Tiny Little Baekhyuns

Summary:

“Did you seriously just growl at me like that?” His voice is heavy with disbelief and what’s even more surprising is Baekhyun doesn’t budge. “Yah, Byun Baekhyun did you just growl at me?”

Or alternatively, "Things you said at 1 am"

Notes:

It can be a sequel but also a stand-alone, I think.

Work Text:

Jongdae hates bringing Baekhyun to his parent’s house. To be more truthful, he hates going to his parent’s house. It’s not because he hates seeing his parents and that his parents are mean and degrading people.

It’s quite the opposite, Jongdae loves his parents and looks forward to seeing them in the pack house for the weekly pack meetings. And even when he grumbles and complains about intrusion of privacy whenever his parents’ barge into their apartment, unannounced – he lowkey loves it because his parents would bring in fresh fruit and properly cooked meals.

It’s just that Jongdae hates going to his parent’s house.

Not only because they would have to stay overnight and Jongdae and Baekhyun would have to share Jongdae’s tiny little bed for the night. His alpha father Changmin would give Baekhyun endless stories about Jongdae’s awkward and embarrassing stories from his puberty stage. His other dad, Minseok, would also encourage Baekhyun to drink with them.

Actually, encourage is a generous term here because his Dad, with the complete knowledge that Baekhyun is still trying to get to his good side and that the poor little alpha will never say no to his future father-in-law, would somewhat coerce Baekhyun into drinking with them.

One problem is that Baekhyun has nonexistent alcohol tolerance. It’s another problem that both of his fathers can tolerate high levels of alcohol. Jongdae would have to drink half of Baekhyun’s drinks, in his dire attempt to save his mate from alcohol poisoning (and maybe from sharing inappropriate stories to his parents), but it’s only so much he could do.

However, tonight is different – because tonight Jongdae has gotten a call from their friend Chanyeol to help him with the proper pregnancy medications and supplements for his mate Sehun. It has been a trying and tiring evening because Sehun proves to be extra sensitive in all aspects.

By the time, Jongdae comes home to his parent’s house – Baekhyun is passed out on the floor, while his parents are casually conversing on the floor.

Jongdae then crosses his arms, pops his hip in one leg, and then looks at his parents pointedly. It’s almost comical how his parents look at him with a mixture of fear and shock. Like two kids caught stealing candy.

“He only drank two bottles of soju, he didn’t even finish the second one,” His dad Minseok immediately defends himself. At the same time, his father Changmin says, “We made him drink that hydrate packet you always make him drink.”

His parents’ pouts at him which prompts Jongdae to pout at them in return, “His upper limit is one bottle,” Jongdae whines as he kneels beside Baekhyun. At least, his mate looks adorable. The apples of Baekhyun’s cheeks and the tip of his nose are a little red, but other than that he looks deep in slumber – letting out small little snores.

“Dad help me carry him to his room,” Jongdae commands his alpha father, everyone knows that Changmin will do all the work and Jongdae would just be there for Baekhyun’s moral support. Changmin easily complies with his son’s request.

“Babe,” Jongdae calls in a silent whisper, he also taps on Baekhyun’s shoulders. At his call, Baekhyun easily stirs awake.

“Hmm?” Baekhyun drowsily blinks followed by a yawn. After a few blinks, Baekhyun’s unfocused eyes recognize Jongdae as he goofily smiles at the omega. “Hi pretty.”

“You’re so drunk,” Jongdae ruffles Baekhyun’s soft locks and Baekhyun leans into the touch, his eyes closing as he releases a minute alpha purr.

“I’m not drunk,” Baekhyun sounds seconds away from slumber, “I’m Baekhyun Byun – Kim? Byun? Kim-Byun? Not drunk, only Byun Baek.” For a second Baekhyun falls asleep until he mumbles out, “The luckiest alpha in the world mated with the prettiest, smartest, beautifullest, omega in the world.”

Jongdae traps his lower lip in between his teeth, he has been mated with Baekhyun for years now and how the alpha manages to make him blush over the stupidest compliment is just ridiculous at this point. Although, there’s no denying that Jongdae still loves it very much. “We’re getting you to bed now,” Jongdae tells him and Changmin then pushes Baekhyun up.

Thankfully, Baekhyun is a cooperative drunk – in no time he’s carefully tucked under the covers peacefully sleeping on the bed. Stripped from clothing except for boxers because after Jongdae forced him to drink a bottle of water some of it spilled in his shirt and decided to discard everything all together.

Jongdae cleans himself up and then joins his mate in bed, Baekhyun immediately makes space for him – arms wrapped protectively around Jongdae while the omega is tucked under Baekhyun’s chin. Jongdae makes a quick check at the clock and it’s already past 1 am.

“Good night, love,” Jongdae whispers as he presses a kiss on Baekhyun’s collar bone before he presses in against the alpha’s chest to sleep.

He hears Baekhyun hum and Jongdae is about to drift when Baekhyun suddenly speaks up, “You know,” His voice sounds so slurred, Jongdae thinks twice if it’s something he should pay attention to or maybe it’s just Baekhyun’s drunk rambling. “Your parents kept asking me when do we plan on having you pop out little Baekhyuns to roam the earth…”

Jongdae doesn’t respond. He doesn’t even breathe as Baekhyun’s slurred words float up into the air and sink down to his skin.

Oh… Kids.

Honestly, they have never discussed kids or, at least, they never discussed it seriously.

Not because they’re avoiding the topic and that they’re iffy about the idea. It’s just that the prospect of having kids never occurred to them. Not when Baekhyun’s work hours would go from a simple 10am to 7pm, which will then extend to God knows when. Also, Jongdae would go on days with no end practically living in their company’s laboratory.

They haven’t discussed kids yet and they’re not going to start discussing it when half of the participants are drunk and snoring. But the idea of having their own little bundle of joy running around, their laughter bouncing off around the walls of their apartment brings a smile to Jongdae’s face.

Jongdae wakes up the next morning to the smell of soy sauce, eggs, and coffee all complimenting the perfect mix of rosemary, wood, and strawberries. Just as expected, he finds Baekhyun walking into the room with a breakfast platter. He can’t help but smile at the baby pink frilly apron wrapped on Baekhyun’s front matching the baby pink bunny headband he has on.

“Good morning, love.” Baekhyun visually preens at the greeting, like a cute endearing puppy.

“Good morning, babe.” Jongdae meets Baekhyun halfway when the alpha leans down for a kiss. He feels the smile on Baekhyun’s lips when Jongdae a couple times more. Baekhyun lays the platter across Jongdae’s lap and then he sits at the edge of the bed.

Now, Jongdae is smiling for a different reason – before him is a big bowl of rice with a plate of vegetable omelet, seasoned tofu, and kimchi with a tall glass of iced coffee. There’s also another glass of milk for Baekhyun.

“You know, I’m not much of a brag,” Baekhyun says with a smug look on his face, all in faux bravado. “But I plated it.”

Jongdae laughs at that. He and Baekhyun have both grown through the years – together and individually. But one thing is that they’re still dreadful in the kitchen. Jongdae remains trapped to his baking skills and as for Baekhyun – Baekhyun didn’t even try to improve.

“My personal chef,” Jongdae coos at him. They both dig into the food, or Jongdae digs into the food while he occasionally feeds Baekhyun a couple spoonfuls of rice and omelet. His heart sours a little bit when Baekhyun happily grins at him while munching the food.

At that moment, Jongdae forgets that he’s feeding his fiancé and it’s like he’s babysitting a kid.

Kid.

“You know,” Jongdae tries to sound as casual as possible as he starts the conversation. “Yesterday when you were drunk… you said something to me…” His effort to be casual results in his pronunciation becoming careful. He really doesn’t know what the outcome of this conversation would’ve been, but what worries him the most is what would be his own reaction.

“Oh? Something I should be worried about?” Baekhyun looks at him with wide and curious eyes, the alpha opens his mouth – in a silent demand for Jongdae to feed him.

Of course, Jongdae indulges the puppy-man. “I’m not quite sure.” He deliberates for a second, not because he was thinking on whether he should tell Baekhyun – but on how he’ll say it. “You asked me when I want to have kids.”

Silence envelopes them.

“Or more specifically, you said ‘when do we plan on having you pop out tiny little Baekhyuns to roam the earth’ – with the confidence that our kid will look like you.”

Baekhyun slowly chews his food, but Jongdae can see the inner workings of his brain processing the information. There’s a spike of panic in the air – it’s quite faint and probably stemmed from shock.

Jongdae has the urge to reassure Baekhyun that he was simply informing the alpha of the conversation. And not that they need to make the conversation now. But his own wolf was a little opposed to the idea – that’s why he let Baekhyun sort his thoughts first before speaking up.

When Baekhyun finally swallows his food, “Well…” He looks at Jongdae with so much seriousness and intensity, Jongdae’s wolf immediately succumbs to the stare. “Do you want to have kids? Because, if we’re being honest, it’s only your opinion that matters here because you’ll do the baby carrying stuff while all I’ll have to do is pop a knot.”

Jongdae lightly punches Baekhyun at how ridiculous he puts it. Baekhyun dramatically screams abuse and they both burst into a fit of giggles.

“You’re so fucking stupid,” Jongdae the jab is light and doesn’t have any heat to it. “I can’t believe I imprinted on you.”

“Well, Lupa likes me very much – and she thought that a great and mighty alpha like me should have a greater and mightier omega, obviously that’s you.” Jongdae deliberately rolls his eyes, but Baekhyun is so used to it, he doesn’t even pause and continues on. “But she knew I wouldn’t have a shot with you, so she pulled some strings with her daughters, the fates, and had us imprinted.”

Jokingly, Jongdae clicks his tongue and says, “Now I’m stuck with you. Ever wondered what it would be like if we didn’t im—” Baekhyun cuts him off with a growl. The growl catches Jongdae off because it’s not like the ones Baekhyun would cutely do. This time there’s a slight threat to it that has Jongdae raising his eyebrows in surprise – also his inner omega makes a little whimper, but Jongdae is far too baffled to pay attention to his own wolf.

“Did you seriously just growl at me like that?” His voice is heavy with disbelief and what’s even more surprising is Baekhyun doesn’t budge. “Yah, Byun Baekhyun did you just growl at me?”

There’s a certain sharpness in Baekhyun’s features that contrasts against the cute little pout in his lips. Guilt outlines his posture, “I don’t want you to make jokes like that. It’s not funny.”

Jongdae softens at Baekhyun’s words and how petulant he sounds. “Babe…”

“I never wondered what it would have been if we didn’t imprint on each other. I have you in my life right now and I wouldn’t want it any other way.” Baekhyun stares directly at Jongdae’s eyes. The warmth in Baekhyun’s words envelops Jongdae and the omega feels his heart soar. He reaches out and cups Baekhyun’s face – small thumb caressing the alpha’s cheeks. “Because I really and genuinely love you, Jongdae.”

Jongdae breaks into a smile as the blush creeps up into his face, “Why are you randomly dropping sappy speeches like that?”

“It’s a requirement!” Baekhyun then adds, “If you want to have kids with your mate you need to make a grand declaration of love for them.”

“That’s some bullshit Chanyeol told you,” Jongdae drops his hand in favor of lightly punching Baekhyun. Baekhyun then breaks into a wide grin, “You’re lucky that my speech was only less than a minute long. Chanyeol’s speech was 8 pages long.”

“Sehun would probably fall asleep before he went to the second page,” and they both laugh at that.

After they finished breakfast, they both talked about the timing – or why “now” is not the best time for them to have a baby.

But they could start trying to have a kid next year. They settle on the specifics of their plan on the coach in the living room while they wait for Jongdae’s parents to come back.

“We need to get married first,” Baekhyun suddenly bursts out, “I mean if you want to have kids, we need to get married first. Not because it’s a requirement, but because look at Chanyeol and Sehun – they’re at their fourth kid and they’re not even engaged, but I think it will be better for our kid if they’re born into married parents. I mean your dad will probably castrate me if I get you pregnant without a ring in that finger. Not to mention what your sister would do to me and my mom, holy—”

Before Baekhyun could ramble on, Jongdae beats him to it – he cups Baekhyun’s cheek and says, “Yes – we’ll get married, first.” He flashes Baekhyun a warm smile, Baekhyun presses a kiss on his pulse point before he mirrors a lazy smile.

“Get married, then have crazy heat sex, then get a baby,” Baekhyun says it like he’s a coach discussing their gameplan to the team and Jongdae just snorts in laughter. Baekhyun joins him in until the alpha’s face morphs into a confused look. “Holy shit, that means I have to propose first.”

Baekhyun has heard so many stories about how crazy the emotions of pregnant people could get. So, when Jongdae was feeling nauseous 24/7 and couldn't keep his food down, he could confidently say that he saw it coming. He didn’t realize that the “crazy emotions” meant that Baekhyun would no longer be Jongdae’s alpha-mate – no. It meant that Baekhyun is Jongdae’s public enemy number one.

He sort of gets it – Jongdae probably has 100 different emotions fighting to take over his mood and sometimes he could only relieve himself of those internal battles when he directs his frustration to Baekhyun.

Just like this one time, Baekhyun received a call from his own mother – giving him an earful about maltreating Jongdae. At that time, Baekhyun was not just confused but mortified. Only for his worries to subside when he found out that the “maltreatment” was because Baekhyun hid their last bottle of strawberry jam. “I hid it because Jongdae can’t stop bawling his eyes off because he said he felt bad for murdering the baby strawberries.”

Baekhyun doesn’t have any other choice but to take it, all of it. Because he knows, after Jongdae’s emotional episode, he’d guiltily cling to Baekhyun with a pout sitting prettily on his lips – mumbling how sorry he truly is.

Through time, Baekhyun learns how to live with all of the craziness – his body already acclimated with how perpetually cold their apartment would be, with their AC at full blast. (Despite the cold, he would often come home to Jongdae only dressed in a tiny pair of boxers and a muscle tee – with the first time it happened the omega bristled at Baekhyun when the poor little alpha couldn't help but stare at his half naked mate. “I literally feel I’m incubating a miniature sun in my stomach instead of a pup!”)

He learned how to fall asleep easily when Jongdae pushes him away at night.

Just like right now, when Jongdae pushes him away, Baekhyun instinctively rolls away to the farthest part of the bed. Because Jongdae (even when he’s only past his second trimester) wants to occupy 98% of the bed, leaving a tiny space for Baekhyun. Because even though he pushes Baekhyun away when the alpha cuddles close (Jongdae says it’s because he feels hot), Jongdae still cannot sleep at night if Baekhyun is not there with him. Baekhyun learned the hard way when he slipped away from their bed and slept on the couch, one night, to give Jongdae all the bed space he needed only to find the omega sleeping on top of Baekhyun.

He was already drifting back to sleep when he hears a tiny and faint whimper.

Almost immediately, Baekhyun turns to looks at Jongdae. “Babe?” He rubs his eyes to see better, and then he finds Jongdae clutching one of their extra pillows – there’s a sheen on Jongdae’s eyes. Normally Baekhyun wouldn’t pay it much attention because it might be his eyes playing tricks on him. But this time, he smells Jongdae’s scent getting mixed with the nasty smell of distress. It’s only faint, but it’s enough for Baekhyun to expertly extract Jongdae from the pillow pile and into his arms.

Jongdae immediately snuggles. Mushing his face Baekhyun’s chest.

Now the real battle begins, because Baekhyun has to carefully thread his tone in the perfect way where he doesn’t sound too brooding nor too apathetic. “What’s wrong?”

For a good minute nothing follows and Baekhyun thought that Jongdae might have fallen asleep. But the omega then turns his head up – chin resting against Baekhyun’s chest. Baekhyun can see Jongdae’s teary eyed and with his lips a little wobbly.

Before speaking, Jongdae first lets out another whimper – the beads in his eyes threatening to fall. “Our kid will look like you.”

Jongdae’s words remain suspended in the air – before Baekhyun’s sleep-ridden brain fully absorbs the meaning, he then breaks into a smile. “You’re so silly,” he says before he places a kiss on Jongdae’s temple.

“I’m serious! Baekhyun!” Jongdae whines, hitting Baekhyun lightly with a soft fist. Baekhyun only dips down to kiss the pout on his mate’s lips. “Well, we did plan on making tiny little baekhyuns.”

Notes:

Hehe. I promise I can offer better baekchen fics in the near near NEAR future. I am just frustrated with myself for not posting Baekchen fic, so this is more to appease me heheh. This is part of a ongoing twitter series.
