Work Text:
Marinette knew a lot about the Miraculous now that she was the Guardian. But even before that, one of the most important lessons she’d learned had been that she and Chat held the most powerful Miraculouses. They were Creation and Destruction and they had to be in balance. If they weren’t, they were vulnerable.
It would be a scandal waiting to happen if they were arguing, if they were not in harmony. It was the opening that Hawk Moth needed and they couldn’t afford to give him.
No matter what little misunderstandings or big arguments happened between them, they had to make up. It was for the greater good.
Also, the world felt out of order when he was mad at her. She also couldn’t be angry at him for long no matter how much she tried. They were more than that, they were connected by something much more important.
They were a team and to work together they needed to complement each other. If one was feeling down, the other had to pick them up. If one was a little too overjoyed, the other had to ground them. It was as simple as that.
And the wonderful thing was that it worked. Apart from a few mishaps at the beginning, they had grown to be so much closer, they had gotten used to each other, they helped each other to be better.
They were in sync, they could understand each other without words, they felt when something was wrong with the other one. It was this that made them the best duo.
Marinette didn’t want to imagine a world in which for one reason or another, they couldn’t have that. For something to drive a wedge between them, to put distance between them. This would be a real disaster, not just one of her imaginary ones.
She needed Chat and he needed her. It was as simple as that. And she couldn’t have it any other way.
