming. “Woah!” He shouted again when everything became more solid in his mind. “She really wants me to get married, huh?” He asked.

And right then, something clicked in him.

Yeonjun was a smart guy, he had graduated from business faculty in the first place and he had been taken care of their family bakery for over a year now. But he had done some stupid things such as fighting with a stray cat because it scared him when he was taking out the trash or bargin in the house of neighboorhood’s mad grandma because some kid said he couldn’t. He was a kid back then.

But he was too fed up with his mother attitude about this marriage thing, so he did something stupid again, even for him.

He left the shopping cart, turned around and grabbed the first person he saw. The boy who was taller than him looked at him, shocked. If Yeonjun wasn’t that angry at that moment he would appreciate his cuteness—and handsomeness.

“Hey, sorry to bother you.” He said. “But would you like to marry me?”

There was a two seconds silence before the boy spoke.

“These lines of lightning
Mean we're never alone”

“I still can’t believe he said yes! This is insane!” Beomgyu shouted, laughing while Yeonjun was in a trance, looking at the number that was newly saved as Choi Soobin. Both brothers were too shocked to understand what was happening right now.

“Hyung!” Beomgyu grabbed the older’s shoulder quickly, making him to leave his trance. “He can’t be a cannibal or something, can he?” He asked, dead serious, his eyes were glowing with worry.

Yeonjun made a sour face, half confused half concerned. “Why would there be a cannibal buying grapes and strawberries in the 21th century, in Korea?” He asked. Beomgyu opened his mouth to answer back. Yeonjun closed his mouth, shaking his head. “Forget it, I don’t want to hear your weird thoughts.” He said quickly, taking his hand back before his brother could lick it.

He removed the car key from the ignition, exhaling deeply. He looked at Beomgyu again. “Don’t tell this to mom, I have to be sure that Soobin is reliable before doing anything more stupid.” He said and left the car.

It was going to be a long night for him.

Yeonjun looked at the steel door in front of him for a while, having second thoughts once again. It had been two days since he proposed a stranger at a grocery store. They didn’t contact after that, Yeonjun was too scared to message the other.

But now, he was in front of the boy’s small apartment, sweating nervously. He wiped his wet palms on his jeans and rang the doorbell before running away with his tail between his legs. He had messed up once and he had to clean it up.

The door opened a few seconds later, revealing a tall, raven haired boy who had a big smile on his thin lips, a dimple popped up, catching Yeonjun off-guard. He hadn’t realized Soobin was this cute while… well, you know, proposing to him.

“Hi, Yeonjun-ssi!” Soobin chirped when he saw the young man standing in front of him. They met eyes and a smile set free on Yeonjun’s lips. “Hi, Soobin-ssi.” Yeonjun said timidly.

“I was starting to think you got me tricked.” Soobin said, his smile turned into something more cheerful. Yeonjun chuckled, nervous. He didn’t think they would talk about it this early but he knew they had to at some point. He opened his mouth to speak but something—no, someone came running from behind, bumping Soobin and make him lose his balance.

Yeonjun caught the taller body, preventing him falling. Their faces were closer than they should’ve been, their eyes locked on each other’s. Yeonjun smelled the chocolate chips that was mixed with vanilla essence from him, his favorite aromas… That made Yeonjun feel something in his chest, something ticklish which he didn’t know how to name it.

“Uncle! The oven’s making those weird sounds!” A child said, catching the taller’s attention. Soobin pulled himself quickly, murmuring an apology while doing so. Yeonjun whispered it was okay, trying to even his heartbeats. Then he looked at the little girl who Soobin turned to, she was smiling in the way showing her missing teeth.

Soobin’s eyes got wide and he dashed off to inside, leaving Yeonjun with the little girl alone when Yeonjun was thinking it couldn’t get weirder.

“Hi!” The girl said, waving her hands at him enthusiastically. Yeonjun smiled at her, kneeling down to meet her eyes easily. “Hello there, sweetie.” He chirped, he always liked the children. He reached out his hand, smiling widely. “I’m Yeonjun.”

The girl returned the smile as she shook his hand. “You’re the pretty man that my uncle’s talking about.” She said, looking at him attentively and making Yeonjun feel so small under those curious brown eyes. It wasn’t like he wasn’t aware of his own charms, but it always made him feel odd hearing it from other people.

“Areum-ah!” Soobin came back, laughing nervously. Yeonjun guessed he had overheard the last sentence which his niece said. Yeonjun chuckled, standing up after caressing the girl’s soft hairs. He met eyes with the taller man, a light rosy shade had covered his ears.

Soobin gave him a smile, gesturing inside with his head whilst holding his niece by her shoulders. “Come in, Yeonjun-ssi.” He said, a little shy, then he looked down. “Aruem-ah, your cookies are ready, come!” He added, smiling sweetly. Yeonjun could see the adoration in his eyes.

Three of them went to kitchen, Yeonjun smelled the buttery chocolate chip cookies. “You were baking?” He asked, looking at Soobin who was helping his niece to sit down on the chair. Areum looked at him with joyful gleams in her eyes. “Yes, my uncle is the best!” She said.

Yeonjun smiled, nodding. That was probably why the taller smelled like chocolate at that time. He looked at said man, his ears were getting a darker colour. Yeonjun found it so endearing, the blush that was spreading on his ears. Yeonjun couldn’t shove away the thought of wanting to see him like this more.

“So!” Soobin said, trying to get away from the spotlight. Although Yeonjun wanted to tease him more to see how much he could blush, reality held him back. They were just strangers. He hummed instead, telling he was listening to him.

“About the?..” Soobin asked, putting some cookies on a plate. Yeonjun’s eyes went between Aruem and him, thinking would it be okay to talk about this marriage thing in front of her. Soobin must’ve understood his hesitation, he smiled as he placed the plate on the middle of them. “It’s okay, she’s my little secret keeper.” He said, winking at her. Areum giggled back, she looked at Yeonjun and put his index finger on her small lips, trying to wink.

Yeonjun laughed at her cuteness. If he knew he could meet this cutie pie he would’ve proposed Soobin sooner.

Ah, right… The propose.

Yeonjun cleared his throat, a sudden uneasiness washed over his chest. “I’m really sorry, again.” He said, lowering his head a little. “It must’ve been really shocking when a stranger came and proposed to you.” He added, playing with his fingers anxiously.

Soobin giggled, giving Aruem a glass of milk. He turned his back then, walking towards the cupboard. “You’re not a stranger, though.” He said while taking out two mugs. Yeonjun’s eyes got wide with surprise, a  billion possibilities went through hs mind in a second. He almost started to panic, not knowing what to do.

“Oh my God, I’m sorry!” Soobin yelped, turning to look at Yeonjun, he seemed panicked as much as the latter. “I should’ve started less creepy, I’m sorry, Yeonjun-ssi.” He said, hiding his face behind his large hands for a second. “I come to your bakery time to time, I really like your breads. That’s how I know you, by name and face.” He whispered, lowering his hands. The look in his face reminded Yeonjun a quilty puppy, asking for forgiveness. Yeonjun knew he couldn’t be mad at him while he was staring like this.

“Oh? I see, it’s okay.” Yeonjun said, smiling to assure him. Soobin smile as well, his ears were like tomatos now. He turned his back once again, taking two tea bags from a drawer, almost dropping the whole box. Yeonjun couldn’t help but to smile at his clumsiness.

“I swear me being at the grocery shop at time was definitely a coincidence.” He paused and sighed quietly. Yeonjun chuckled, taking a cookie from the plate. “I believe you, don’t worry.” He said, inhaling the sweet scent of the cookie. He realized Aruem already had eaten three of them.

“And it’s true that I was very taken aback then, but, uh, I had heard a few conversations between you and your mother.” Soobin spoke softly, like he was too scared if he raised his voice even just a little bit something bad could happen. He poured the boiling water on the mugs. “That’s why I said yes, you seemed so suffocated and I wanted to help.” He came with the teas he had just prepared and gave the pink mug to him, taking the blue one to himself. “And somehow, I trust you, Yeonjun-ssi.”

Yeonjun must have saved their country in one of his past lives, there wouldn’t be any other explanation how he deserved this angel that was disguesed as a bunny looking man. He smiled, biting the cookie on his hand.

It was true that he had eaten so many various cookies in his twenty-three years life, he would recognize their family recipie anywhere. And this almost taste the same, like the ones his grandfather used to do for him when he was seven years old boy. Its’ flavor was a little different but it made Yeonjun to feel same, safe and loved, joyful like the christmas eve.

“About this marriage play…” Yeonjun started, trying to ignore the tickling in his chest. It wasn’t time to dig into memories. “I can’t really ask you to marry me for real, Soobin-ssi but—“

“Let’s not think about the end of this for now, Yeonjun-ssi.” Soobin cut him off and honestly, Yeonjun was so glad for that because he also didn’t know what to say after that. Soobin gave him a warm smile, taking a cookie for himself as well. “Let’s just pretend like we are engaged for a few months so that you can breath without your mother’s nagging about marriage. After that, we can figure something up.” He said. They met eyes, Yeonjun could see the sincerity in his dark brown eyes and his pretty smile.

At that moment, Yeonjun felt guilty for even doubting him.

“Can I be the flower girl?”

With the sudden question, both men turned to its’ owner. Areum was looking at them expectantly with shining eyes and chocolate stained lips.

It was Yeonjun who started the laughing wave.

“How much longer will it take to cure this
Cause I can't ignore it if it's love
Makes me want to turn around and face but I know nothing 'bout love”

Yeonjun watched the younger boy who was talking to Beomgyu behind the counter, preparing an order while doing so.

It had been a week since Yeonjun offically introduced Soobin to his mother. At first, he thought it would be weird because he wasn’t sure if his mother could accept Soobin as his fiancé so easily. He also thought it would be hard to explain why he hid his “boyfriend of three years” until they decided to get married or why he never acted like he had a lover for the whole time. But—

“Soobin-ah, Beomgyu-ya!” His mother chirped, exiting the kitchen. She skipped her steps to the two men and hooked her arms around them, giving a big, uncomfortable hug. “How are my favorite boys are doing? You’re not tired, are you?” She asked, still holding them.

Yeonjun sighed, shaking his head. Apparently his mother didn’t have any diffuculty to accept Soobin as his future son-in-law. Yeonjun had a suspession that Soobin was already the second one on his mother’s favorites list, after Beomgyu of course.

He looked at them, Soobin was giggling while saying something that was disappearing under his mother’s cheerful voice. The younger’s eyes had become a thin line, his dimples (which Yeonjun was very fond of) were on display, his honey like cheers were all over the bakery—or it was just Yeonjun who heard them loud and clearly.

“Hyung, you look like a fool like that.”

Yeonjun startled with his brother’s voice behind him. He looked at Beomgyu and the last spot he was at. “When did you come here?” He asked, he looked at the counter again and saw Soobin alone with their mother, talking to her excitedly. His eyes were wide while his tall arms were moving around, like he was trying to explain something. Though he had a calm aura, he looked like a child sometimes, living his feelings on the edge. But those little enhusiastic moments suited Soobin.

“You’re doing it again.” Beomgyu snapped his fingers in front of the older, pulling him into the reality. Yeonjun looked at him, frowning but he didn’t say anything back, just continued to review the account book. But he could see the grin on his brother’s face with the corner of his eye.

Beomgyu opened his mouth but someone joined them. Yeonjun felt Soobin’s hand on his shoulder. “Hyung.” He said softly, bumping the side of his head to the older’s. Yeonjun smiled, trying not to act weird when he knew his mother was watching them from behind. He was fine with these kind of actions, he really was and this was the problem. Yeonjun liked how Soobin acted like his fiancé a little too much.

“Is it really okay for you to help us, Soobin-ah?” He asked, wrapping his arm around the younger’s tiny waist. It was so abnormal that it also felt normal how they acted this close when they had met just a week ago. Yeonjun would’ve thought it was the fate which was playing with them if he was religious enough.

Soobin nodded with a bright smile, Yeonjun had to stop  himself poking the dimples that showed on the younger’s cheeks. “I don’t have anything better to do.” He said genuinely.

Yeonjun had learned Soobin studied literature and he wasn’t working at anywhere currently. He also learned that the younger liked baking so much, thus he was coming to their bakery, much likely to Yeonjun’s mother’s delight.

“I really can’t believe you hid Soobin from me for three years!”

Talk of the devil and (s)he is sure to appear…

Yeonjun forced a smile as he turned back to face his mother, his arms still around the younger. His mother’s eyes followed the way his hands, throwing a knowing smile at them. Although Yeonjun wanted to say so many things he bit his tongue.

“By the way, boys.” His mother said, coming closer. Yeonjun didn’t like the expression on her face, he could already feel the coming danger. “I realized none of you wears any ring?”

Yeonjun looked at Soobin with a pure panic in his eyes. There was an alarmed gleam in the younger’s eyes for a moment, but it replaced with a calm smile soon.

“It’s because I gained a little weight, aunty.” Soobin said, reaching out his large and delicate hand. “We didn’t realize it went to my fingers until hyung tried to put the ring on.” He added, side-eyeing the older for support. Yeonjun nodded. “It was a bit embarassing to bring the ring back for sizing.” He said, trying to sound like he was disappointed of himself for that.

“I blame your chestnut cakes, aunty.” Soobin reproached, taking her arm as he tugged her to the kitchen. “It’s still unbelieveable how good they taste.” He spoke again before letting her speak. They entered the kitchen as his mother replied something that Yeonjun couldn’t hear.

Yeonjun sighed, relieved. It was this little but the most important detail which both of them had forgotten. “We were almost done for.” He said more likely to himself. “Soobin saved my stupid ass with his smartass.”

Beomgyu cleared his throat, taking his older brother’s attention. Yeonjun almost forgot he was still here. The younger wiggled his eyebrows, leaning close. “But you still have to buy him a ring.” He whispered, maybe a little too much joyful.

Yeonjun was aware of that fact either and the image of himself picking an engagement ring for Soobin, even though he knew it was just for a play, made something tickle inside his stomach.

“So I said I'm a snowball running
Running down into the spring that's coming all this love
Melting under blue skies”

“Here, hyung, try this!” Soobin opened a container and slid it across the picnic table, his eyes were shining with expectation.

Yeonjun munched the last bite of his ham sandwich that he had prepared for their “picnic date”. Today’s weather was beautiful, cool enough to wear jacket and warm enough to stay out for a long time. Thus, Yeonjun asked Soobin if he wanted to go on a picnic and he agreed. So here they were, on Seoul Forest, enjoying their forenoon while getting to know each other better.

Yeonjun smiled at the younger’s enthusiasm. He took a dasik from the container, the strong essence smelled delicious. “Did you bake this?” He asked, raising an eyebrow. Soobin nodded excitedly, almost like a child. Yeonjun’s smile got wider as he ate the tea cookie in one bite.

As having a baker family, Yeonjun’s life was spent around the pasteries and desserts. He liked his mother’s baking but his favorite was his grandfather’s. He didn’t only love the things that he baked, he cherished the moments and memories that came with them. He still remembered the excitement he had felt when the holidays were near, not because they meant vacation but because it meant his grandfather would come to Seoul and bake his grandchildren’s favorites.

Moreover, Yeonjun liked the Lunar New Year the most, it always held a special place in his heart. His grandfather would come early in the morning. Yeonjun, Beomgyu and their grandfather would spend the whole day making dasik, having fun together. They would eat the cookies after the celebrations while their grandfather was telling them stories. And they would always taste like… just like this.

“Why are you looking at me like that? Is that bad?” Soobin asked worriedly as he took a cookie for himself. “No, no!” Yeonjun replied, shaking his head when he realized he had been dozing off for a while—like almost everytime he was with Soobin. “The opposite, it tastes amazing, Soobin-ah!” He added.

Yeonjun was shocked by the similarity, he even would’ve thought his mother helped Soobin if the latter had come to the bakery yesterday.

“Really?” Soobin asked, biting his own cookie. Yeonjun nodded as he took another one, assuring the younger who still had a hesitant look in his eyes. Soobin smiled then. “I’m glad you liked it.” He whispered, looking down as he munched his dasik.

Yeonjun watched him, his mouth moved just like a bunny which was eating something, so squishy and cute. The older smiled, without noticing he stopped what he was doing, just looking at Soobin. He wondered why he never noticed Soobin on their bakery, he was sure that he couldn’t forget someone like him. A tiny part of him wished he had met Soobin before.

Soobin lifted his head and smiled when they met eyes.  His eyes focused on somewhere behind Yeonjun then, a little endearing smile appearing on his heart-shaped lips. The older followed his glances and saw a couple that was riding bikes.

An idea popped in Yeonjun’s mind, he stood up quickly and reached out his hand to the younger. Soobin looked at him confused for a second but took his hand, standing up and letting the older to tug him. “Hyung, where are we going?” He asked, giggling.

Yeonjun rented them two bikes. Soobin was so cute while cycling around, his happy giggles were blending with birds’ chirps. Yeonjun watched the younger from behind, the spring breeze was messing with his raven hairs and the sunbeams which succeeded to escape from the large trees shined on his milky skin, making him dazzle. He sometimes waved at the children or elders. And the whole time, his endearing smile never left.

Yeonjun couldn’t help but realize he was so beautiful, and not just by the surface. Soobin had a wonderful heart that made him the most precious person in the world who Yeonjun liked so much.

Yeonjun stopped his bike when he became aware of his own thoughts. His heart was beating fast, his breaths uneven. The dark blue velvet box inside his pocket felt heavier each second, the familiar tickling was inside his chest again. Everything felt so right in a wrong way.

“Soobin-ah!” He called out before giving himself a second to think twice. Soobin stopped and turned around. Yeonjun cycled to him quickly, his heart race was increasing. Soobin smiled at him when he stopped again, getting off the bike.

“Is something wrong, hyung?” Soobin asked, following his action. Yeonjun shook his head, trying to smile. He was too nervous to give him a proper smile.

Yeonjun reached his pocket, the small box felt so big to take out. What was wrong with him, why did he feel like this? It was just about a play, he wasn’t going to propose for real.

Maybe that what was wrong. This was just a play.

He took out the ring box, he could feel the sweat drops on his forehead. It took so much effort to act calm.

“Here!” Yeonjun yelped, opening the box. “We can finally say that the sizing is finished.” He added, turning his eyes away and chuckling nervously.

Soobin gasped and Yeonjun felt his long fingers around his own, the younger held the box to look closer. “Hyung, this is so pretty!” Soobin said, surprised. Yeonjun looked at him, his eyes looked like melted chocolates under the sunrays, shining with awe.

Yeonjun’s worry flew away when he saw the younger happy. He had spent three hours and half while picking this minimalist silver diamond ring that also had a mini sun figure inside of it—don’t tell Soobin yet but he also bought himself a moon one. He liked the ring so much however he was still insecure if Soobin would like it, thus he had waited for a few days until-finally-deciding to give it to him.

Yeonjun smiled, taking the ring out of the box. He looked at the younger hesitantly. “May I?” He asked while pointing his finger, he hoped Soobin wouldn’t notice his shaking voice and hands.

Soobin nodded, giving his large hands to the older. Yeonjun held his hand, steadying it as he slid the ring on the younger’s fourth finger. “You really have a good taste.” Soobin said, examining the ring—their engagment ring. Yeonjun’s smile grew bigger as he hummed, viewing the younger’s movements. The ring suited Soobin just like Yeonjun had imagined.

“It does look like we’re engaged now.” Soobin said.

Yeonjun’s smile dropped without his permission. Soobin was right, they looked like they were engaged when they had met just two weeks ago.

But lord, Yeonjun had fallen for Soobin so hardly…

“Never ever end of all this love
Well I didn't mean to do it
But there's no escaping your love”

“Hyung!” Yeonjun looked at his brother, getting off his daydream. He hummed when he realized he had zoned out for a while. His caution had been a mess since he gave the ring to Soobin, he also had started act weird around the latter. His feelings were making everything worse.

“Are you okay?” Beomgyu asked, sitting next to him and caressing his shoulder. He acted like a brat most of the time but Yeonjun knew he cared about his brother as much as himself did. The older nodded, his glances turned to the counter before he noticed. Soobin was talking to a customer with a bright smile, he gave the woman her bag. The silver ring shined on his finger.

Yeonjun sighed, taking his head between his hands. Every time when he saw the ring he felt happy at first the cliché butterflies were all over his stomach. When Soobin looked at him and smiled, it felt like they were truly lovers. Then reality hit him like an ice cold water, reminding him that this was all fake and he couldn’t even wear the ring he had bought for himself. They were not a couple to do that.

Beomgyu smiled knowingly when he followed the older’s glances.

“Okay, I didn’t expect that reaction.” Beomgyu said, this time serious. “Hyung, what’s wrong?”

Yeonjun turned his head and looked at his brother. “You just said, it’s fake.” He answered, he knew there was no use to act fine in front of him. “A few months more, then it’ll be over.” He looked at Soobin once more, the younger caught his eyes and smiled at him, waving his hand. Yeonjun replied with a smile, maybe he should enjoy the time he had and hope for the best.

Beomgyu poked his side. “But it doesn’t have to end.” He said, pointing the older’s pocket where Yeonjun kept his own ring. Yeonjun wasn’t even surprised how he knew it, this was Beomgyu.

“What do you mean?” He asked, frowning. Beomgyu sighed, shaking his head. “I knew you were an idiot but this is too much, hyung.” He said but before Yeonjun could do anything he continued. “Go and ask him on a real date, make clear that you actually like him.”

“But—“

“Trust me, hyung. I saw the way he’s looking at you.”

Yeonjun stayed quiet for a few seconds, he still had his doubts but something in him was whispering that Beomgyu could be right. Well, he hoped he was right.

Yeonjun stood up and walked towards Soobin before he could lose his courage. “Soobin-ah, can we talk for a moment?” He asked, smiling but he was more nervous than the time he gave the ring.

“Oh? Okay, hyung.” Soobin answered, looking at the older with big eyes, waiting for him to speak. Yeonjun felt so small under his gaze. He looked back at Beomgyu, his brother gave him thumbs up, trying to encourage him.

Yeonjun turned to Soobin again, taking a deep breath. Thank god his mother wasn’t here today. “I was wondering if you’d like to go on a date with me.” He murmured, turning his head as he sctrached his nape. He looked at the younger with the corner of his eyes. “For real.”

Soobin’s eyes got wide but there wasn’t any sign of discomfort, he was just shocked. Yeonjun knew he couldn’t go back from here, he had already decided to listen to Beomgyu. He looked in Soobin’s eyes, trying to seem confident but his mind was in pure chaos.

“I know we’re in this complicated situation but I don’t wanna be fake lovers anymore, Soobin-ah.” Yeonjun spoke softly, while looking at the younger’s bright chocolate irises his anxiousness flew away. “Do you think we can start over our relationship?” He asked, still a little afraid.

Soobin smiled, his eyes shined even brighter. “Or we can just drop the fake part.” He said, leaning in and before Yeonjun could process what was happening he kissed the older.

It was just a little peck, like what a middle schooler would kiss for the first time. But it was the most beautiful first kiss Yeonjun ever had.

Although Yeonjun couldn’t see he heard Beomgyu’s surprised noises behind, he wasn’t at a better state either. He looked at Soobin, dumbfounded. The younger smiled, his eyes became  thin lines as his dimples made themselves seen. “I’ve liked you since I first saw you here, Yeonjunnie hyung.” He said cutely.

A foolish smile spred through Yeonjun’s face, all his doubts vanishing. “Good to hear that, ‘cause I like you too, Soobin-ah.” He said.

Soobin’s eyes dropped to the older’s pocket, raising his eyebrows. “So…” He said, his heart-shaped lips curving up. “When are you going to wear your ring, hyung?”

“You knew?!”

“We are accidentally in love…”
