Summary
Their lives: their courses were too diverted for so long. He felt like he and Sylvie were simultaneously drifting and crashing together without even knowing.
In hindsight, he thinks they were inevitable. He was bound to reach the tipping point; bound to see the clouds part, the sun shine down and illuminate on her.
He couldn’t see it clearly for five years, but now that they are engaged; it’s clear as day.
Something—something small, fleeting and disguised— had always been there from the start.

Summary
Surrounded by the uplifting beat of Blondie, she soaks it all in. Capp, Tony and Mouch are at one table, probably up to no good. On the other side of the room, Violet and Ritter laugh over Stella's umbrella-adorned signature cocktails. Matt and Cindy are swaying together on the dance floor, beaming smiles on both their faces. It’s easy to pretend things are back to the way they were two years ago. It's easy to pretend everything is alright.
Except it's not. Not by a mile.

Summary
Kelly is glad Stella is going out for a girls' night with Sylvie while he is away at the arson program, even though it means his phone will be quiet for the evening. But when the quiet is broken by a frantic Violet calling to say Kidd and Brett are missing, Severide does the only thing he can: he calls Matt Casey and catches the first flight home to meet him in Chicago. They're going to get their girls back, no matter what it takes.
Meanwhile, Sylvie and Stella find themselves hostages in a battle that is so much bigger than themselves.

Summary
Somehow, the thought of seeing Matt again never crossed her mind. How stupid was that? Of course, it was bound to happen. They have friends in common after all. But as long as he’s in Portland, she could push it out of her mind. Her denial comes to a crashing halt, knocking the wind out of her and forcing her to drop on the wooden bench in between the rows of lockers.
Six weeks. Just six weeks until she sees Matt Casey again and she’s not sure how to feel. Happy? Anxious? Sad? All of the above?
God, she’s a mess. She and Matt were friends before everything else, weren’t they? It shouldn’t be too hard to get back to that.
Right?
