to venti, intoxication is another form of freedom.
it’s a form where one starts to lose themselves, their sense of reality, responsibilities, and memories. all of them step aside to let pleasure take center stage. pleasure is the true freedom, allowing one to forget their hardships and worries. pleasure lets one to be free, even if it’s only for a moment.
oh, but how wonderful the temporary freedom is.
venti sings a little tune to himself before taking a large sip of his new bottle of wine. he giggles, already anticipating his awaited freedom. he can’t wait for it to happen - when his mind starts to slip, when he’s finally able to forget everything about himself.
he’ll finally be able to forget how the body he inhabits is not is own. he’ll finally be able to forget how he avoids mirrors, talking about his past, and even holding his lyre for too long.
he’ll finally be able to forget how his entire reason for being alive in the first place, to show that person the world he never got to see, will never be fulfilled as long as he keeps being a coward.
venti takes another drink, longer than the first. his freedom isn’t coming fast enough.
