“Now, we shall sit in a line,” Fischl started, with numerous brushes, combs, and oils around her, “And we will comb each other’s hair, as such is the ritual of being around the Prinzessin.” She figured that doing each other’s hair would make their friendship official.
Convincing Razor was easy, he had assumed that combing each other’s hair was similar to the grooming that his Lupical would do, but Bennett was a bit harder to convince. He was worried that something might happen related to his luck (as he always did), but eventually, he caved into the idea. Now, they were sitting on the floor of Fischl’s house as she distributed the combs and oils.
“...Brush?” Razor mumbled, confused. Grooming his Lupical meant that he was using his hands and occasionally his teeth. To use a brush seemed inhibiting, almost.
“You don’t have to use a brush, Razor,” replied Bennett, the future recipient of Razor’s brushing, “Using your hands is fine. I don’t mind. It’s my first time doing something like this,” he ended cheerily.
“Usage of thine hands is perfectly acceptable, dear friend, however, thou must make certain that thine hands are free of imperfections,” Fischl added.
Seeing a confused Razor, Oz quickly translated, “Mein Fraulein means that it’s ok to use your hands to comb Bennett’s hair as long as you wash your hands beforehand.”
“Oh!” Razor softly smiled and started to the sink to quickly wash his hands.
“D-do we stay sitting in line while Razor’s gone?” Bennett chuckled nervously. He wasn’t used to being this close to anyone, nevermind royalty.
“Of course!” she proclaimed loudly, taking the ribbons off of her pigtails, “Does thou have the correct materials?”
“Yup!” He then picked up one of the spritz cans. ”What’s the oil for?”
“Tis to moisturize the hair before combing,” Fischl said. “Dost thou not use such healing potions?”
“I didn’t even know you were supposed to use oils,” he mumbled sheepishly. “How often do you use them, Prinzessin?”
“Once in the mornings and once after showering.” It took all of her strength to suppress an uncharacteristically giddy laugh. “I’m certain thin hair is acceptable,” Fischl quickly added.
“Oh, that’s probably why your hair looks so pretty!” Bennett blurted, ignoring her last statement. Fischl reddened a bit, but was happy to hear the compliment. She worked very hard to make sure that her hair looked well taken care of.
Razor walked back in. “Finished,” he said, showing Bennett and Fischl his hands.
“Great!” Bennett said excitedly, tapping the spot behind him. “Sit here!”
Razor nodded and took a seat, happy to get started. As he began to roughly comb through Bennett's blond-grey hair, Razor began to lightly smile. It felt good to be taking care of his friends. He wasn't a wolf or a boy in his friends' eyes: he was Razor.
“You are like Lupical,” he stated matter-a-factly, “My heart feels...warm.”
