Feline Interference

Summary:

When Ojiro didn't get the bathroom door shut all the way, Shinso's mischievous cat gets in to steal a very important piece of clothing. But that's ok, Shinso wont be home for a couple hours, he can get them back...

Right?

Random fluff I wrote while trying to help my friend get some writing stuff done. Done just for fun. Enjoy.

Work Text:

“Oh no...” Ojiro sighed, stepping out of the shower to find the door open and his clothes flung on the floor. He must not have gotten the door closed completely when he came in, and now, his roommate’s cat had gotten in and, even without looking, he knew that not all of his clothes were there now. He could just go grab another pair of underwear… but he already had to special order all of his clothes thanks to his quirk and he didn’t especially want to lose any of it. Especially not because of a cat. He grabbed his towel with a huff, wrapping it around his waist to at least partially cover himself with the tail in the way, and setting off to find the thief. Besides, he was home alone for at least two more hours… It was fine.

Finding the cat was easy enough, as she was just sitting on the arm of the couch, grooming herself atop her prize… but the moment she saw Ojiro, she grabbed the underwear and took off. Ojiro tried to dive for her, hoping he could catch her before she got too far, but his fingers barely grazed the fabric and she got away. “Salem!”

Mew!

Ojiro made a face. Now not only was he chasing a cat that had stolen his underwear, now said cat was taunting him. He moved quickly to try and catch her again, but she slipped through his grasp yet again. And again… and again... A frustrated growl escaped his throat and he lunged for her again, only to yelp when his still slightly wet feet lost traction on the vinyl floor and he slipped, falling flat on his chest. He stayed like that for a time, a soft groan passing his lips before finally dragging himself to his hand and knees.

Prrrt!

Lifting his head, he found Salem sitting in front of him, underwear still hanging from her jaws, tails swishing playfully. This was all just a game to her it seemed… and while Ojiro typically had no issue playing with her, this was getting a bit ridiculous. But fine… if that’s what it took. He pulled himself to his feet, smiled at the cat, then lunged again. This time he wasn’t trying to grab Salem or his clothes, he was just trying to get her to run. Which she did. And he chased her. Waiting and biding his time for the right moment to strike. After all this was just like training. Eventually she would slip up and-

“Hah!” He shouted, lunging once more for her when she got herself in a place she couldn’t easily get by him, grabbing her and pulling her to his chest. Salem made a small noise of protest, but started purring when Ojiro nuzzled against the top of her head and laughed. “A worthy opponent vanquished this day! Yes… Now, please… give me this.” he lifted his head and carefully took the clothing from her, which she let go this time with no fight, still purring and gently batting gently at his face. He laughed more, trying to kiss her paws… but then a sound caught both of their attentions. A familiar and suddenly very terrifying sound…

The front door.

“Mashirao, I’m back…”

Ojiro froze, staring at the door in horror and embarrassment, heat rising to his cheeks when the other man turned to face him. He wasn’t supposed to be home yet! He still had another hour before he was supposed to get off work. “U-uh… Hitoshi! You… Y-you’re back early…” He stammered, cheeks starting to burn with embarrassment as he reached down to secure the towel around his waist… only… where was it…? He glanced down, squeaking and blushing more when he realized the towel was in fact not around his waist.

Shinso hummed as he put his keys back on the hook. “Yeah. Finished work early and decided to come home. You still want to watch… that… uhm…”

Ojiro whimpered and tried to cover himself with the underwhere in his hand, so flustered that he didn’t think about the fact that he could just put Salem down and slip them on. “I… I didn’t get the bathroom door shut all the way… and dropped my towel chasing Salem...”

“I see that…” Shinso stated, trying his best not to stare, but damn if Ojiro wasn’t a lovely sight. He knew the guy was ripped, he did martial arts after all… but seeing… Well, everything. It admittedly had him a bit rattled. “You… want me to take her…?”

“Take wh-? Oh! Salem, uh… y-yes please…” Ojiro’s hand clung tighter to the only bit of fabric that covered him and the hair at the end of his tail fluffed up as Shinso came closer, the blush on his face crawling further down his neck. “Here…”

Shinso’s eyes never left Ojiro, appreciating every little detail for as long as he could, even going so far as to take his mischievous cat as slow as possible because he knew the moment he took her, Ojiro was going to flee. Sure enough, the moment Salem was in his arms, Ojiro apologized softly and hurried away, giving Shinso just enough time to get a quick glance over his back and butt before disappearing completely. He hummed softly when he heard the bathroom door click shut, glancing down at the cat in his arms who just looked up at him innocently. “You did this on purpose didn’t you…?”

Mrrr!

“Uh huh…” This time, it was Shinso’s turn to sigh, looking back in the direction that his roommate had vanished in.

Meeew!!

“Tch… Bossy cat… I can manage without your help.” He huffed and sat Salem down, watching as she trotted off. Only once she was out of sight did he finally move over to take a seat on the couch with a groan, rubbing his face, unable to shake the sight he had just seen… and when a blush came to his face, he huffed. Maybe it was time to say something… but was this really the best time?

“Hitoshi?”

Shinso looked over and couldn’t help but snort softly at the fact that Ojiro, now fully dressed, was still red in the face and holding onto the end of his tail nervously. “Yeah?”

“I’m… sorry. That was...”

“It’s fine. You didn’t know I’d be home over an hour early.”

Ojiro glanced away for a moment and took a breath. “W-well. Yes…”

“Besides. I wasn’t complaining.”

“Er…”

Shinso leaned back against the couch, smirking at this very very shy man that looked like he had just slapped him with a wet fish. “What?”

“I… Mm…”

“Mashi…”

Ojiro blushed more at the nickname. For some reason it seemed almost like it had more weight all of a sudden, though he wasn’t sure if that’s just because Shinso was teasing him or if there was another reason but wow did it hit differently. “I just… It’s nothing, Hito. I think I’m just… a bit flustered still. Perhaps I will go read for a while before we watch our movie.”

“Hmm… Kay, but before you go…” Shinso slowly rose to his feet and walked over, stopping just in front of Ojiro and waiting until the other man lifted his head a bit to actually look at him. When he did, Shinso leaned in and placed a soft, slightly timid kiss at the corner of Ojiro’s mouth, one that lingered for a brief moment before he pulled away. Now Shinso had a blush on his face too, causing him to glance away and shove his hands in his pockets. “I gotta talk to you later… when you have a minute to destress. Enjoy your book.”

And before Ojiro could say a word, Shinso walked away.

Ojiro stood there, frozen in shock, fingers coming up to gingerly touch the spot Shinso had kissed. His head suddenly swarmed with thoughts, his heart started to race, and the nearly faded blush grew stronger once more. Shinso kissed him. His roommate, the man who for the last two years had been there for him through every smile and tear, every celebration and every struggle… the man he had fallen so maddeningly in love with that it haunted his every dream and thought… That man had just kissed him. And Ojiro wasn’t sure what to do now.

Mrrt.

Snapped from his thoughts, he glanced down to find Salem at his feet, looking up at him curiously. “I…” Ojiro started, only to laugh and shake his head. “Perhaps your games are not as bad as I first thought… Though if this was your goal I wish you had chosen a less embarrassing way…”

Mrrrow!

“Is that so? Well… I can’t argue with that.” He bent down and picked her up, kissing her between her ears. “Come on. You can lay with me for a while. Just… please. No more thievery… promise?” He received no real answer, just a soft purr as she nestled against him. He chuckled softly and turned to head to his room. “Close enough.Thank you, Salem.”

Notes:

Poor Ojiro... at least he got a kiss out of it.
