Magnus smiles as he takes his canape into his mouth as well. “I saw you out there, cheering for me.”
Hikaru sure as fuck wasn't doing that. If he was right at the front, it was because he didn't have any say in it.
“I'm always happy to please my fans,” Magnus continues, clearly enjoying himself and his successful attempts at irritating the hell out of Hikaru with little to no effort.
And really, there are many ways Hikaru could respond to this unsubtle ragebait, mainly consisting of at least five different responses that equate a similarly unsubtle “fuck off and eat a dick, Magnus” that Hikaru's mind has just conjured especially for this annoying joke of a man, but he doesn't use any of them, much to his own surprise.
Instead, he recklessly opens his mouth before thinking it through.
“Wanna play 40 blitz games?” He sips on his champagne, never once looking away from Magnus’ observant gaze. It resembles a challenge, which is exactly what Hikaru is proposing.
