Chapter Text
Tae Kyung doesn’t know how or what to feel after being introduced to Soo Hee. He’s not surprise to know that someone has been crushing on Da On. Honestly, it’ll be surprising if it’s someone that doesn’t like Da On. So Hee’s eyes flickered up and down, studying Tae Kyung closely. He has seen those looks before. It’s to decide if he was a threat or not. It’s a new kind of weird that he is feeling. He hasn’t met anyone who has been upfront about their feelings to his boyfriend, much more trying to decide if Tae Kyung is a threat.
But before he could properly formulate his opinions of her, Tae Kyung already found himself nodding along to what Da On was saying, “what do you think? Don’t you think you can be friends?”
“Oh,” Tae Kyung said, ignoring the pinch in his heart, “yes.”
He wasn’t able to reject the offer, he couldn’t but why would Da On placed him in such a position to befriend a girl who is open about her feelings towards Da On?
“It’s been 3 years since I liked Da On.”
Tae Kyung wanted to know more about the other girl but the sudden sound of a book being slammed shut made jumped slightly off his seat and the thought just flew out of his mind. He watched in confusion as Shin Woo abruptly began to pack his things without warning, haphazardly stuffing the book he was reading a second ago into his bag.
“Where are you going?” Da On asked, making sure his tone was kept light. He didn’t like this gut feeling he is currently having towards Shin Woo but refuses to think more of it.
“I can’t focus because it’s too noisy in here,” Shin Woo simply explained and left without another word.
Da On stared at his shoes thoughtfully while the other members remained quiet, quite unsure on what to say or how to react with the latest outburst by their vice-president. Tae Kyung glanced at Da On who seemed to think that it was best for him to follow after the angsty boy which in hindsight, probably isn’t Da On’s greatest idea. But how was he to know the following events that would lead up to it?
Da On watched carefully as Shin Woo trailed behind Tae Kyung, with his shoulder dropping down slightly, eyes looking downcast. It looked as though Da On was staring at a wounded puppy. His boyfriend on the other hand, was staring straight ahead, barely glancing at anyone as he took a seat next to him. Da On recognises that look. It usually means that his boyfriend is agitated about something and it was bothering him. Normally a hug or cuddling would ease the tension in the younger boy but doing so right now was not an option.
Da On’s eyes flickered back to Shin Woo who took a seat in front of Tae Kyung. Watching his vice-president carefully, Da On felt himself instinctively clenched his jaw when Shin Woo seemed to reach out to Tae Kyung. But that action was as minute as Da On’s reaction which he doubts anyone noticed if they haven’t been playing closed attention to the two of them.
Not saying anything, the five of them continued to eat in silence. Not sure what exactly took over him, but Da On spoke up, breaking the tensed silence the the council room.
“Tae Kyung, what are you doing after school today?”
He could see the slight confusion behind the younger’s eyes at that question and Da On instantly felt bad for putting Tae Kyung on the spot. It was clear that all eyes were on them, watching and listening to them closely. And if Da On’s hunch was right, one a little more closely than the rest.
“I’m not doing anything.”
“Then do you want to eat something delicious with me?”
“Just the two of us?” Tae Kyung clarified, the look of confusion clearly evident on his face, his eyebrows pinched slightly with a small purse of his pink lips.
“No, with two 10th graders from Saebit Girls High School. A blind date? My friend asked me to do it but two girls are coming so I don’t want to go alone.”
The hurt behind Tae Kyung’s eyes is beginning to make this entire conversation painful but Da On has already began to dig a hole for himself. He might as well bury himself in it. Hopefully Tae Kyung will understand him when he has the opportunity to explain.
“Nam Jung looks like that because he played games all night.”
As if on cue, Nam Jung drooped his eyes a little and let out a yawn.
“And Shin Woo isn’t the type to do this kind of thing.”
Da On stared at Shin Woo, an obvious challenge in his eyes which the latter quickly looked down to avoid eye contact.
“You’re the only one that’s left, Tae Kyung. Let’s go together.”
“I’ve never gone on one before. I’m not that handsome either.”
“You’re handsome.”
“Huh?”
“No,” Da On paused off beat, “I think you’re pretty.”
It felt like time had stopped in the room as the two of them stared at each other, Tae Kyung bearing more a look of disbelief at what he was hearing, while the other looked back with the usual softness in his eyes.
It was the aggressive coughing and choking from Shin Woo that made Tae Kyung and Da On finally break eye contact. Da On glanced at Shin Woo who was struggling to clear his throat, quickly accepting the bottle of water passed to him from Nam Jung.
Shin Woo was acting suspicious and Da On does not like it one bit. Turning his attention away, Da On focuses on his boyfriend instead, filling the new piece of information about his vice-president for another time.
