Chapter Text

Josh Wang

Full name: Joshua Xingyun Wang Born: 13th June 1996
Zodiac: Gemini
Nationality: Chinese-American Sexuality: Gay

Height: 177cm

Xingyun means ‘fortunate’, his father Tiankong Wang chose this name as he felt fortunate to meet Josh’s mother Allison when she visited China for an exchange program in college. Tiankong’s family didn’t approve of him being in a relationship with a white woman and leaving with her to live in America, but they came around when Tiankong announced the birth of his son, Josh.

Tiankong’s family still isn’t fully fond of Allison but they adore Joshua and his younger sister Emily(her Chinese name Mei Li means beauty). Emily is currently 16, she was born mid September 2005 and takes after her mother while Josh resembles his father more.

Josh’s father Tiankong is a language professor in a private school while his mother Allison manages a beauty salon where Josh worked after his high school graduation at age 18, taking a four

year break. He resumed his education at age 22 when he enrolled to University of Southern California in Los Angeles, Department Of Film Production where he’s currently a second year. His parents don’t really enjoy Josh being away from home as they live in Anaheim, around half an hour by car from LA, but Josh tries to visit every other weekend. He usually gets tortured by his sister into making tiktok videos with her.

Josh is gay, and had his coming out at age 15. His parents and sister are very supportive and happy for him. His favourite colour is orange and gold and he really dislikes anything with bell peppers in it. Josh likes going to the gym and drink alcohol, but with tolerance, his favourite is rum and coke combination with a dash of lime juice. He has a little playboy bunny tattoo on his hip that he got as a dare, but when it comes to animals he prefers cats and dogs. Josh’s family has a doberman named Aisy and a tabby cat Tipsy.

For the face pic I merged 6 different BL actors together, sadly he came out a little cross eyed hence the butterfly covering one eye.

End of October 2022

“Hey; is this seat taken?” Singto’s head shot up when a boy approached his table and patted the chair across from him. Sure the chair by his two person table was empty, but so were the other twenty other chairs and tables that had no one occupying them. “Ehm…” “Great!” The boy sat down, confusing Singto. “I’ll just go, I didn’t know this desk is taken.” He stood up, but the boy grabbed his arm. “Wait! Actually… I wanted to talk to you. I’m Josh, second year.” His smile was pleasant and his mixed complexion made him look kinda cute. Singto hesitantly sat back down. “Are you my fan?” He asked. Josh chuckled. “Are you tiktok famous or something? A YouTuber?” Singto was taken back. In the two months of his university time he’s  already been approached by a few fan girls who recognised him, but this guy didn’t look like he knew who he was.

“Uh, no, nothing. I’m Singto, I’m a first year.” Singto shrugged. He watched as Josh put on the desk a can of Pepsi with a bunny shaped post-it note stuck to the top. “For you.” “Huh?” “I saw you drinking one yesterday, so I figured you might like it… I was just wondering if you’d like to go on a date with me sometime?” Josh smiled, shuffling the soda across the little desk towards Singto. When Singto gave him a questionable look, Josh quickly cleared his throat. “Or hang out, as friends. That’s fine too. Or just enjoy the Pepsi; bye!” And with that, he dashed. Josh was out of sight before Singto even noticed the number scribbled on that paper bunny.

->Side Story 1<-

JW 00:33
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not that picky of an eater but the casserole was just dreadful.

Simba 00:34
Still it must have been nice spending Thanksgiving with your family, even if your auntie made a dreadful casserole.

JW 0:35
Well auntie and uncle  and the kids aren’t related to us, they’re just family friends for many years. We don’t have relatives here; mom is alone and dad’s side of family is in China.

Simba 00:36
You’re mixed? That’s kinda cool

JW 00:37
Not really; to my Chinese half of the family I’m just a dumb banana, and from my mom’s American side I only have an aunt.

Simba 00:38
Banana? What does that mean?

JW 00:39
I grew up here and I can’t speak Chinese more than a few words. I’m yellow on the outside but white on the inside.

Simba 00:40
Wow never heard of that expression. In Thailand we call foreigners or mixed people ฝรั่ง. You’d probably be called that too.

JW 00:41
I learn something new every day; cool. Why aren’t you sleeping yet? Games again?

Simba 00:42
Just one more round and then I go to sleep.

JW 00:43
You’ll have dark circles again. I got no class tomorrow, I can’t bring you your morning coffee as usual, remember?

Simba 00:44
Alright alright, I’ll go to sleep now. Hang on a second; why aren’t YOU sleeping?

JW 00:45
Writing a song. Besides, no class tomorrow means I can sleep as long as I want. ฝันดีนะครับ

Simba 00:46
Impressive! GN.

Josh put down his phone and returned his attention to the paper infront of him, crossing the last couple of words before rewriting them. How long has Singto been his inspiration? A month, barely. They met nearly daily, in the library, in the cafeteria, in the little grassy area between building A and building B. Texting daily, even sending pictures. Granted, Singto never sent a picture of himself, but he took random snippets of his day and shared them with Josh who saved every single one of them. Not that he didn’t sneakily take a picture or two of Singto sneakily, he was crushing on the guy hard after all. But was hanging around campus all they could do? Their friendship was growing steadily but Josh was hesitant to make a move so early.

November 2022

“No Pepsi today?” Singto grinned when his new, and frankly quite close, friend sat by his desk and shuffled across the surface a bottle of green tea. “Sorry, the machine was out. Apparently it’s popular in Thailand so I went to Chinatown to get some. It’s got some weird bits in it.” Josh shrugged when he examined the purple bottle again, tapping on the โออีชิ. “How do you read this?” He asked. Singto’s eyes widened and he silently thanked god this wasn’t one of the batches with his face on it. He managed to keep his fame secret from Josh since the day 1, and he hoped it would stay that way. “Oishi. I Like this grape flavour, but the lemon one is my most favourite. The pieces are coconut jelly.” Singto explained as he chewed on the first gulp.

“Oh, neat. Uhm Singto…do you have plans tonight?” Josh asked. “Not really.” Singto shook his head. “Two more classes after lunch, and then back to my dorm, probably play some games. Why?” The Thai man flipped a page in his notebook without looking up. Not that his schedule changed often; it was either campus, the dorms, the occasional grocery shopping and videocalling his dad or friends back home. “I was planning on taking my sister to the arcade and buy some Christmas presents since I only got a week to do so, but she made plans with her boyfriend, so I thought maybe we could hang out? You know, since we’re like friends now, maybe we can have fun outside of university.” Josh leaned back in his chair, his head accidentally bumping into a person passing by.

“Ow, sorry I-oh.” His eyes widened as he registered the person behind him and he quickly straightened himself in the chair. The stranger chuckled. “Hey Josh, how you doing? New boyfriend?” He looked at Singto who finally registered the stranger and looked him up and down. Josh shook his head. “Don’t be silly Nick; what are you doing here? You barely come to the library.” Nick tapped the book in his hand. “Gotta return my baby’s book. Hey, reply to my text sometime, we have to catch up.” Josh awkwardly nodded. “Yeah sure…see ya.” He watched as Nick walked away before sighing and staring at the floor. Singto noticed the change of atmosphere but wasn’t sure if he should ask. Instead he just bumped the table to get his friends attention, resuming their previous conversation. “The arcade sounds great. What time do we meet?”

“Take that, take that, take that!” Singto laughed, pointing the toy gun on a screen where he destroyed Josh’s castle with a few shots, his building still standing. “Hey, don’t sulk, I’ll let you win the next one.” He nudged Josh in the side, causing him to giggle. “Oi, ticklish! Damn, I regret inviting a gamer to the arcade, I should have known you’re going to crush me.” Josh pouted. “Okay okay, sorry. I’ll let you win the next round, I promise.” Singto pinches his cheek and pulled. It was soft, softer than Krist’s cheek that he loved to tug on before. As soon as the thought hit him, Singto pulled his hand away, pretending he didn’t notice Josh’s questioning look.

Josh didn’t get to think about what it meant as a sound of text interrupted his thoughts and he frowned at the screen, swiping the notification away without answering it before grabbing the gun controller again and loading up another game on the arcade machine. He completely obliterated Singto’s castle within seconds but it didn’t feel like a triumph at all. He felt bitter and the Thai man noticed it pretty quickly as Josh didn’t have a smile on his face from the victory. “Are you alright?” Singto asked as they sat down on a bench with slushies in hand. “Yeah I’m just…” “Was that the guy from earlier?” Josh slowly nodded. “Do you want to talk about it?” Singto hesitantly shuffled closer so their shoulders touched a little.

“He’s my ex boyfriend. Well…sort of. I didn’t know at the time but I was just his side thing. For him I was just friends with benefits. When his girlfriend caught a wind of that, he dumped me and only contacted me whenever he and his baby had troubles. And now he texted me if I want to hook up. Ugh…” Josh kicked a little pebble infront of him before taking angry sip of his slushie. The brain freeze following helped to soothe his frustration but not as much as Singto’s gentle hug around his shoulders. “But you don’t love him anymore, right?” Josh shook his head. “No it’s been almost a year. It’s just kind of humiliating when someone thinks of you this little. Love can be disappointing.” Singto’s arm fell down and he nodded in agreement. Not that he wanted to reveal much but there was no denying that love was disappointing for him too. “There’s a guy back home…we’ve been friends for years and we even kissed as a joke because our friends ship us since we have like a bromance between us, but…”

“He’s straight, isn’t he?” Josh knowingly asked. “Yeah. I never confessed because I know it wouldn’t lead to anything. People say you never know until you try, but I’ve known him long enough to know. I’m really happy for the friendship we have and I don’t want to lose it, ever. Thankfully moving here helped to move on, I feel free.” Singto smiled. Smile that caused Josh’s heart to skip a beat on more than one occasion before, but nothing could prepare him for what Singto said next in the softest voice. “I feel the most free when I’m with you…”

December 2022

“Is everything alright? You’ve been sighing for a while P’Sing.”

“I’m just tired, that’s all. I stayed up all night and only slept like an hour.”

“Playing games again?”

“Kit! I don’t have much time for games. I was studying English.”

“If you have troubles understanding you could hire a tutor? If you’re struggling perhaps a help would be necessary. I don’t like seeing you struggle P’Sing.”

“I’ll be fine Krist. What are you doing recently?”

“P’Siiing, I want to talk about you, not me. What are you doing besides studying?”

Singto yawned. After a videocall with his father and wishing him Happy New Year, he wanted to talk to Krist too, hoping some of his homesickness got erased by seeing him, but what truly made him perk up when Krist’s face got obscured by a notification.

“Ohoo, what a big smile. Who’s texting you?”

“A friend. Senior from year up but he’s actually four years younger than me.”

“Don’t let people take advantage of you, yeah? Be careful.”

“He doesn’t know I’m an actor. There were some fan girls approaching me before for a picture but he wasn’t around. We’ve been talking for a few months now. He’s the same major so-“

“He can help you with English!”

“I don’t want to use him like that, he already does way too much for me. He brings me coffee in the morning because his class starts later, and we often eat lunch together. Josh is a really good friend.”

“So his name is Josh? Tell me more about him!”

->Side Story 2<-

“See, you got it. You’re doing great.” Josh patted Singto’s shoulder after another successful tutoring session. Not that Singto’s English was bad, but certain grammar gave him stress and he needed help, even though he didn’t want to initially admit it. After a week of noise disturbed sessions in library they changed the location to Josh’s dorm room that in less than few days became Singto’s favourite place. “Game or food?” Josh pointed at the controller of his xbox which was their usual treat after studying; something that Singto very much appreciated. “I’m hungry, how about food first?” “Sure.” Josh nodded, picking up his phone to order some pizza. Knowing Singto liked spicy and cheesy flavours, he loaded the dish, stomping downstairs to pick it up. When he returned with the large box, he found Singto wandering around the room.

“Snooping?” Josh chuckled, causing Singto to flinch. “Just bored; you left me alone. Oh it smells good.” He put down the action figurine and quickly sat on the floor with hungry eyes and grabby hands that quickly got hold of a slice which he devoured within seconds before snatching another two and sandwiching them together. “Hey hey slow down Singto! What’s the rush?” Josh laughed through his mouthful of first slice. Singto painfully swallowed a big bite. “It’s half past nine and my dorm closes at 10. I don’t wanna get locked out.” “Don’t worry about it, just sleep here tonight.” Josh picked up a dropped slice of pepperoni from Singto’s lap and quickly stuffed it into his mouth. “I’ll take the floor and lend you some clothes, I think I might have a spare toothbrush too. Just stay.”

“Thanks. God, I have to pack tomorrow, I promised my dad I’ll come home for Christmas.” Singto yawned as he climbed onto Josh’s bed wearing his oversized T-shirt and his own boxers. “Yeah I’m going too, my mom’s been laying on the guilt pretty thick recently. I’m not coming home often enough, I make my dog and cat miss me, stuff like that.” Josh said as he slapped the light switch and flipped onto the inflatable mattress on his floor. “You got a cat AND a dog? Aren’t they fighting all the time?” Singto laughed. Josh quickly pulled out his phone and turned the screen towards Singto to show him his pets, snuggled together on a sofa. “We got them from the same shelter, and they were both really young so they got used to each other pretty quickly. Oh, I almost forgot!” Josh crawled out of his blanket and opened the bottom drawer of his desk, tossing a tiny pouch to the man on his bed. “For you, a Christmas present. I know it’s a week early but since you’re leaving I wouldn’t have a chance to give it to you.” Singto eagerly opened the pouch and found a simple keychain with a plastic clapperboard that had his name messily carved into it. “You know, because of our major…it’s cheap but-“ “Thank you.”

January 2023

Josh sniffed the paper bag; the sweet smell of freshly baked pastry made his stomach grumble but he powered through by devouring a protein bar. Ever since Singto came back to LA, Josh was spoiling him even more. Maybe it was the nearly here weeks apart that made him so needy for him. When Singto finally came back on the second week of January, Josh took him to a newly opened bakery near the university, and the man instantly fell inlove with their pastries, and thus begun their new tradition. In addition to his usual Pepsi or coffee, Josh also brought Singto a sweet pastry each morning. They always met at 8, but sometimes the sleepy Lion crawled out of the bed late, making Josh Wait at their usual spot, just like today.

JW 08:25
Where are you?

JW 08:30
I got you a croissant (:

JW 08:32
Did you go to lecture already?

JW 08:40
Your coffee is getting cold.

JW 08:42
Are you okay?

JW 08:57
I’m coming to your dorm.

Singto lazily stared at the message he received ten minutes ago. His eyes hurt from looking at the bright phone screen and he didn’t reply. It took Josh only ten more minutes to knock on his door and groggy Singto dragged his butt to the door. Josh gasped at the sight; Singto was unusually pale. “Damn, what the hell happened?” Josh entered Singto’s room. It was a little messy and the air was stuffy so he cracked open the window just for a little while to cool the place down while Singto laid back on his bed and sighed. “I got caught in the rain yesterday, I think the cold has caught up to me. I just want to sleep it off.” Josh put down the bag with croissant and gently touched Singto’s forehead. “You’re burning up. Where’s your keycard? I’ll go get you some medicine.” “Huh?” “I’m not a doctor but I know how to treat you.”

Singto hesitated only for a second. It didn’t take long for him to snuggle closer to Josh and hug his waist. He had a fever but felt like he was freezing, so Josh’s warm hug gave him the much needed warmth and comfort. “Hey Singto…?” “Hm…?” “What are you doing?” “Hugging you. Is it uncomfortable?” Josh shook his head and finally let his arm rest around Singto, stroking his back. “No it’s fine. Just rest. I’ll wake you up for medicine.” Unintentionally Josh gave Singto a kiss on the head but the Thai man didn’t even flinch, just cuddled up closer to Josh’s chest. It was barely noon and Josh definitely wasn’t sleepy, but the warm rest was welcome as he laid there with phone in his hand and a beautiful man snuggled close to him. He just wished his heart wasn’t beating as hard when Singto draped his leg around him. Josh couldn’t help himself as he took a picture of them, and even though all he could see from Singto was his messy hair, he loved it.

13th February 2023

Singto nearly spat his tea when he opened the attached image and read the text that followed it.

JW 23:20
[attached photo]
Wanna come over? ;)

JW 23:22
OMG WRONG PERSON!!!

JW 23:23
Please ignore it, omg. How do I delete a message here?!

JW 23:24
Can you please forget it?

JW 23:25
Omg don’t reply, I’m so embarrassed, I’m going to sleep.

JW 23:26
*crying rabbit sticker*

Singto was speechless. Across his screen was plastered selfie of Josh with towel loosely hanging down his hips and nothing else. His hair was wet and dripping droplets of water onto his toned chest that he hid beneath very loose fitting shirts; who thought skinny guy like him was sporting such firm pecs and six pack? Singto’s eyes followed the thin trail of hair coming from the bellybutton and disappearing beneath the towel that exposed his hipbones and revealed a little playboy bunny tattoo that reminded Singto of the post-it note Josh gave him upon their first meeting. The photo was…hot. This was definitely invitation for sex, but who the hell did he want to send it to? A day before Valentine’s Day?

Simba 23:30
Wow. At least it wasn’t a dick pic.

JW 23:31
Omg! I’m sorry ;-; This is so awkward.

Simba 23:32
So is he coming over? The guy you wanted to send this to?

JW 23:35
Uh I’m not gonna send this to anyone now. Not in the mood anymore. >.< Time to snooze.

Simba 23:36
Wait!

Simba 23:37
Do you want to go for drinks?

JW 23:38
You just saw my tits, idk if I can ever look you in the eye again!

Simba 23:40
Should I wear a revealing shirt so you can look at my chest too?

Simba 23:41
Just kidding!

Simba 23:42
So drinks?

JW 23:45
Ok, I’ll meet you by my dorm.

“Come on, just talk to me…” Nick grabbed Josh by the arm, pulling him aside from the crowd of people waiting to use the restroom. He was already a little drunk from a few drinks which sent him to the restroom pretty quickly, but what was supposed to be a minute trip turned into an annoying conversation with his ex. From eight pubs and bars on the campus, why did he have to be here? “I said I don’t want to, let me go, I have someone waiting for me.” Josh tried to wiggle his arm free. “You have your girlfriend, and what was between us is now over.” Nick clicked his tongue. “Do you think it’s easy for me to see you with somebody else? I hate it!” He pushed Josh against the wall, trapping him with two strong arms that held the boy close. “I ended it with Lucy already! I want another chance!” Nick pressured him. When he leaned even closer, Josh turned his head to avoid Nick’s lips, but the man relentlessly kissed his cheek and jaw anyway.

“You were the one who ended it by diving into pussy!” Josh groaned. “Don’t act so innocent Josh! You came running whenever I called you, so don’t pretend you don’t feel anything for me!” “I came because I still loved you, but not anymore. I have…” Josh felt his stomach turn from being pressed against the wall. “What, you have someone new? That dark Asian dude? I thought you preferred white meat diet baby.” Nick pressed his body against Josh, his breath tickling the mixed race boy on his neck. Josh finally gave in, wrapping his arms around Nick’s shoulders, but it was just an act. As soon as the man took a tiny step back, Josh kicked up and his knee collided with Nick’s junk, causing him to topple over and release Josh from his grasp. “We’re done, asshole!” Josh pushed past him, his face smacking into someone’s chest as he run. “Ow what the f-oh. Singto.”
