Work Text:
Nurani takes a nervous breath as they shake out their arms and smooth down the dress they are wearing. “Okay, okay… I got this,” they mutter and smile shyly as they think about Klahan asking them out to this dance.
They both agreed to date after a soft, flustered moment, and Klahan looked so cute, blushing and rubbing the back of her head when she asked if Nurani wanted to go to the palace's annual dance with her.
Nurani stuttered out a very shy yes. They wished they were more confident and answered less like a flustered mess and more like a composed adult. But it's done now, and they have a date.
Nurani whines and covers their face. Getting a date with Klahan was so surprising and exhilarating, they don’t know if they should be jumping off the walls with excitement or shaking like a leaf with nerves. So, obviously, they are doing both.
Nurani pats their cheeks, clearing their mind as they get to work on make up. It still comes naturally to them, even after not using any.
They finish up with pushing their hair back neatly. They get their much smaller crutch, so as to not get in the way, petting Linics head as they do. “I’ll let you have a day off Linc,” they say softly. Linic grumbles and purrs softly as she naps on a big cat bed. Nurani moves to say goodbye to their grandma before they leave and begin the walk to the palace.
A short trek later, Nurani takes a deep breath and walks into the palace, to where they and Klahan agreed on meeting up. They look around when the doors open, seeing a few people already there. That's when their eyes catch a glimpse of short hair, and they linger on Klahan. She's wearing a nice, light pink outfit with dark purple pants with gold accents. She also has some jewellery on, and Nurani takes a shaky breath again and blushes softly. They can feel the heat run down their neck as they begin to move closer.
Having moved up to stand in front of Klahan as she chats with a waiter, Nurani clears their throat. “H-hey Klahan...”
Klahan ends the conversation and turns her head to look at Nurani, smiling. She is about to greet them but stops and looks them over. A gentle flush shows on her cheeks, going unnoticed by Nunari. “You look... different. Like, good different! I mean, you're cute usually but um, what am I saying…” she babbles out, eyes wandering over Nurani. She scratches the back of her neck in embarrassment. “You look really pretty, Nurani…”
Nurani blushes even more. “Y-you look p-pretty yourself...” They stutter horribly at the compliment, and cover their flushed face a little.
Klahan grins gently at that. "Thanks!" she says, chuckling as Nurani uncovers their face and watches her grin.
“Y-you’ll always very be welcome- I mean, you’re welcome!” they stutter, embarrassed, messing up ‘you're welcome’ and ‘you'll always be very pretty.’ They feel the flush deepen at their mess-up and internally groan at themself.
They two stare at each other for a moment until Klahan does a fancy dramatic flourish and holds out a hand. “If you'll do me the honor?” she asks, giving Nurani a smirk.
Nurani stares at her for a moment before they look at her hand, then blush even more. “L-like dance? I um... Sure... but it might be a bit awkward,” they mutter, gesturing to their missing leg as they put their crutch aside, leaning it to a pillar, and take Klahan’s hand shyly.
Klahan immediately supports their waist and back firmly. “Don't worry I've got this,” she whispers and dips Nurani, twirling them with the grace of a dancer.
Nurani makes a noise of surprise at the sudden dip and twirl, flushed down to their shoulder. Klahan smiles down at Nurnai “That wasn't too much, was it? Let me know if you want to stop, alright?” she says with a gentleness that would make Nurnani whine if they weren’t in public.
They watch Klahan with a gentle smile and giggle. “No… This is really nice,” they whisper in a gentle voice, getting more comfortable with the situation.
Klahan smiles at them. “That's great! Just tell me if you do,” she says as they dance in that same spot.
Nurani nods and lets Klahan lead them as she dances around with them. With Klahan supporting Nurani’s waist at one point to lift them gently and spin them around, they continue to dance and smile at each other, getting lost in each other like they are the only two there, until they both get tired. They eventually just start to sway on the spot, music still playing in the background.
They sway together in a gentle silence, giggling and smiling at each other. After a while, Klahan wraps an arm around Nurani and leads them off to sit down. “Would you like something to drink or eat?” she asks, helping them sit down, even when they tell Klahan they are okay.
Nurani giggles at her being silly and nods. “Yeah, I’d love something...” they say in a soft voice and watch as Klahan gets the crutch they abandoned. Klahan comes back and sets it down next to Nurani.
“I think I saw kueh,” Klahan says and smiles at Nurani as they perk up at the mention of sweet cake.
“Kueh? Yes please!” they say, excited and smiling brightly.
Klahan watches them for a moment, melting a little at how cute they are and nods. “Sure thing, fizzy drinks and some Kueh coming right up! Wait here,” she says and goes off to get herself and Nurani something to snack on.
When she comes back, she helps them up again. “Let's go to the balcony, it’ll be quieter,” she says, smirking her pretty smirk.
Nurani stares at her lips for a moment before they blush and nod. “Y-yeah, lets…” they whisper and let Klahan guide them. Not that they need it but Nurani finds it cute that she worries about them.
As they step out into the fresh night air and the music grows more distant, they both look at each other and begin to relax, starting to drink and eat under the moonlight, talking softly about both their hobbies and work.
They stay out there until the party ends, having talked all night.
At the end of the night, they walk out onto the stairs of the palace when Klahan speaks up, taking Nurani’s hand, “Let me walk you home. I insist,” she says smiling, interlocking their fingers and squeezing gently, pulling Nurani closer.
Nurani flushes and nods, trying to not squeak. “Yes, I... Yeah sure.” They giggle shyly.
Klahan smiles and they head off to Nurnais home.
The walk is quiet, with a gentle breeze caressing their faces as they walk hand in hand, pulled close to each other.
As they get near to Nuranis home, they both get more nervous. But there is also a general happiness between them, since their date went so well.
They approach the doorway and Klahan stops a ways away to pull Nurani close again. Nurani starts to blush and watches her.
“I had a great night,” Klahan whispers and pulls Nurani’s hand up to kiss their knuckles.
Nurani blushes deeply, though feeling a little disappointed, and - almost without thinking - once Klahan moves back up and lets go of their hand, Nurani wraps their fingers around the back of Klahan’s neck and leans in to kiss her on the lips gently.
“You missed… I’d like a proper kiss,” they whisper, and a gentle silence comes over them as they both flush deeply. Nurani freezes and starts to stutter out an apology as Klahan simply stares at them.
Halfway through the stammered apology, Klahan comes out of it and smiles, putting a finger to Nurani’s lip and silencing their babbling in doing so. “Sorry, I thought maybe you wanted to take it slow... but yes,” she whispers, moving the finger down over their lips and placing her thumb on their chin to lift their face up a little. “This does seem more appropriate.” She leans in to give Nurani another gentle kiss, brushing their lips together warm and soft and sweet.
When Klahan leans back, Nurani is even redder. “I-I...” they stammer softly, not finding the words.
Klahan watches them with a soft look. “I’ll see you tomorrow, yeah?”
Nurani nods and stutters out another mess of a sentence, “W-walk back safe, You’re reallyprettybye...” They turn around quickly and fumble with the door handle.
Klahan watches with a chuckle and flushed cheeks as Nurani stumbles inside and pushes the door shut. She hums and almost does a little twirl as she turns around to head home. She can’t help smiling the whole way and gently touching her fingers to her lips every so often.
Meanwhile, Nurani is being greeted by a smirking Linci on the couch, ears perked up. She obviously heard everything.
Nurani blushes deeper. “S-shut up Linci...” they whisper as they move into their room and drop onto their bed to bury their face in their pillow with a giddy smile.
