Work Text:

Satoru loves Sundays. They're his only free day in the entire week and he gets to spend them snuggled up in bed next to his very beautiful and adored wife.

If only Utahime wanted to do the same.

"Come on, Satoru," she hisses. "Let me go, we have to get up."

"No," he whines, tightening his grasp on her waist and burying his nose further in the crook of her neck. "I wanna stay."

"Stay to do what, exactly?" She tries to wriggle out of his loving embrace, which is just mean. "Once you wake up, you can't fall asleep again, and don't try denying it, I know you. Let's get up."

"No."

She sighs and stops fighting back. He thinks about how nice it is to finally be able to hold his wife (his wife! It's been four months and he still can't believe it), without feeling like he's restraining a furious, highly caffeinated monkey. But in his short-sightedness, he fails to realize that this is not her giving up. Oh no, it's just the calm before the storm.

"Satoru?" She croons sweetly.

"Yeah?"

"If you don't get your ass out of bed right now, I'm gonna make you and it will hurt."

"Hot," he murmurs ignorantly.

And boy oh boy, how utterly ignorant had he been. Utahime digs an elbow so deep into his stomach it almost gets stuck between his ribs. He wheezes and she takes his momentary distraction to break free and flip him on his back. Forcefully shoving his shoulders into the bed, she sits on top of him, one leg at each side of his hips. The mattress sinks around him under the weight of her knees.

He stares up at her in all her drowsy, bed-headed glory as he straddles him to assert dominance. God, he loves this woman so much.

"Gojo Satoru, we have to get up," she declares.

"Or," he suggests, his hands already making their way over her thighs, "now that you're there, we could start the morning with a bang—"

She slaps his hands away. "No. Is that all you ever think about, you horny ox?"

"With a wife like mine, it's hard to think about anything else," he winks.

"You're insufferable."

"Should have taken that in consideration before you said yes."

She grabs a pillow and smashes it into his face. "Come on, let's get up."

"No."

"I will smother you if you don't get up."

"You can try," he activates his Infinity. He doesn't like having it up around her, it keeps him from feeling her, but desperate times call for desperate measures, "but all you're gonna accomplish is turning me on and you know it."

She groans in frustration when the pillow no longer makes direct contact with him and throws it away. "Fine. Do whatever you want, I'm getting up."

Wait, no. That's not part of the plan. He can't cuddle his wife if said wife is not in bed as well. Just as she hoists her legs up to the side to get off him, he takes hold of her forearms and rolls her over. His Infinity turns off again so he can feel her pulse under her skin as he holds her wrists above her head.

"Let's stay in bed, Hime~" He pouts. Maybe that'll convince her. It's never convinced her before, but there's always a first time for everything. "Come on, I'll be lonely and cold if you leave~"

"I don't care," she squirms, but he keeps her firmly in place.

"You should care, I'm your husband."

"Why are you so hellbent on reminding me that we're married today?"

"I just like thinking about it," he shrugs. "It feels great to remember that I got the girl in the end, you know?"

She huffs and avoids his gaze. "You're a dork."

He slides his hand from her wrist to her palm and intertwines his fingers with hers. The simple golden band she wears feels deliciously warm against his skin. He leans down and places a kiss on their joined hands, right on top of the ring. "A dork you married."

"Biggest mistake of my life," she says, but she smiles. "I should have married Nanami, he would have gotten up when I asked him to."

Her teasing is kind of rendered moot when she slyly drags her leg up around his hip and stops fidgeting so much, so he moves his kisses from her hand to her neck. She giggles when he finds the sensitive spot beneath her ear and lightly sinks his teeth into it.

"Stop," she mumbles, still half-laughing. "Come on, I'm serious."

"Sorry, can't hear you," he peppers the now red skin with kisses. "Too lost in you."

"Flirt."

"Only with you, love."

She frees one of her hands and reaches out to cup his face to stop him from leaving more marks. Too bad. They always make her look absolutely smashing.

"Hey," she insists. "We have to get up. For real."

"Do we have plans with anyone?"

"No?"

"Is there somewhere we need to be?"

"Not that I know of."

"Then we don't have to get up," he flops down on top of her.

She gasps for air when his entire body mass locks her to the bed. He nuzzles under her jaw, content with feeling her heartbeats against his own chest. After she furiously pats his back to signal him she needs to breathe, he sighs and moves slightly to the side, no longer fully crushing her under him, but tangling their limbs so she can't leave him.

"Satoru."

"We're not getting up."

"Please, I want to take a shower."

He immediately perks up. "I'll join you."

"That got your attention, didn't it?" She sighs and finally cradles his head closer to her. He almost screams in glee. Victory. "Why do you want to stay in bed so much? You don't like to laze around."

"I don't know," he admits. He slips a hand under her shirt and draws circles on her bare stomach. "I want to be with you."

"We can be together and get up," she runs her fingers through his hair, softly tugging at the knots at the ends. "They're not mutually exclusive."

"I know, I know," he closes his eyes and leans into Utahime's touch. "I just want to stay here, with you, for eternity. So we never have to suffer, so we can have peace."

"Eternity doesn't work like that," she replies, "and as sorcerers, peace isn't really an option."

"I know," he repeats. "But if we can't have eternity, can we at least stay in bed a little longer?"

"This was your plan all along, wasn't it?" He feels the quiet hum of her chest when she chuckles. "Get me all misty and convince me to not get up?"

"I didn't have a plan, but you make me sound way smarter, so let's say that yes, that was my plan."

She laughs again and pulls him up until they're at eye level. He props himself up on his elbow to look at her properly. And good grace, she is so painfully beautiful, it's almost unreal. How can he love someone this much? He used to think love manifested the most distorted of Curses, and now he's here, loving until his heart bleeds. And there are no Curses, no monsters to haunt him and harm others. All there is is her soft gaze as she draws the covers over them and caresses his cheek.

"I love you," he breathes out.

It doesn't need to be said, she knows he loves her, but just like calling her his wife or staring at the ring, it's a precious reminder that he is not condemned to die alone.

She smiles. "I love you, too."

He kisses her once, and twice, and thrice. Again, again, then one more time, until he can't breathe, and until he makes sure she can't either. She wraps her arms around his neck and switches places with him, resting on his chest and toying with the hem of his shirt. He lets her hitch it up as long as she lets him slide the strap of her night shirt off her shoulder. He doesn't pull away for a second. His lungs have to fuse with hers and he won't stop before they do.

They don't have to get up after all.

Notes:

And last day of the week, done! I can't believe I actually finished them all. It still feels a little surreal.

Participating in Gouta Week was such an amazing experience. It is the first ship week I ever did, and I wrote for all seven days, which is absolute bonkers.

Thanks to my everpresent beta, @considermadness, who I just kept bombarding with fics and more fics. You're a real hero. Thanks to Mia, for making me write and always knowing the right synonyms whenever I asked her.

And thank you all for reading.
