Work Text:

It felt like the pressure in the room was pressing directly onto Suna's back.

He was beginning to feel like he could zone in on every single shout, cheer and boo that was being thrown at him and the team.

His eyes flicked towards the screen even though he knew what the score was, like it was burned into his eyes.

They were up, the last set and they could win this.

Being subbed into the match halfway through felt both like a relief and like a massive weight pressing onto his chest, he needed to perform here and he was nervous.

Nerves were something that were relatively new to him, he never normally got nervous before or during games, he could normally tell what the outcome of the game was going to be. The only ones he'd gotten drastically wrong were their match against Karasuno in his second year of high school and the last match of the league last year when he thought they would lose and they pulled off a drastic win so this was new, this feeling of nerves around his entire body.

He wanted to win this, he wanted to go to the final. Even if he didn't get to play in the final, he still wanted to say he'd helped his team get there.

He glanced over at Aran, somebody who always helped him stay calm during matches and then at Atsumu who was waiting anxiously at the sideline after being subbed back out for Kageyama.

If Suna was being honest with himself, he'd prefer to see Atsumu standing next to him where Kageyama was. It wasn't that he didn't like Kageyama or trust Kageyama to do a good job, he was the best setter in Japan after all but Atsumu felt like a piece of home, a piece of comfort that he would prefer in this exact moment. He knew Kiyoomi probably felt exactly the same from where he was stood nearby.

One more point.

One more point.

One more point.

It went around and around in his head as he jumped up for the block. It was like he didn't even have to think about what he was doing anymore when he jumped up for a block, he trusted his own instinct.

The ball bounced off his hand towards where he knew Komori was stood, waiting.

"One touch!" He shouted out, hoping and praying to anybody that he could think of as he watched his teammates. He watched the ball leave Kageyama's hands.

He watched it touch Hinata's hand.

And he was sure that his heart stopped for a moment.

Then the sound he had been waiting for, the sound of the ball hitting the floor on the other side of the net.

For a few seconds, it was like everything was happening in slow motion. The ball hit the floor and it felt like silence had descended on the entire room, everyone on the other side just stared at the ball and everyone on his side of the net were doing the same until Bokuto broke the silence from where he was stood next to Suna.

"We did it!" He yelled and that seemed to be what everyone needed to finally realise what had happened and suddenly everyone around him was jumping for absolute joy around him.

Aran grabbed him and pulled him into a hug, Atsumu joining as he ran towards them for a few seconds before running off to find Kiyoomi.

"I can't believe this is happening," Suna huffed out as he pulled away from his friend. "We're going to the final."

"We're going to the final Rin!" Aran cheered and the two of them shared a high five before he headed over to the stands where Suna could see Kita out of the corner of his eye.

His own eyes roamed the front of the stands until he landed on one Miya Osamu.

Suna could tell by the way Osamu's eyes crinkled that he was about two seconds away from crying and Suna could say the same for himself, he still couldn't believe this was happening. He was at his first Olympics - first of many he hoped - and they were going to the final, they were going to get gold, they were going to win and Suna could say that he'd played a big part in it even if he was so exhausted he could honestly cry a little bit of the spot.

"Rin!" Suna was surprised that he could hear Osamu over the amount of sheer noise in the room, maybe it was because he was so trained in listening out for it.

The grin that was on Osamu's face made everything in Suna light up a little bit, he was an Olympic finalist and had the best boyfriend, he literally didn't think he'd ever been happier than he was then. He grinned back at Osamu before jogging towards where he was stood, taking the shoulder pat from Kita as he walked past where he and Aran were stood in conversation still.

"Rin, oh my god," Osamu said as Suna appeared in front of him. "I'm so proud of ya Rin, yer were amazing out there!"

"Thank you 'Samu," Rin reached up to meet Osamu's lips with his own. "You look nervous 'Samu, are you okay?"

"You just played probably the biggest game you've ever played and you're asking me if I'm okay?" Osamu asked, an amused look on his face but Suna could see the nerves that plagued his boyfriend's features. "Are you okay?" Osamu asked, resting his hand on Suna's cheek.

"I'm okay but there is definitely something bothering you and I need you to tell me because we're about to go and line up." Suna said, resting his own hand on Osamu's.

"Okay, okay, hold on," Osamu took his hand away and Suna immediately missed the feeling of his warm hand on his cheek. "Okay, I'm doing this now, I promised myself I would do this now so I'm doing this now," Osamu glanced over at Kita and Aran who were watching them intently and nodded towards Kita. "I was going to do this after you won gold but I want to do this now I don't want to wait a few more days. So, here goes," Osamu was stalling, Suna knew that much.

"Rin, Rin, ya are the most incredible person I know. I love ya so much, I have for so long, since we were in our first year of high school I knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you. You make me so happy, you make me laugh and are the best listener I know, you've supported me in every single thing I've done and I've been thinking about us for a while and I've wanted to do this for a while and this moment is so special and I hope ya don't hate me for doing this as such a big moment but it feels right and I'm so stalling right now and I need ta stop so Rin," Osamu paused and reached for something in his pocket and suddenly Suna felt like crying, Osamu was about to propose here, now. "Will you marry me?"

The whole room went silent - well it didn't but it felt like it did in that moment for Suna - as he stared up at his boyfriend.

Osamu was looking more nervous by the second and Suna was suddenly very aware that he hadn't said anything yet.

"Yes." Suna whispered, the tears that were beginning to pool at the back of his eyes were starting to fall down his face and when he looked back at Osamu, he was crying too. "It would be an honour to marry you 'Samu."

"Fuck." Osamu whispered causing the two of them to laugh softly as Osamu placed his ring on Suna's finger.

"'Samu, Rin congratulations!" Aran shouted from where he and Kita were now standing next to them. "I can't believe it, the last of our group finally getting married!"

"What's going on?" Atsumu shouted as him and the rest of the team came to see what the commotion was about.

"We're getting married," Suna said simply and watched about five different emotions go across Atsumu's face as he looked between the pair and then towards Kiyoomi who's arms were around Atsumu's shoulders, his head rested on the top of Atsumu's.

"You-yer getting married?" That's all it took for Atsumu to burst into tears, slipping away from his own fiancé to throw his arms around Suna tightly. "I can't believe it Rin, Samu! I can't believe ya didn't tell me ya scrub!"

"Atsumu, baby, you can't keep a secret," Kiyoomi whispered from beside the two of them as Atsumu threw his arms around his brother.

"Omi Omi, mean," Atsumu cried.

"Kiyoomi is right ya dumbass!" Osamu shouted as his twin as the two pulled away, "ya would have accidentally told Rin!" Atsumu was still sulking but Suna knew that he was struggling to maintain his anger, his tears were still spilling down his face, more so than both Suna and Osamu put together and they were the two who were engaged.

"Guys! We need to go and lineup now!" Bokuto shouted from where he was stood, one arm around Suna and one arm around Atsumu. "But, we'll carry this on afterwards!"

Suna couldn't keep the smile off of his face as he lined up with the team and shook hands with the other players, thanking the few that threw a congratulations his way before joining back up with his team to thank the crowd.

He wanted this to be over.

He hated doing media anyway.

But especially now.

He just wanted to hold his boyfriend - his fiancé.

"So, a big day for you Suna?" Asked the journalist from monthly volleyball, thankfully the other person he was going to have to speak to. "Japan going to the final and getting engaged, tonight is definitely one to remember right?"

"Of course. Every game I play is for my boyfriend too because he's always kept me motivated."

"That's sweet!" The journalist squealed and Suna was already tired of her, he was exhausted, he just wanted a shower to sneak Osamu into his room. "Were you expecting him to pop the question?"

"No, not at all."

"You heard it hear first folks, looks like there's going to be another team Japan wedding soon!" Suna ignored the rest of the questions in favour of finding the nearest shower that he could soak himself under.

Suna turned the water closer to the cold setting than normal, wanting to just wash away all of the sweat and stress that currently felt like it was clinging to him like a rash. He could hear the chatter from his teammates, everything from plays that they needed to perfect before the final to the pure happiness that was going around the group from the win to questions being fired at Aran - mostly from Atsumu - about what he had seen from the OsaSuna engagement moment.

He was glad that it had only been the two of them standing there in that moment. He knew that he would go on twitter and see a thousand pictures taken from all angles of the moment but he hadn't paid attention to anybody around him, he was sharing a moment with his boyfriend and that moment had been the happiest so far. Suna glanced down at his hand, at the silver band that was now resting on his finger and smiled to himself - he wasn't one to outpour emotion a lot around other people - Osamu was his exception but part of him wanted to go and shout to the team about how he couldn't believe what had happened.

He was marrying the man he loved the most and nobody could take that away from him.

Even if they didn't win gold in a few days, he knew these games would go down as his absolute favourite.

Suna made quick work of getting changed into his softest clothes whilst most of the team were in the shower. He sat down on the bench near to where Hinata and Kageyama were sharing their own private moment and checked his phone. He almost closed Twitter straight away when he saw the overwhelming amount of notifications he had but he wanted to see pictures of their engagement secretly.

He made his way through some of what people were saying, rolling his eyes at the jealous fangirls in his mentions saying their usual shit about Osamu and saved some of the pictures that were floating around. One of the two of them holding one another. One of Osamu holding the ring box and a rare shot of the two of them crying as well as the ones of Atsumu hugging them both.

@BetterMiya

I can't believe tonight happened.

@MSBYMiya

@BetterMiya still can't believe I didn't know!

Suna smiled to himself and rolled his eyes at Atsumu when he got out of the shower before turning his attention back to his phone.

@EJPSuna

Going for gold! [Attached picture of Suna, Aran and Atsumu with their arms around each other's shoulders post game]

@EJPSuna

Also, can't believe I get to marry my best friend. Thank you to everyone for your support. And @MSBYMiya, get better at keeping secrets and we'll tell you things. [Attached picture of Osamu holding the engagement ring]

"Cold Rin," Atsumu grumbled as he sat down on the bench next to him. "But I'm happy for ya both!"

"Thanks 'Tsumu," Suna said, smiling at his best friend.

The next twenty minutes seemed to pass at a snail's pace as Suna waited for the rest of the team to be ready, then they had their post match speech from Hibarida, their schedule for tomorrow from Iwaizumi and a final congratulations from Kuroo before they could finally leave.

Suna thanked the rest of the team for all of their congratulations, hugged both Aran and Atsumu before heading out into the cool air.

"Rin!" His head perked up as soon as he heard Osamu's voice. He was standing against the wall, shivering. "Finally!"

"Sorry, sorry," Suna replied, taking his own jacket off and placing it around Osamu's shoulders. "You're a moron for not bringing a jacket," Suna scolded, pressing a kiss to his boyfriend's lips.

"Well I thought ya would only be ten minutes!"

"It's not my fault the team takes so long to change," Suna shrugged. He let his fingers entwine with Osamu's as he led the two of them towards his accommodation. "You're staying with me tonight and before you say you're not allowed to, Hibarida agreed to turn a blind eye this once, after all, we just got engaged." Suna could tell that he was talking fast and he also knew because he felt a new sense of nerves. He, of course, wasn't nervous about being with Osamu, he was nervous because he didn't know how he was supposed to act now that they were engaged.

"Ya thinking too loud Sunarin," Osamu pointed out as the two of them approached Suna's room. "Ya know, just because we're engaged now that doesn't change anything between us. And, I know ya gonna worry about the fact we're both busy people and now have to find time to plan a wedding but we will find the time because I can't wait to marry ya."

"I can't wait to marry you either."

"So, stop worrying and let us enjoy this night."

"I am enjoying it, this is the happiest I've ever been," Suna said as they walked into his room. Even in the dark room, he could see the blush that was sprinkling Osamu's cheeks. "It's true, I knew we'd win tonight and of course I'm happy about that but this," he said, holding his ring finger up, "this is us being together forever and that's all I want."

"I love you Rin, I love ya so fucking much and yer gonna make me cry," Osamu whispered, he rested his hand back on Suna's cheek and lead him towards the bed. "In fact, yep here come the tears."

Suna laughed softly, kissing both of Osamu's cheeks softly, kissing the tears away.

"I love you so much Miya Osamu and now the entire world knows." Suna said, pulling Osamu down so they were squeezed onto the single bed that was in the corner of the room. "I know I'm not always the best at showcasing my emotions and that I struggle to say the simple things sometimes but I hope you know how much I love you and that I've been planning to ask you myself for a while but I never found the ri-" Suna was cut off by a kiss to his lips.

"Ya don't need to worry about that Sunarin, I love ya and that means loving every part of ya."

"Thank you for accepting me at face value," Suna laughed, he rested his head on Osamu's chest, letting his eyes slip closed as Osamu rubbed small circles on his shoulder, his exhaustion finally catching up with him.

"Go to sleep Rin, ya must be exhausted, I'll be here when ya wake up, I promise."
