I said in the last fic that I was only going to post a couple but catch me wanting to post one everyday for the next week or so will that go well? Probably not.

I also have another idea for another IwaOi at the Olympics fic so lol it's happening.

Anyway, here's IwaOi reuniting at the Olympics!

Work Text:

The bus ride to the Olympic village seemed to be lasting forever to Iwaizumi. He was trying to silence his own excitement for seeing Tooru again, it had been two long months since the two of them had last seen each other for the last time before they both knew that Olympic training was going to get crazy along with doing a promotional tour and signing for sponsorships so they had taken the opportunity to see each other once more before they were reunited at the Olympics.

Iwaizumi also loved being in the knowledge that this was the last time the two of them would be apart for a long period as after the Olympics, Oikawa was coming home and Iwaizumi couldn't wait.

He would be alone for two weeks post Olympics before Oikawa was coming home and Iwaizumi was so ready to be back with his love.

He couldn't wait to fall asleep next to Oikawa and wake up with him everyday.

Hanamaki and Matsukawa also couldn't wait for Oikawa to finally come home, Iwaizumi knew that too even if they tried to pretend that they weren't. Iwaizumi was excited for the four of them to be able to hang out with each other again for the first time properly since Oikawa had left for Brazil all of those years ago. Sure, Oikawa had visited them all in Japan a couple of times but it didn't feel quite the same because they all knew that eventually, Oikawa would have to leave again but now, now he was coming home and he was staying home.

But, first, the Olympics.

Iwaizumi had so much faith in his team. Of course, he would be happy if Oikawa and Argentina won but he had a feeling, a feeling that Japan would win gold and he had every faith that his team could do it.

He loved his job. He loved training with people he's known since he was in high school, loved watching all of them grow with every practice and every game that they played. He, of course, had a special soft spot for watching Hinata and Kageyama grow up and continue to get better. Iwaizumi had believed that they would get to this point eventually from their very first practice match but he still felt a sense of pride watching the two of them play, he was so happy that Kageyama had found his person, both on and off court.

And, he knew that the two of them were very excited at the prospect of getting to play with Oikawa again because the two of them still looked up to him.

One thing Iwaizumi was thankful for was that Hinata and Oikawa had spent time together in Brazil. He knew very well how much Hinata looked up to Oikawa and he was glad that the two of them had the chance to bond and it also bonded Oikawa and Kageyama too so the four of them were very close now which made Iwaizumi happy because he also thought that the four of them were pretty good power couples.

Not that he'd ever admit that.

As soon as the bus pulled up to the Olympic Village, Iwaizumi could feel the excitement run through the entire bus.

Training had been hard, it had been long days, sometimes towards the early hours of the morning. He knew that the promotional stuff they'd had to take part in was something that took a toll on all of them but he hoped that the destination would make the entire thing worth it for all of them. He was proud of everyone on the bus and how much they had achieved and now they were here, the big one.

The Olympics.

The team made quick work of filing off of the bus and grabbing all of their bags.

It was unbelievable how much luggage they had, Iwaizumi secretly thought to himself as he grabbed his own bags.

They were almost at their accommodation when Oikawa made himself known to the team.

Iwaizumi thought it must be weird for the team members that had never met Oikawa because between himself, Kageyama and Hinata, they probably felt like they had because the three of them talked about him more than Iwaizumi was ready to admit. He was sure that some of them were probably fed up of hearing Tooru's name but he was never going to be ashamed about the amount he talked about his boyfriend because it helped him through how much he missed his boyfriend when he wasn't around.

He was sure by the end of the next two weeks, all of them would be well acquainted with him.

"Look who finally turned up!" Iwaizumi tried to hide his grin as he looked towards his boyfriend.

Oikawa had a massive grin on his face as he looked towards the team. He high-fived both Hinata and Kageyama before moving through their small crowd towards Iwaizumi.

"Okay, let's go and get checked in, Hajime, come and find us when you're ready." Iwaizumi sent so many silent thank you towards Hibarida as he ushered the team towards the check in point where Kuroo and Kenma were also waiting for the team.

As the two of them were left alone, suddenly, Iwaizumi couldn't find the right words to say. He wanted to tell Oikawa how much he had missed him and how happy he was that they were finally back together, how much he loved him but he just couldn't find the right words to say and it seemed Oikawa was having the same problem.

"I feel like you're over thinking Hajime," Oikawa stated, crossing his arms around his chest.

Iwaizumi rolled his eyes fondly and let his eyes trail across Oikawa's body. He looked like he had even more muscle than when Iwaizumi had last seen him. He knew that Oikawa always trained harder than anybody else that he knew but he hoped that he hadn't been pushing himself too much. Not that he had to worry as much as he had in high school because Oikawa definitely had a much healthier work ethic than he had back then but he couldn't help but worry a little bit when he was alone and hadn't heard from his boyfriend for a couple of days.

"God, I missed you." Iwaizumi stated, throwing his arms around his boyfriend.

He decided that he didn't care how many people looked at them as they walked past the two of them. He was just so happy that he was reunited with the love of his life, the man he'd been in love with since they were thirteen years old.

Iwaizumi could admit that he was worried when the two of them were separated. It wasn't as bad when he was in California and Oikawa was in Brazil but when he moved back to Japan, he was worried that they would struggle - and they did - especially at the beginning but they also knew that they loved each other so much that distance was something that would prove difficult but they would get through and now here they were - under a month away from both of them being back in Japan for the rest of their lives - he hoped.

"I missed you too Hajime. I've been counting down the days," Oikawa whispered back, pulling away from the hug.

"You look so tanned," Iwaizumi laughed, resting his hand on Oikawa's cheek. "I've been counting down the days too. I've been with Kageyama a lot through the promotional tour and he's been talking my ear off about how he and Hinata want to have front row seats for all of your games."

"Well, I'd expect nothing less!" Oikawa exclaimed, "I'll be watching your games too, of course. Apart from when we beat you in the final!"

"Nah, I won't let that happen. This is the monster generation!"

"We'll still win!"

"Yeah we will Tooru!" The two men looked in the direction of where the voice had come from to see three of Oikawa's teammates watching them. "Argentina are going for gold."

"We are predicted to win though," Iwaizumi laughed, shaking hands with the three men. "I'm Hajime."

"We know, Tooru never shuts up about you." One of them explained, throwing a smirk towards Oikawa. "We'll let the two of you finish catching up, hope to see all of you in the stands at our first game!"

Iwaizumi smiled at his boyfriend, pressing a kiss to his cheek gently.

He couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of pride for Oikawa. He had truly dove straight in at the deep end by moving so far away from home to a country he'd never been before, being recognised many years in a row as one of the best volleyball players of the generation to now being here at the Olympics, one of the favourites to take home the gold after Japan. Iwaizumi couldn't wait to watch him play volleyball again, of course, he'd watched every single match replay when he couldn't watch them live but being in the stands and cheering Oikawa on was something that Iwaizumi couldn't wait to partake in again.

Sweat was beginning to trickle down the back of Iwaizumi's neck as the sun was bearing down on them, the summer heat was definitely not one of his favourite things but he knew Oikawa loved it.

"Do you want to check in and drop your stuff? Then we can just hang out until training tonight."

"Yeah that sounds good."

Before they reached Iwaizumi's room, they could already hear conversations between his teammates. It was easy to tell where Kageyama and Hinata were staying as he could hear Hinata's excited voice and could also hear Koutarou talking excitedly - he assumed he was talking to Keiji on the phone who would be at all of their games with their twins. Iwaizumi still remembered the days leading up to the adoption of the twins and how stressed Koutarou was, it had made him want to bring up having children with Oikawa - though that was something he'd talk about when he finally plucked up the courage to propose to him, he had the ring tucked in the pocket of his suitcase after all.

"Iwaizumi!" Miya Atsumu shouted at the pair of them as they passed in the hall. Kiyoomi was standing at his side, their hands entwined. "And the famous Oikawa."

"Tooru, this is Miya Atsumu and Sakusa Kiyoomi," Iwaizumi introduced politely. "Atsumu, Kiyoomi this is Oikawa Tooru."

"We've heard so much about you, of course. Not just from Iwaizumi, I'm sure Hinata and Kageyama still silently judge me based on your skill level." Iwaizumi squeezed Oikawa's hand tightly in his own, he knew how much a comment like that would mean to him, to know how much Hinata and Kageyama still looked up to him and his skill level. "It's good to finally meet you!"

"I mean, you wouldn't be able to keep up with the volleyball here without hearing the names of you too, plus, Hinata talks about you a lot." Oikawa explained, shaking the hands of both Atsumu and Kiyoomi.

"See, Omi Omi, we're so good."

"I mean, we're on the National team?" Kiyoomi replied, rolling his eyes fondly at his fiance. "Now come on, you're the one who wants to explore and I'm sure Iwaizumi and Oikawa want to have some time on their own," Kiyoomi said, pulling Atsumu down the hall with him.

"Now there's a pair you wouldn't expect work," Oikawa pointed out when they were in Iwaizumi's room. "Maybe that's why they work so well. People would say the same about us, that we shouldn't work and we definitely do."

"Yeah, believe me, they're so disgustingly in love, just like us." Iwaizumi replied, shoving his bags into the wardrobe.

The two of them spent the best part of an hour just catching up with one another - even though they called each other most days.

Iwaizumi was happy.

Beyond happy.

Ever since they were about ten years old, the Olympics had been something the two of them told each other they wanted to work towards. And now, here they were, at the Olympics together. It would only be better, of course, if they were both on the same team but Iwaizumi didn't really mind, not really. He was proud of the two of them and what they had achieved. He always knew that Oikawa would make it to the Olympics, that he would be known as one of the best players in the world but Iwaizumi didn't know that he would be here too - it was his goal of course to be one of the trainers for the Japanese National Team but he wasn't sure that he ever would and now here they were. And one of their teams would be going home with a gold medal, he was sure of it.

Oikawa's soft snores soon filled the room and Iwaizumi smiled softly to himself. Sometimes, he forgot that Oikawa was used to being in a time zone twelve hours away and he'd only arrived in Tokyo this morning so he must be beyond jet lagged.

Iwaizumi pressed a soft kiss to his forehead before leaving him in his bed and walking over to the window, watching other athletes walk by.

He glanced back at his boyfriend and smiled to himself, one of them was going to win gold and then Iwaizumi was going to ask that man to marry him.
