Summary
In a small corner of Vermont, not too far from the prettier lakes, lies a B&B, like many others. It’s a good size and cozy inside with play areas for kids and reading nooks and a well stocked kitchen. There’s always someone to talk to. Someone to befriend.
But underneath this little paradise lies a dark secret. In the basement, stained red with more than just paint, lies a whole chamber of misery. Here is where the bodies are taken, where investigations are held. But why? Why would such a group do this?
REPENT, an organization, asks them to.
None of the bookrats quite remember how they wound up here. They only know that REPENT helps to keep them alive, helps them to do good…even if they’re doing bad.
They’re given names randomly, of people to find and kill. While the names can be researched and refused, often they aren’t. Most of them are people using their power to take advantage, people stealing from those less fortunate, or the lowest scum on earth. Why say no?
Repent has never been anything but good to the bookrats. And they live a nice life here in this quaint little down. That should never change. Should it?
