Work Text:
Kelly sat on a bed in the physio clinic as a doctor instructed him to move his body analysing the level of movement. She writes some notes and excuses herself from the room talking with some other doctors just outside. When the doctor comes back, she grins at him and tells him he will be clear for duty, he’s ecstatic his whole way home and when he walks into the kitchen to see Leslie and Clarice making breakfast he beams and says
“Full duty starting next shift!” Leslie wraps him in a tight hug and Clarice offers him congratulations.
Leslie and Gabby were walking through the firehouse on their way to the laundry as Leslie shares with her the good news.
“Yeah. I mean, things are working out surprisingly well, considering Clarice is in the bathroom every ten minutes. Severide is just... he's been totally cool since she moved in.”
“That's nice of him.”
“I mean, going up and down that spiral staircase with a baby, that's gonna suck. But we should probably just leave him up there until he can walk down himself.”
“Um, I get that you're not a huge fan of Clarice, but we're a couple now, and I'm looking to basically be a stepmom. So I need your support.”
“Oh yeah of course” she nods bur her heart isn’t there “I’m uh sleeping with the squad replacement” she offers up
“Peter Mills? God I knew it. I had a feeling. You kept it from me this whole time?”
“We agreed to keep it cool at work so”
“Does Casey know?”
“I don’t think so”
“Are you gonna tell him?”
“Do you think I should?”
“So you’re over him?”
“Look, he zigged, I zagged. Wasn't meant to be.”
“How's the sex with Mills?”
“I... I really like him, but it's not just a physical thing. So let's just say he's very... detail-oriented. But here's the problem. He wants me to meet his mom, and I'm... I'm just not there yet. What would you do?”
“Detail-oriented, huh?” Leslie smirks as the bells go off Ambulance 61, Truck 81, Squad 3.
“Driver fled the scene, but the passenger's pinned in there pretty good. Door's jammed. We gotta cut her out. Cruz, Otis, be prepared to assist squad with the pin in.” Matt says as Leslie and Sylvie approach the car
“Are you hurt anywhere?” Sylvie asks as Leslie climbs into the backseat of the car to put a C-collar on her neck “Can you tell us your name?”
“Ambrosia.” She slurs out as blood trickles down her face
“Oh, yeah? You working tonight?“
“A little. And you were in my dreams.” She says looking into Sylvie’s blue eyes right before she passes out
“Whoa! Hey, hey, hey! Come here, sweetie. Hon, what did you take, sweetie?” Sylvie asks flashing a torch in her eyes as Leslie looks at her arm
“Brett, track marks.”
“Hey, Casey, how long till we get in there?” Sylvie asks
“Five, maybe ten. Let's go” when the finally pry the roof off the car and pull Ambrosia from the passenger seat they load her onto the gurney when Leslie begins to inspect her
“She’s gonna arrest”
“We gotta get her to the hospital now.” Sylvie nods. When they get her into the ambulance and drive away Matt looks to Mouch and Peter
“Fifth heroine OD this week What the hell's going on?”
Matt stood outside the prison with an umbrella up fighting the rain. Rick stood next to him with a bouquet of red roses in his hand.
“Yeah, I asked Nancy what was on her bucket list once she got out. She didn't get the reference. You forget how closed off these prisoners are in terms of movies and popular culture and stuff. Little things that we take for granted. I'm just gonna give my congratulations, and then I'll let you two have your time together.” Rick says
“Sounds good.” Matt mumbles the gate buzzes and Nancy, along with a handful of other ex prisioners walk out. Matt smiles and approaches her wrapping her in a tight hug.
“Can't believe this is really happening. Rick. Thank you.” She smiles taking the flowers
“I'll drop by once you get all settled.” He nods walking away Matt moves so Nancy can get under the umbrella as the two walk to Matt’s car.
Kelly walked into the firehouse for the first time in over a month. The whole Squad table erupt in applause as they get up to hug him, hearing the commotion from inside everyone else comes out to say hello to the wounded soldier. He hugs the members of squad, Gabby and the chief, Herrmann cracks a joke about his neck being 100% better and Otis walks up to Kelly with Pouch in his arms
“Hey, this is, uh, Pouch. The best damn thing to ever happen to this house.”
“Otis is transferring.” Mouch announces
“What?”
“Come on. It's not like I'm being rocketed into space. I'm going over to Morningside.”
“Kelly, as you know, Capp was acting lieutenant while you were gone, but due to the lack of numbers we had to bring someone else in. This is Peter Mills” Boden introduced the young firefighter as he shakes hands with Kelly. “Well, now that you're back, Mills will move over to engine and relieve Jeff Turner for the next few shifts.” Boden explains “Okay, everyone, listen up. Some of you may know Gabby's brother, Detective Antonio Dawson. He has some information from C.P.D. for us.”
“Thanks, Chief. Last few weeks, I've seen a spike in fatal overdoses. M.E.'s office has connected at least a dozen deaths to a toxic batch of heroin. Now be aware, it's laced with fentanyl and in most cases does not respond to the normal protocol of naloxone. We are now approaching each overdose as a potential homicide.” The bells go off before Antonio can finish briefing the members of firehouse 51 on the situation Truck 81, Squad 3, Engine 51, Ambulance 61. Structure fire.
“Looks like the fire's in the back, probably where the kitchen is. Truck, get inside, open up the windows and the exits. Give me a primary search. Engine, get an attack line in the front.”
“Herrmann, Dawson, open up the back. Otis, secure the utilities. Mouch, Cruz... where's Cruz?” Matt asks Mouch who points toward the entrance to the bar where Joe is already trying to pry the door open.
“Cruz, put your mask on!” Matt orders but he doesn’t listen and heads straight into the building anyway. Kelly follows him in and Joe informs him that there is a person inside. Kelly insists they will find him and heads deeper into the building when the fire explodes causing a flashover
“Fire's in the exhaust system. We gotta get that aerial up to the roof. Herrmann, Dawson, get that ladder set. Just get me a line up there.” Matt orders
“Severide, give me a progress report.”
“Primary search of the kitchen negative!”
“Let's cut a vent.” Matt orders. Joe and Kelly find a man on the floor in the kitchen storeroom and they begin to move him out of the building as Peter Mills and the other members of engine begin to spray the building
“Board-up crews.” Otis sighs
“Why do they always look like gangsters?” Gabby asks
“Because they are. Do you have any idea what these contracts are worth? Vultures.” Otis sighs. Herrmann finishes putting his equipment away and heads over to the ambulance
“Hey, it's not as bad as it looks, old-timer. Kitchen ceiling is gonna need some patching up, but other than that, it's just a lot of smoke damage.” Herrmann reassures the man
“It's a sign to finally get my ass to Florida. Wanna buy a bar?” his offer was sincere, Herrmann laughs but the thought reigns in his head as he stares at the building. Mouch walks up to Joe
“So you a fireman or a kamikaze pilot now?”
“Saved the old man, fire's out. That's all that matters.”
“It matters if you get yourself killed.”
When squad 3 pulls back into the firehouse Boden immediately makes his way over to Kelly and asks about his neck. Kelly insists that if his neck weren’t 100% he wouldn’t be here, to which Boden scoffs and walks away when he spots Matt and Otis
“Otis, Casey, my office.” He orders when they arrive, Boden closes the door behind them “Otis, your transfer just came through. You report to Morningside next shift.”
“Oh, wow. Um... so it's official?”
“Only if you want it to be. Look, we know you made this decision based off of one shift there, but you have had a month to think about it. We want to give you an opportunity to...”
“I'm ready to go, Chief.”
“Otis... we do a lot of ball-breaking in this house. It's not that we don't appreciate you, but if anybody ever crossed the line...” Matt starts
“It's not personal, Lieutenant. Morningside's a smaller house. I'll have a better chance of getting off elevators sooner, and they'll let me drive.”
“They'll be lucky to have you.” Boden says shaking hands with Otis
“Good luck, Brian.” Matt shakes his hand and Otis turns to leave.
At the same time, Hadley saw Sylvie out on a grass patch in front of the firehouse alone soaking in some sun
"I saw you making googly eyes at Dawson's brother. He's married you know. You'd be better off with someone like me"
"You're blocking my sun"
"Sorry. But seriously, what's Antonio Dawson got that I don't"
"I'm not into Antonio. and I'm not into you. When are you going to get that into your head Hadley, I've tried being nice, I've tried letting you down easy, but it's not working so here's some tough love. I'm not interested. No girl is going to be interested if you treat them the way you treat me. you objectify me every chance you get and it isn't okay"
Antonio found Gabby in the common room eating her lunch
“Whoa, what are you doing here?” she asks
“I need to talk real quick.” Gabby stands up and walks not the briefing room
“This ought to be good.”
“If anyone calls you asking if we went to a movie last night, the answer is yes. This heroin thing is starting to blow up a little bit, and I'm damn close to making some busts.”
“Okay.”
“The thing is, the guys over in narcotics, they get real territorial, and they don't want a guy from vice taking collars from them. So I told a little white lie to my boss 'cause I wasn't where I was supposed to be last night, and I said that you and I...”
“can you just say yes if anyone asks?”
“Why do I feel like I'm not getting the whole story?”
“Because you're not getting the whole story. I'm working a case. Will you cover for me, please?”
“Uh...”
“Of course you will. Thank you.”
Herrmann sat in the common room hunched over a laptop while Leslie walked over to him holding a mug of hot chocolate.
“Hey, I just did a little recon on that bar owner.”
“You're not actually thinking of buying it?”
“Me alone? No. But would I be willing to be a part of a consortium? Maybe.”
“All right, first of all, that guy was as old as dirt. Second of all, he did a face-plant off a ladder. I doubt he even recollects making an offer to sell.” Mouch says
“You heard him. He wants to get his ass to Florida. He's gonna sell that place. It's in an up-and-coming neighborhood, he owns the property, and he's got the Brass ring... a liquor license. There's the worm. It's right there. Who's gonna be the early bird? Why not us? I'm telling you, if this place hits the open market, some hipster douche bags are gonna swoop in and print money.” Everyone looks at Herrmann with a blank face before they burst into laughter “No vision in this house. None! Zero.”
Outside, Kelly sat at a chair on the squad table, the rest of the squad were nowhere to be seen when Peter approaches him sitting down across from him
“Hey lieutenant” he starts
“Peter Mills”
“Can I pick your brain for a second?”
“Course”
“I was looking to get a full time placement on squad instead of just floating in and out of the place here and there and I was wondering if- and I've already passed the Squad certification of course, but are there any additional classes that could aid in me getting a fulltime position?”
“Yeah of course, I'll get back to you on that, I don't actually know which ones will help you get a leg up especially considering we aren't actually looking for anyone at the moment.”
“Yeah no I totally get it. Thanks lieutenant”
“Yeah” the two sit in silence for a moment before Nancy walks in breaking the tension between them
“Excuse me? Is Matthew Casey here?”
“Yeah, he's right this way.” Kelly smiles showing her inside
“How'd you get here?” Matt asks
“I took the bus.” She says handing him the pie
“What's going on?”
“Just wanted to see where my son works.”
“This is where I work.”
“are you embarrassed that I'm here?”
“No, of course not.”
“Well, then can I get a tour?” Matt sighs and begins to give the most half assed tour he had ever given in his life, if he gave this tour to a high school kid they would never want to join the fire department
“Yeah. Uh... Um... You saw the truck.” He nods pointing towards 81
“This is your truck?” she asks astonished
“Yeah.”
“Wow.”
“And, uh... Oh, this is Peter, behind you, mom. This is Peter Mills, he’s just filling in here for a while. This is my mom.” Matt nods as Peter pulls her in for a hug
“Oh yes I met you on my way in” Nancy smiles returning the gesture.
“You have got a great son.” Peter insists
“That's very kind of you to say.”
“Oh. May I?” Peter grins taking the pie out of Matt’s arms
“Oh, yes. Please help yourself.” Gabby walks in to see the scene unfolding in front of her and immediately turns and walks in the other direction, going with Matt to the hearing was one thing, but actually stopping, meeting and talking to his mum was another. Not to mention the tension associated with her recent activities with Peter
“Oh, this is, uh, Gabriela Dawson.” Gabby turns around and acts as though she wasn’t deliberately walking away
“Oh. You... you were at my hearing?”
“Yes, that's right. Oh, thank you so much. That just... that meant the world to me, and I'm sure it did to Matthew as well.”
“Oh, ma'am, it was... it was my pleasure, and, uh... congratulations for... well, you know, getting out of... you know.”
“Prison.” Nancy finishes Gabby’s sentence for her
“Yeah. Yep, prison. The big house. The big house... is... they even call it the big house anymore? Probably not, I'm guessing.” Gabby rattles off the tension in the room is so fierce you could cut it with a knife but Nancy seems not to notice
“Ohh. She's adorable! She's an absolute joy. Forget Hallie, this is the kind of woman I've always envisioned you being with.” The three firefighters suck in a breath each of their minds running a million miles an hour.
Later that day, Gabby walks into the bathroom where Peter is washing his hands
“You given any more thought to dinner on Sunday? I g... I just gotta tell my mom if you're coming.”
“Yeah, sorry. Sorry. Dispatch has been pounding us with runs. 47's out of service, so we've just been slammed. And, um, my cousin might actually be staying with me that week.”
“Are you nervous about dinner?”
“Not at all. You?”
“I mean, I'm the one who extended the invitation, so...”
“Yeah. Right. Of course. No, I just, uh...”
“Am I getting in the way of you and Casey?” he asks bluntly, yes their relationship was incredibly new but he cared deeply about Gabby and only wanted her to be happy
“Absolutely not. He's just a friend. I'm only seeing you. I only wanna see you. I just wanna make sure we're not moving too quickly or anything.” She smiles only inches away from his face
“Text me. Let me know.”
Matt was walking down a hallway when Mouch runs up to him
“Lieutenant, I gotta talk to you about Cruz.”
“What about him?”
“He's been acting a little off. You notice that as well?”
“I figured it was a private matter.”
“Yeah, and I keep asking him to tell me what it is, but he won't open up.”
“Then stop asking him about it, Mouch.” Matt bites back
Ambulance 61. Person in distress. Wallingford Motel.
“So how are things going between you and Casey?” Leslie asks
“They’re not. In fact we’ve barely spoken since the accident” she sighs
“The accident?”
“Oh I didn’t tell you, I made you dinner, then you bailed and decided to spend the night with Severide and when I tell you I made way too much food… so anyway I invited him over”
“Wow!” Leslie smirks “See I’m the perfect wing woman without even trying” Sylvie gently nudges her shoulder “Seriously though. if I dug someone as much as you dig him, I wouldn't be able to hide it, especially working together 24 hours a day, side by side.”
“Are you trying to make me feel worse?”
“Brett. You are an absolute badass, but you are so timid in your personal life. I mean take some risks, have some fun” Sylvie thinks for a moment taking in what her friend had said
“You know what, thank you. Excellent point, which you have made before, granted. But I'm at a place in my life where I could really embrace the message. I'm texting him right now.” She takes out her phone and clicks on Matt’s name, what would she even say. “When's Clarice due?” she asks forgetting about texting Matt completely
“Ugh, two weeks. Getting butterflies.”
“Oh, plenty of time. Mm-hmm. Yeah.” They pull up to the hotel and the building manager races up the stairs, they walk in and a man is tied to the bed while a woman, clad only in lingerie is passed out on the floor
“Hey, honey? Can you hear me?” Sylvie asks as the two paramedics begin to check out the woman
“Agonal respiration. She's barely breathing.” Leslie mutters “You get your rocks off watching girls shoot up?” she says louder looking to the man.
“I never force them to do anything. That was completely their thing.”
"Their?” she says standing up and walking toward the bathroom seeing a second girl laying on the floor “There's another girl in here.” She calls out to Sylvie “61 to main. We need another ambulance and C.P.D. for a D.O.A.”
“Oh, God. Can't get a line in. Her veins collapsed.” Sylvie says
“Let me-“ Sylvie moves out the way to let Leslie in, she tries to find a good vein but she can’t, she shakes her head “I'm gonna have to go sub-lingual. If this is the same bad dope, we don't have time for anything else.”
“I can't get her jaw open either” Sylvie shakes her head as Leslie pushs the needle into the girls chin. It takes a moment but the girl gasps for breath
“What's happening?” she asks sitting up
“You're okay. You're all right. My name's Sylvie. This is Leslie. We're gonna get you to the hospital, all right?” they help the girl up and load her into the stair chair as they head off to the hospital.
After dropping the patient off, the two blondes were changing the linen on the stretcher when Leslie sees Antonio walk past. Without thinking Sylvie follows him into the OD patients hospital room to see him yelling at the woman
“What the hell happened? It wasn't enough for you to hit this junk on your own? You had to bring Natalie back into it? She was clean! I told you to stay away from her!”
“Antonio.” Sylvie clears her throat.
“Sylvie” he sighs, her face caused him to calm down and he walks away from Victoria’s room
“What’s going on?” She asks putting a hand on his shoulder comfortingly
“There's this new crew out of New York that's been pushing their way into prostitution, looking for a cut of everyone's action. Those who don't pay, their girls are getting hit with bad dope. That's what's going on. That's who I'm trying to bring down. And I'm trying to get close to these animals, but it's difficult when my informants keep getting spiked left and right!” he starts getting worked up again and by the end of his explanation he’s basically yelling again
“Okay. All right. I get it, okay? We don’t know each other very well but I've never seen you like this before. I’m worried about you. Gabby says keeping secrets from your boss.”
“She told you?” he lets out a deep breath angrily “It's different being a cop than a paramedic, Sylvie. There's a little more to it.” He excuses himself before he can say anything else to his sisters friend.
Matt and Nancy stood in Matt’s kitchen while the parole officer searched through his cupboards.
“I would have put on a pot of coffee if I'd known you were coming.” Nancy smiles
“If you knew I was coming, this wouldn't be an unannounced visit.”
“Yeah, those... those are personal letters.” Nancy speaks up as the woman begins to search through her mail
“As long as you're on parole, nothing in here is personal.”
“Yes, we understand, Officer. Thank you.” Matt speaks up glaring at his mother as he does so, she was making this twice as hard for not only herself but for Matt and the parole officer as well
“Pretty straightforward, Nancy. You're to be in this house from 9:00 P.M. to 9:00 A.M. every day. You're not to consume alcohol or illegal drugs. You are not to associate with any known criminals. And we have an appointment on the 23rd in my office. It's yours to screw up.”
“Well, then you have nothing to worry about.” Nancy smiles, the parole officer excuses herself as Nancy’s phone begins to ring. She picks it up, tells the caller she will return the call and then hangs it up again.
“Rick?” Matt asks curiously.
“Uh, no, I... I called that off.”
“Why? He... he seemed nice.”
“He was too nice.”
“So then who was that on the phone?”
“Uh, a friend.”
“Another pen pal?”
“Wow, you make it sound so tawdry, but, yeah. He was someone kind enough to visit me in prison.”
Otis sat in the locker room clearing out his locker. Kelly walks in with a spring in his step
“Morningside, huh? All right.” He grins rubbing Otis’ back
“Yeah. Yeah, I've heard all the speeches, so, you know, thanks all the same, but you can save it.” Otis mumbles
“What speeches?” Kelly asks
“It's a dead house." "You're throwing your career away." "All you're gonna do is sell T-shirts."
“Oh, I don't have any speeches. I made a hundred bucks off this.” Kelly smiles
“What? Wh... what do you mean?”
“Oh. When you first started, there was a little side action on if you had what it took to make it at 51. I took the under, so to speak.”
“Well, who else bet against me?”
“It was a confidential pool. Hmm. Hey, you made it four years, man. I'll give you that much.” Kelly walks into his locker
“Okay. I get it. It's like a reverse psychology ploy to get me fired up and make me stay, right?” Kelly holds the 100 dollar bill out to him “Son of a...” Otis sighs
When they get back from the hospital Matt approaches Sylvie
“I think your Siri is sending me texts again” Matt takes out his phone “Last night, you sent me a message saying ‘when’s Clarice due’” Matt laughs
“Oh. Sorry about that” she grins
“Oh don’t be, it’s not your fault. I actually wanted to ask if you wanted to come over for dinner tonight- if you don’t have plans that is, I should pay you back for all those times you fed me”
“You don’t have to do that” she shakes her head
“I want to. Come over please, you can meet my mum” he says and then adds “She’s staying with me for a while”
“Right, sure, I’ll be there” she smiled as Herrmann walked up to the two of them
“Hey, can I have everybody in the briefing room? Moment of your time? Thanks.” They wander inside and sit down next to one another in the briefing room.
“As you can see from the prospectus, the offer on the table fluctuates based upon how many of us get on board with the actual offer. Now, it also entails that the owner be carrying the loan himself.”
“70,000? He'll never take it.” Mouch sighs
“Guys, nothing ventured, nothing gained. If he turns us down, he turns us down. I'm just looking for the 7k in cash to get the 10% down. Who's in?”
“I'm in.” Otis raises his hand
“Otis, buddy. All right, we'll keep you apprised while you're over at Morningwood”
“Oh, no, no. I'm actually happy to announce to all you people who bet that I wouldn't make it here that I've withdrawn my transfer request.” The whole room goes silent for a moment when Herrmann speaks up.
“Get out of here with that. No one was betting against you.”
“What?” he asks looking to Kelly. He then sits down crossing his arms
“All right, look. Anyone else? Look, it's a neighborhood bar in Bucktown. We're looking to bring in the new families that have moved in and have thus far been neglected. You're gonna pass up a deal like this? Mouch?”
“Too volatile.”
“All right, Mouch is out. He thinks the bar is built on a volcano. Anybody else? I'm just looking for one more to put in 2,300, and we're whole.”
“I'm in.” Gabby shrugs from her position standing at the back of the room
“Dawson.”
“I'm making an investment.” Leslie turns to her and mouths ‘Are you crazy?’
“What? Plus it sounds like fun.” She smiles. Boden walks into the briefing room walking straight to the front where Leslie was sitting in the front row, he bends down and whispers in her ear as Otis, Herrmann and Gabby continued to talk about their bar
“Shay. Hospital just called. Clarice's water just broke.” Leslie nods and stands up walking out of the firehouse on her way to the hospital.
The three firefighters and the bar owner sat at a cocktail round in the bar as the owner signed a form
“Deal.” He smiles
“Ah, that's amazing.” Gabby smiles
“Thank you so much.” Herrmann says
“You guys saved my life. If you want the place, it's yours. Just got two favors.”
“Name it.” Gabby says
“Don't turn this place into some kind of hipster joint that caters to all these new arrivals.”
“Are you kidding me? Hell, no.” Herrmann shakes his head
“Just keep the charm.”
“You have our word that we're gonna bend over backwards to try to accommodate that.” Otis says
“Oh, you said you had a second favor?” Gabby asks
“Oh, yeah. I promised someone else a little taste, if you know what I mean. Strictly off the books, depending on what he brings to the table. But it's your call as to what size that piece will be.” He explains
“Uh, we're not... we're not really looking for any more partners.” Gabby folds her arms
“Relax, sweetheart, he's a silent partner. Just take care of him.” The amn then walks into the bar
“Sorry I'm late, Mr. Stephanides.”
“No problem, Arthur. Come on in. Arthur's crew boarded the place up after the fire. Free of charge. You're gonna get along just great.” The three firefighters smile at the man who Gabby had called a gangster that morning.
Matt was sitting on his couch waiting for Sylvie to arrive, he had already pre-prepared the roast and was simply waiting for it to cook when Nancy walks into the room putting earrings in his ears
“You look nice”
“I’m going out”
“But- Brett’s coming for dinner tonight”
“Exactly, I thought I’d give you two the place to yourselves”
“I already told her you were gonna be here. Are you meeting someone? Is it that pen pal guy?”
“Yes”
“Your parole officer said you-“
“I’ll be back before my curfew, don’t worry about it”
“I’m worried about it mum. You’re not even 24 hours into being-“
“I’m not going out to sell crack!” she raises her voice “I thought you invited me into your home so I could live my life, but if your intention was to parent me or… or… or somehow get back at me for what happened then you shouldn’t have bothered” she yells
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold up! Nobody talks to me like that, all right? Especially in my own house.” Matt yells
“I'm going to have dinner, Matthew. I'll be back before my curfew. I hope you have a wonderful night.” When Nancy pulls open the door Sylvie is waiting on the other side.
“You must be Sylvie, it’s lovely to meet you dear” she says insincerely before going to get in the strangers car
“Hey, everything alright?” she asks and Matt wraps her in a tight hug
“Yeah everything’s alright” he mumbles against her shoulder “Thank you for coming”
Kelly was sitting in the waiting room nervously he was tapping his leg on the floor when Leslie walks out from the hospital room beaming
“Hey. It's a boy.”
“All right! Come on. Oh, God, he's healthy, beautiful, adorable cheeks. He can't wait to meet you.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.” They walk into the room where Clarice is holding the baby, Leslie gently kisses her head when Daniel walks into the room.
“Do you wanna hold him?” she asks as he walks around the side of the bed picking up his son.
“Look, I don't know what your plans are, but, um, of course I'd love for you to be a part of our lives as much as you can.” Clarice says as he hands the baby back to him and walks out of the hospital room
“Wow. Father of the year right there.” Kelly scoffs as Leslie and Kelly step closer to Clarice when another man walks into the room
“Clarice Carthage and Leslie Shay? “
“Yes.”
“You've been served in the case of Daniel Schwartz versus Clarice Carthage.”
“What is it?” Kelly asks as Leslie opens the yellow envelope
“Petition for full custody.”
Gabby was in the carpark of the hospital walking as quickly as she can to Clarice’s room excited to see her best friends girlfriends daughter when she is cornered by Antonio
“Hey, what are you doing here?” she asks as he walks past her quickly, she runs to stop him grabbing his shoulder “Hey, Antonio, what's wrong?”
“The girl Brett and Shay brought in, the O.D. She bolted. Nobody's seen her for at least an hour.”
“All right, well, what's... what's up?”
“The D.O.A. was my informant for years, and I was gonna start over with Victoria, and now she's gone.”
“Antonio, you need some rest, okay? You're barely making any sense. Let me take you home.”
“I gotta go.” Gabby begins to walk back into the hospital when she hears tires screeching and gunshots behind her. She runs trying to find her brother, when she does she sees him bleeding and pressed against a silver car, Antonio had been shot. Gabby screams for help praying someone would hear.
