Misery. Absolute misery was the best way to describe how crappy Shouto was feeling. He doesn’t know when it started, but all he knows was that his whole body ached, he couldn’t think straight, and he was going to be out of commission for at least a day or two. Or three? Hopefully no longer than a week because he had a lot of things he needed to do.
As soon as he got home, he collapsed onto the couch and passed out.
When he opened his eyes again, he noticed that he was laying on a bed in his pajamas. He then woke up to two pairs of eyes staring at him - Katsuki’s sharp crimson eyes and Izuku’s soft, round emerald eyes. It was kind of comical how much they contrasted from each other, but one thing they shared in common at that time was the look of concern on their faces.
“Shouto, sweetie, are you okay?” Izuku asked first.
Katsuki followed up with, “Yeah, princess. What happened?”
Before Shouto was able to answer, he tried his best to trace his actions before waking up to his two beautiful boyfriends. The last thing he remembered was that he passed out on the couch, so if he woke up on a bed in his pajamas, that meant one or both of them changed him out of his clothes and tucked him in.
Jeez, how in the world did I get so lucky? They didn’t have to do that...
His brain was too foggy to remember any details before he collapsed and when he tried to speak, a pang of pain hit his throat.
Ah, crap. I lost my voice too?
Because he had the most observant partners in the world, they understood the situation without any explanation from Shouto.
“Kaachan, can you go and- “
“I’m already on it, nerd.”
Izuku and Katsuki left the room to get some things. Shouto was only alone for a couple seconds, but those few moments made him slightly distressed for some odd reason. Separation anxiety perhaps? Ugh… I hope not. That makes me sound clingy and it sounds like something that would scare them away.
Izuku broke Shouto's intrusive thoughts as he quickly came back with Shouto's phone.
"If you need to use words, just type it out. Don't push yourself too hard. It looks like you need to rest your voice… and the rest of your body." Izuku gently suggested. He then placed the back of one hand on Shouto's forehead and the other on his own to compare temperatures.
"Does the princess have a fever or what, Deku?" Katsuki comes back to the room with a tray of tea supplies - a cup of hot water, tea bags, and some honey to supposedly soothe Shouto's throat.
Shouto loves Katsuki's "tough guy" act. His dad might be put off by Katsuki's aggression, but Shouto enjoys the fact that it annoys his dad. Especially because Katsuki is just a big softie and it makes him feel very special that he and Izuku get to see this caring side of Katsuki. He also found the nickname "princess" to be very endearing.
On the other hand, Shouto also loves Izuku's sweet tenderness. Izuku is so kind and soft, but he loves so fiercely and passionately. Maybe that's why Katsuku and Izuku get along so well - their ideals are the same, despite having such different approaches. You could say spending time with Izuku and Katsuki at the same time is like whiplash, but honestly, it feels like home to Shouto.
Katsuki's explosive personality balanced Shouto's ice cold side, while Izuku was able to coax his burning flame out. Everything just felt right when he was with them.
Shouto snapped back into reality and found their acts of service to be extremely kind and considerate. On his phone, he started to type while Izuku responded to Katsuki.
"He's a bit warm. Not sure if I would call it a fever yet, but he definitely might get worse if we don't take care of him."
Shouto displayed his phone screen in their direction. It read "Thanks for carrying me to bed and for what you're doing right now. It's really kind of both of you, but I'll be fine with this. So don't worry about me."
He really didn't want to be a bother to them. It's just a mild stress cold. Nothing plenty of fluids and sleep can't fix. After all, Izuku and Katsuki were busy people. Why should they waste their time on taking care of him?
"Who the fuck do you think we are, half and half?! We’re your goddamn boyfriends, not some strangers you met on the street. And you're not fine and we're not going to leave you like this when you obviously need someone to take care of you."
"Kaachan! There's no need to raise your voice! He doesn't need any more stress than whatever he's handling right now."
Shouto was about to type more on his phone, but his wrist was immediately grabbed by a really hot hand.
"Don't you dare type any damn thing other than "Okay." We are NOT taking no for an answer. Got that, princess?"
"Kaachan, why do you always have to be so aggressive with him?! Shouto, sweetie. As much as I don't agree with Katsuki's… tactics, I really don't think we could just leave you while you're in this condition. Let us take care of you, okay?"
Shouto secretly wanted to tell Izuku that he actually enjoyed how aggressive Katsuki was, but decided he didn't have enough energy for that conversation at that moment. He did, however, not know how to get used to receiving their affection. He knew they loved him and they wanted to take care of him, but being taken care of meant that he was allowing himself to show his weaknesses and vulnerabilities - something completely foreign to him.
Shouto wanted to argue, but he took one look at their expressions, heard the tone of their voices and decided to allow them to take care of him. He simply nodded okay, but looked down at his hands to avoid eye contact. He was nervous for some reason.
Before he could protest, Katsuki aggressively pushed Shouto’s shoulders to force him into lying down and followed that up by tugging the blanket over Shouto’s body. Katsuki started to tuck the blanket snugly around Shouto’s body while muttering under his breath, “You’re going to let us take care of you whether you like it or not, damn it.”
Before Shouto could try to protest, Izuku gently caressed Shouto’s face and brushed some hair out of his eyes. Katsuki and Izuku both planted some kisses on Shouto’s warm forehead and they both whispered their affections into his ear.
“We love you, sweetie. Please rest up.”
“We love you, princess. You better get well soon, or I’ll kill you before your sickness does, damn it.”
Shouto could actually cry right now. He has the sweetest, most thoughtful lovers in the world. And he didn’t know what he did to deserve them, but he felt safe enough to rest because his boyfriends were there for him.
