“Tell me something, Miss Lance”
“Well my girlfr-fiance, my now fiance proposed to me.” Sara tried her best not to show it, but you could tell she was very giddy about being engaged to her now fiance.
“Alright, tell me how you felt.‘
‘At first, I was scared. Anyone in a relationship would be scared I think. Like who starts a conversation with-“
“Can we talk?” Her girlfriend sounded serious so instead of coming up with a witty remark at that, Sara nods her head and moves to sit next to her on the couch. Looking up at her partner, she sees a faint expression of apprehension on Sara’s face.
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry.” she said (with what she hoped was a reassuring smile), “I didn’t mean it like that. It’s nothing bad I promise.”
“When she said that it wasn’t bad I felt a little bit calmer. I was still confused on what she wanted to talk to me about and some of my insecurities shot up.”
In her head, Sara was going through the things she might’ve done during their job of scouring time and making sure everything is how it has to be. Even though her girlfriend reassured her that it was nothing bad, she still couldn’t help but feel anxious about the whole thing.
Upon hearing the sound of her partners voice, Sara’s icy-blue eyes shot up to meet greyish-blue ones searching for any type of emotion. She saw nervousness and one other look that she couldn’t really decipher, it did nothing to decrease Sara’s insecurities.
“Then just out of nowhere she just started talking.”
She took a deep breath and, “You know I love you right?”
“Yes”
“So here’s the thing,” she paused took another deep breath and she noticed a flash of fear shoot through Sara’s face for a split second, “I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want to wake up in the morning and smile knowing that I’m yours forever. I want to be with you through the good and bad.” She puts her hand up to stop Sara from saying anything or interrupting her speech. “I know you think you’re damaged and don’t deserve anything but you’re wrong. You deserve the world. You’re an amazing woman, you’re a reformed assassin who has died more than once, lost her soul, escaped a demon realm, became a paragon of destiny, blind and you could still kick ass and see the future, a time traveler and most importantly, a Legend. I love you more than you could ever imagine and I’m proud of you.”
“And then it happened.”
“And I’ve been wanting to do this for a long, long time.” With a newfound confidence, she got down on one knee, “Sara Lance, will you make me the happiest woman alive, and marry me?”
“In that moment I was so excited I froze. After what felt like forever I got up and-”
Sara launched herself at the woman she loves with all of her heart and pressed her forehead against the other womans. They made eye contact for a second before Sara closed her eyes and pressed their lips together for a heated kiss, pouring her love into it before pulling away.
“Now I’m engaged!” She said with the upmost excitement and a grin on her face and she lifted up her hand so the 'woman' she is talking to can see the ring. It was a simple wedding band with a diamond in the center (Sara wasn't a big fan of shiny and flashy jewelry and her fiance knew that so she got something simple. It's not like the size of the ring counts for how much they love each other).
“Congratulations, Captain Lance.” Her therapist, the AI of the Waverider, Gideon stated.
“Yes, Ava Sharpe, I’ll marry you.”
