Trust Behind the Mask

Summary:

Jason wants to be able to make choices as Robin, including who he can trust with his identity.

Disclaimer - I don't own Young Justice or Miraculous. This was written for Day 12 prompt (Trust) for Jasonette Month 2021. Also for Froday Flash Fiction Little Special for July 2021 where one needs to write a story which is 100 words or more that is either all dialogue or no dialogue.

Trust.

Batman drilled it into the heads of both his protege that they needed to be careful of who they trusted in the superhero community, yet every single one of the people who Jason might trust his identity with—allowed to trust his identity with, were decided upon before he became Robin, mostly by Batman, though Dick had a few choices on his own.

Trust.

Jason didn’t feel he’d have the chance to find someone he could trust, someone he might want to trust because they were in fact friends. Trust was something that was earned, yet one needed to build friendship and bonds, yet he found himself struggling to make such bonds within the team, which in turn left him feeling empty.

Everything changed when Ladybug joined the team, albeit with that Cat Noir.

In some ways she was like his older foster brother, looking out for everyone and wanting the best, with that smile—smile that he wanted to not forget and instead burn into his brain. Jason found himself wanting to trust her, to take off that mask in front of her while he stared at that face.

So, he’d thought about telling her, of slipping off the mask only for her to stop him, smile, and lean in, almost for a kiss. He honestly wasn’t sure if she returned the feelings, but her movements said that it wasn’t yet time, yet she appreciated the gesture, which meant that...
