Work Text:
It had been a long night for Tubbo. He spent the majority of the week planning out builds for Snowchester, so he hadn’t had much time to relax or even sleep. He had also been under a decent amount of stress with the threat of the missing nuke. When Ranboo entered his office, they found him passed out on his desk, drooling on his planning sheets. Ranboo knew how hard he had been working to make Snowchester a safer and happier place for the citizens, but they were worried that maybe he was overworking himself. They made their way over to him and brushed his hair out of his eyes. They smiled when they saw his peaceful expression. But that smile faded when they moved their gaze to his hair. As a Moobloom hybrid, Tubbo had a few flowers growing in his hair. They should have been a bright yellow, standing tall in his hair, but at the moment, they were shrivelling up, clearly struggling to stay alive. Ranboo gently took their husband in their arms and carried him to their shared room. They placed Tubbo on the bed, planting a kiss on his forehead, before tucking him in. Ranboo then made their way to the kitchen to prepare for the next day. They knew what they could do to help their husband.
Tubbo woke up a couple hours later in a warm bed. He sat up slowly, a bit dazed, and rubbed his eyes. He didn’t remember going to bed, but he wasn’t one to complain. His stomach growled in hunger, but he tried to ignore it as he made his way back to his office. When he exited his bedroom, he was stopped by Ranboo.
“Morning, Boo. I was just about to go to my office. I’ve got some work to do,” Tubbo said, voice a bit groggy from sleep.
“Morning, but I actually had a surprise planned for today. Do you think you could take the day off?” Ranboo looked at him, hopeful.
Tubbo groaned in faux annoyance. “Fiiiiine, but you better help me collect materials for the builds I’ve got planned, bossman.”
Ranboo grinned and took his hand, dragging him to the kitchen. When they entered, Tubbo saw Michael in his bee jumper and overalls sitting next to a wicker basket.
Tubbo tilted his head, “What have you got planned?”
Ranboo chuckled, “Well it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if I told you, would it?”
“Ughhhhhh fine.” Tubbo feigned annoyance, but couldn’t help but smile at his husband.
He went over to Michael and picked him up, giving his forehead a smooch. “Good morning, love.” Michael responded with happy snorts. “Alright, well I’m ready whenever you are, bossman.” He set down Michael, who then grabbed his sleeve.
“Alright, let’s go. It isn’t too far, so we can walk.” They picked up the basket and led their husband and son out the door.
They walked for around half an hour, making comfortable conversation, until they arrived at a flower forest biome. Tubbo gasped as he saw it. It was beautiful. There were flowers of all heights and colors, the grass was green and soft, and there were bees buzzing happily all around the biome. Tubbo quickly ran over to a pink tulip, his favorite flower, and plucked it off the ground. A bee flew over to him, landing on the flower. As Ranboo and Michael caught up with him, the bee flew off. Ranboo took the flower.
“Boo, it’s beautiful,” Tubbo said, breathlessly.
Ranboo placed the flower behind his ear. “Not as beautiful as you.”
Tubbo blushed, laughing. “You big sap! Stop tactical flirting!”
“Never!” Ranboo picked him up.
Tubbo yelled with laughter, “Stop! Put me down! I’m being ambushed!”
They set him down gently, the two of them giggling. They brushed a piece of his hair out of his eyes. “I do mean it though.”
Michael squealed, causing them both to flinch in surprise and look at their son. He was holding a bee in his hands, smiling brightly.
Ranboo and Tubbo sat down next to him. Ranboo then said, “What have you got there?”
Michael oinked in response.
“Michael like-a-da bee,” Tubbo said, chuckling. Michael squealed.
The bee flew out of his hand onto a nearby flower. Michael layed down in the grass to look closer at it.
“Do you want to know what kind of flower that is?” Tubbo asked, laying next to him.
Michael looked at him and nodded, snorting quietly.
“Well, that one is a poppy,” Michael pointed to another flower, “that one’s a cornflower, that one is a lily of the valley, and…”
As he went on, telling Michael about all the flowers, Ranboo went over to an open area. They opened the basket, taking out a blanket and some fruit. They laid out the blanket, setting the basket and the fruit down on it. “Tubbo, Michael, come here!” They called out.
Tubbo picked up his son, jogging over to the blanket. They sat down, Tubbo next to Ranboo with Michael in his lap. “Boo, this is amazing. I don’t know what to say, just, thank you. Thank you for all this.”
“Hey, you deserve this. You’ve been working so hard lately. You needed a break. Have a pear.” They handed a pear to Tubbo and Michael picked up some grapes.
They sat there just enjoying the day and eating fruit. They all then moved to the grass as Tubbo taught his husband and son how to make flower crowns. After a while, Michael gestured for Tubbo and Ranboo to go away, so they went to lay on the blanket. They were cloud gazing when Ranboo spoke up.
“You know, I was worried about you. You were barely eating or sleeping. I know how much you care about Snowchester and our family, you just wanted to protect us, but you need to think about yourself too.” They looked at Tubbo, worry in their expression.
Tubbo took their hand, thumb rubbing their hand comfortingly. “Don’t worry about me, bossman, I’m fine. I’ll be okay. I always have been. I know how to take care of myself, I mean, I’ve been doing it for most of my life.”
“I know, but you shouldn’t have to. You deserve to have someone take care of you. You know how much I love you.”
“I do, but honestly, I’m fine. You don’t need to worry.”
“Tubbo, your flowers were dying. You don’t take care of yourself like you should. I missed you. From now on, we’re going to take lunch breaks together. I can help you take care of yourself. I love you, Bee.” Ranboo stroked his cheek.
“I love you too.” Tubbo cuddled close to them.
They sat there in peace before they heard Michael’s squeals. They sat up and saw him running over to them, hiding something behind his back. He made them close their eyes before placing something on each of their heads. When they opened their eyes, they saw that he had given them flower crowns, another one on his own head.
“Wow! These are so good!” Ranboo praised.
“I love them! Thank you Michael!” Tubbo exclaimed.
Micheal squealed as they picked him up, holding him between them.
As they enjoyed the rest of the day together, Ranboo noticed that Tubbo’s flowers were standing tall and bright. They knew then that he would be okay.
