It was a given fact that Izuku would forget his own birthday. Tamaki knew it, Mirio knew it, Hado knew it. Even Granny Akatani knew it. So, when Izuku’s mother pulled Tamaki aside a week before the date and told him about it, the Hero student knew what to do.
July 15th was Mirio’s birthday too, so he began planning and recruited several helpers.
The party went off without a hitch. Neither Mirio nor Izuku had expected the party that had been set up at the café. All the regulars were there, as well as some of the Hero students' classmates and friends. Inko stood next to Granny Akatani, a large homemade cake bearing icing drawn images of calico cats and the torso and cape of Mirio’s hero costume.
The cats were all wearing small party hats, Mochi’s bigger than the rest. Hado, with hands quicker than the eye could see, shoved pairs of cat ears on Mirio and Izuku’s heads.
Tamaki smiled softly and took Izuku’s hand in his, “Happy Birthday.”
The two were soon crowded by the party guests, all wishing them a happy birthday. Some even giving presents to the two teens.
Izuku and Mirio were having a blast. Friends, family, loved ones all around and giving him well wishes. Talking, joking, laughing with each other. Music played, people danced.
Aizawa-san even stopped in while on patrol to give the two teens each a small present and well wishes.
Izuku, taking the lead from Mirio - who was twirling around a cleared-out space with a giggling Hado, pulled Tamaki onto the makeshift dance floor. Tamaki was shy about dancing in front of so many others, but as always he could never say no to the man he loved.
The barista had never had such a fun birthday.
