Work Text:

Y/n sat herself down next to Maki. She looked ahead, seeing the dark streets of Tokyo. “How are you? You feel better?” Y/n asked the taller girl. Maki nodded, still silent.

“Have you forgiven Itadori yet? ” Maki suddenly asked. Y/n huffed, looking at Maki. “Yeah. I know he didn’t mean it. Besides, it wasn’t him, it was Sukuna.” Maki nodded, staying silent.

“What about you?” Y/n asked the green-haired girl. Maki looked at her, thinking about it. “I suppose.” Maki answered. After that, both of them went silent. Y/n looked back down, fiddling with her fingers, trying to distract herself from the silence.

Maki’s hands held hers, stopping her fingers from fiddling. She looked up, seeing Maki’s beautiful brown eye, only one remained. She traced her hand on the scar. Y/n felt her hands tremble, blaming herself for not being able to protect the girl.

“Stop blaming yourself.” Maki said as if she was able to read the girl’s mind. Y/n looked down again, not knowing what to say. “You did all you could, so please don’t blame yourself.” Maki placed a soft kiss on the girl’s cheek.

“Do you forgive me for not being able to protect Nobara?” Maki chuckled lightly, shaking her head. “You stubborn little girl. You weren’t even there, how were you going to save her. Plus, Nobara put it upon herself, she made the choice in the end.” Maki said, holding onto Y/n’s hands tightly.

“How about Inumaki? Is he fine?” Maki nodded, pushing a strand of hair behind Y/n’s ear. “You know, you should stop worrying. Not everything is your fault you know?” The green-haired girl said. Y/n glanced at Maki.

“I know. It’s just, after all that’s happened, I can’t help feel guilty for everyone that died.” Y/n said, voice shaking slightly. Y/n gently traced her fingers on Maki’s face, cupping it and kissing the girl on the lips. Maki kissed back, smiling.

“I love you. please don’t leave.” Y/n whispered, voice weak. Her forehead rested on Maki’s shoulder, feeling tears fall down her cheeks. “I won’t, I promise.” Maki whispered back, playing with Y/n’s hair, gently.

Y/n smiled, thinking about all the memories they had before the incident. “I hope all of them are resting peacefully now.” Y/n mumbled as more tears fell. “I’m sure they are.” Maki said, looking up, trying to stop the tears.

The two of them remembered all the times they had with everyone, the good and bad. In the end, the both of them knew that this was unstoppable. That one day, all of those moments will become merely memories, memories to be cherished. The two hope that they know that they’ll never forget about them.
