Chapter Text
“Please,” the woman said and one of Alex’s once bright eyes opened and he saw a face he didn’t think he would see, it was his mother kneeling next to him. “Alex don’t leave me,” she cried and all Alex heard was sirens before everything faded to black.
When Alex regained consciousness again, he was inside of an ambulance. He looked to the side everything was blurry so he blinked and saw his mother. She was crying and didn’t realize her son had woken up. When she looked up, all she saw was her son passing out again. “Alex…please…don’t leave me” she said to him while sobbing harder “come on my son… I need you… I am sorry. I love you so much. Stay strong I know you can do it!”
After 10 minutes they finally arrived at the hospital. The doctors took him straight to surgery, since he got a lot of trauma to the head and abdominal injuries caused by the impact of the fall.
While the surgeons where trying to save her sons live, Daphne used Alex’ phone to call his friend Luke, to inform him what happened.
“Alex?” Luke said after answering his phone.
“I… I’m not Alex…” she started failing to hide her sobs “it’s Daphne Mercer, Alex’ mom. I-“
“Let me stop you right there. I don’t know where Alex is! And I wouldn’t even dream of telling you! I just wanna know why the heck you have his phone!” He interrupted her, fully ignoring her crying.
“I… Luke I know you don’t like me bu-“
“That’s one way to put it!” He interrupted again.
“Please let me finish it is already hard enough…” she said and still cried. “You and your friends…you need to come to the hospital. H-he…well…A-Alex…h-he jumped off the roof of the O-Orpheum trying…to…to kill him self…He…he is still in surgery…they try to save him…please come… he needs you guys…” she could bearly finish to tell him.
Luke was frozen for a moment. Trying to comprehend what he just was told. He looked at the others and they looked at him not knowing what was going on.
“Wh-what?” He stammered. It was all he could do. “I thought…but he was fine…he told me yesterday he was fine. That can’t be true! It’s a cruel prank!”
“Luke…it’s not a prank…I would never do that…” she still cried and she could hear that Luke was trying so hard to keep everything together.
“H-How is he? Is he going to be okay? He needs to be okay!” Luke started crying he couldn’t hold it in anymore, not even for the sakes of the others.
“I-I don’t know…please come. Alex needs you guys. His band…his friends…his f-family.”
“Ye-yeah we’re on our way.” He ended the call, told everyone to go to the car and filed them in on what happened.
After of what seemed to be ages, the hospital doors opened and Daphne saw all of her sons friends rushing in. All of their eyes where bloodshot, just like her own. They all were crying. It broke her heart even more.
“Is he out of surgery yet?” Julie asked her as soon they reached her.
Daphne looked at the kids, fully aware that she has to break them even more now. She started crying again.
“No…not yet sweetie. They are trying their best…a d-doctor has to be out any second now.”
After 2 hours of waiting, crying and staring one of the surgeons came to them.
“Daphne Mercer?” he asked.
“That’s me.” she said and stood up.
“Would you please come with me to my office. We need to talk about your son Alexander.”
She nodded and was about to go when she remembered the envelope. Daphne turned to Luke and said softly “He wrote you a letter… you should probably read it. I don’t know what he wrote…but it’s addressed to you…he wanted you to read it.” She gave the guitarist the envelope.
Luke took it but didn’t open it right away.
With a terrified look, she followed the doctor inside the office. The kids didn’t hear what Alex’ mom was told, but because of the glass fronts they saw Daphne broke down as soon as the doctor started talking.
