Chapter 1: Common Mold

Chapter Text

Luz was incredibly excited. Although it was a very long week, and she was very tired, nothing was going to stop her from meeting up with Amity. It was finally clear to her that her friend had the same feeling that she’s been having. Ever since after the petrification ceremony, Luz had started to develop feelings for her friend and realized that she was acting very strange around her. Luz sat up from her makeshift bed that Eda had thrown together and realized she felt weird. Her head hurt a bit and she felt really warm. She got up and walked over to the mirror and looked at her reflection. Luz looked incredibly terrible as if she hadn’t slept in weeks.

Despite all of that, Luz quickly got ready, throwing on her clothes and her cape and rushing downstairs to say good morning to Eda before running out the door. She knew that if Eda had looked at her for a second, she wouldn’t let her go out. Which in all honesty was fair but Luz really had missed Amity. Since the kiss it felt like Amity was avoiding her like the plague and finally she gets an opportunity to talk to Amity about what has been going on between them.

Luz quickly ran down the stairs to the bottom floor.  “Morning Eda, morning King!” Luz exclaimed trying to hide the fact that she sounded terrible.

Eda, who was getting her morning apple blood was in the kitchen and yelled “Hey kid, come here for a second.” Luz who was right about to open the door pulled back her hand and mumbled under her breath “damn it.” She turned and headed to the kitchen where Eda stood near the table while King sat on the stool. Looking around she noticed Eda’s raised eyebrow and how awfully tired King looked. Eda walked over to her and inspected her. Luz looked at Eda nervously and asked“What are you doing?”

Eda took another sip of her apple blood, “Making sure my kid isn’t sick.” Eda took her hand and put it to the human’s forehead and quickly moved it away. “You are very hot. You think you were gonna be able to hide this from me kid?” Eda said before walking back to the table. Luz sighed “But Eda I haven’t seen Amity in a while!” Luz exclaimed in a tone that was trying to convince Eda. “Nope, you are sick. I’m gonna call someone I know and trust who can help you, which means you cannot go out.”  Luz opened her mouth to protest but Eda interrupted her. “End of discussion.” Immediately after, there were knocks on the door coming from the living room. Luz turned towards the living room but Eda quickly beat her to it.

Eda opened the door and looked down seeing the purple-haired witch that Luz had been trying to sneak out to go see. Eda took another sip from her apple blood. Amity looked at Eda and raised an eyebrow, “Is Luz home?” Eda looked back to see Luz looking at her upset before looking back at the witch in front of her. “Luz is sick, she can’t go out.” Amity’s expression changed from neutral to worried. “How sick?” Eda took the last sip of her apple blood before responding, “Oh you know, just the run of the mill common mold. She’ll be better but she needs rest.”

Amity nodded her head, “Alright can you tell her that I’ll get it by myself?” Eda smiled “Of course kiddo. I’ll let her know.” Amity nodded and began to walk away, while Eda closed the door. Eda turned around to see Luz, but before Luz could even complain she sneezed.

    “My point,” Eda said smugly.

“I didn’t even say anything.” Luz shot back before taking off her cape and heading back upstairs.”

As Luz hurried up the stairs, Eda shouted behind her “Rest!”
