He really did his best, but at the sight of the small pout on Phainon’s lips, he let out a small, breathless laugh and moved to hug him, swiping the stray tears before they evaporated. “I’m sorry about that. I really am, but your wing was acting up a little and I couldn’t ignore it forever.”
“...Ahh…” Phainon at least had the decency to look sheepish. “I’m still learning to control them, though sometimes they start to move without my knowledge.

“That being said, however–” he shifted his attention to Khaslana– “the walk to the Grove is not an easy one, and given the state you're in, it's not safe for you either.”
“I agree,” said Dan Heng, stepping up beside Khaslana. Raising a brow, he continued, “If I remember Hyacine’s words correctly, didn’t she say your metabolism was running low, and you shouldn’t be walking long distances without supervision? Or at least have something to eat on hand, in case your energy dips and you get lightheaded halfway through?”
Those sharp teal eyes bore deep into his dull blue ones, and Khaslana found himself shying away from his gaze, the tips of his ears growing warm. Sometimes he tended to forget the Vidyadhara helped out at the Courtyard, and he had a record of almost every patient entrusted to him by Hyacine herself. Plus, he was currently staying with them for a week and a half while the Express was away on an emergency run.
One and a half weeks. And Dan Heng had only arrived two days ago. Khaslana couldn't shake off the nervous energy in him.

Summary
Looking back, Phainon wondered what had been running through his mind when he insisted he could handle the situation on his own. Sure, he could have dealt with the Titankin with ease (after all, he had been the one guarding Okhema long before Mydei had ever set foot in the city), but fighting alone felt foreign to him now. He’d been fighting alongside his comrades for much longer; his brain was wired to move in tandem with their moves, not by himself.
The Titankin weren’t even in a large group to merit a huge cause for concern either. Waiting for Mydei was the better option, but nope! He had charged straight into the battle without a care in the world. If he hadn’t been there to pull him out of his predicament…he would’ve been….he would’ve…
Aeons, he was such an idiot.
Or, Phainon gets injured during battle and is stuck at home. Luckily he has company in the form of one Khaslana

It has only been about 20 minutes since the competition started and Mydei seemed to be faring fine so far. "We're just having a little contest, that's all. Nothing wrong," Mydei brushed it off so casually that it somewhat reassured Castorice, yet she couldn't help but ask. "I see... Are you sure the two of you aren't fighting?"
Mydei raised a brow at that. Them? Fighting without reason outside of sparring? Ridiculous. "No? Is it that unusual for us to not be together?"
"Yes."
"..."
Phainon and Mydei compete to see how long they can stay away from each other without folding. Chaos ensues and everyone suffers from their stupid shit.
