Chapter Text

“jesus christ, you just won’t leave me alone, will you?” tsukishima huffed, crossing his arms. if only yamaguchi had came today, that way the greenette could distract the bothersome girl, but alas, he did not.

“you love me, don’t deny it,” a grin made its way onto her face. he scoffed, rolling his brown eyes at her expression. “i’ll annoy you till the day i die!” he shook his head absently, disbelieving of her words.

“i don’t think i want to deal with you for that long,” he sighed. this was always how it has been, y/n constantly teasing and joking around with him, and he would roll his eyes in irritation at her antics. it was a routine by that point, he’d wake up in the morning (unfortunately) and let the sun peek through his curtains, only to hurry downstairs to see a waiting y/n in her school uniform.

but it was now afternoon, practice had been over for around ten minutes and they’d been walking home. occasionally, she’d make a silly joke and kick a pebble from the ground as it launched into the air, but other than that, it was rather quiet. “hey tsuki, can we go to the seven eleven?” she questioned out of the blue. looking at her, he gave in. after all, there was not much he could say unless he wanted her to pester him more than she already did.

taking a sharp turn, they reach the convenience store. “remember? i’d beg you to buy me a popsicle and you never did,” she said, peering through the window at the freezers below. then, she glanced at him with expectant eyes.

“i’m not buying you a popsicle, y/n,” he stated and she visibly slumped over, disappointed. but she still pushed open the glass door and skipped through the aisles, aiming directly for the refrigerators at the back wall.

grazing her fingertips over each beverage, she landed on a bottle of green tea. “you seem to drink those a lot recently,” he noticed, of course he did. she was never one to pick the most healthiest option of everything, she loved flavourful food and drinks, so it was a little strange. perhaps she finally grew a maturer taste than eating jelly cups whenever she could.

“yeah!” she said, matter-of-factly. “surprised you noticed,”

“you’re like a fly i can’t swat, of course i’d notice if the fly started to buzz louder,” tsukishima mused aloud, watching as she placed the bottle onto the register’s counter. she turned to look at him with offence written all over her face.

“are you comparing me to a fly?” she gaped, fishing for money in her pocket. “i never thought you’d stoop so low,” handing the money to the cashier, who seemed too engrossed in a mobile game to care, they left the convenience store and back into the sunset-stained streets of miyagi. struggling to twist off the bottle cap with weirdly curved fingers, she gestured for him to take it. “help me, dear tsuki, for i am unable to open this bottle of green tea,”

reluctantly, he used the least amount of strength he had to open the bottle, tempted to throw it in her face, but he opted not to. the satisfied grin that settled on her face was enough to tell him that she was going to stay somewhat quiet for the walk back.

as she drank down the green tea, a feeling of content washed over him.
