Evelynn’s mind spun. When she opened her eyes, she found herself in an empty forest clearing. Tall, willowy trees surrounded her, standing guard as she glanced around in confusion. She looked down at herself; instead of her office attire, she found claws and lashers, and mere shadows covering her body.
“Evelynn.”
“There you are. I’ve been waiting for you.”
Evelynn looked up—but her vision swam before she could take a good look at the woman.

Evelynn laid there, limbs starfishing as she stared up at the ceiling for a moment. The quiet allowed her to sink into her thoughts, shifting through the scenes of her dream. “That dream again…”
