Work Text:
The Bellas just won nationals a second year in a row. Beca was ecstatic really, but all she could think about was the bed situation. Their budget was tight and Beca and Chloe got stuck in a single room…together.
Beca should tell her. The night prior she laid stiff as a board and on the very edge of the queen size bed. She listened to the sounds Chloe made in her sleep. They were light humming noises (it honestly made her fall more). She laid on her back, red hair curtaining on the pillow beneath her, with one arm above her head. She wanted nothing more than to curl up next to Chloe’s warm body and soak in her scent. To run her fingers across her smooth skin. She should tell her. She feels it wrong to lay that close to her, feeling the way she does, and Chloe just not know.
She sat at the bar and took one last sip of her drink, a fake ID doing it’s job tonight. The celebration had ended and everyone else had long ago gone up to their rooms or out to party. She should tell her. She pinched the bridge of her nose and stood up. “I’m going to tell her,” she said to herself with finality in her voice. She paid her tab at the hotel bar and slowly made it up to their room. Her words were carefully crafting in her mind as she walked.
Chloe, I need to tell you something. Your smile makes my chest ache. When you sing, it gives me goosebumps. I have to physically stop myself from getting lost in your eyes every time you look at me. I like you way more than just as a friend. I like you way more than anybody I've ever met.
She opened the door to find the lights were still on. “Chloe, I need to tell you some—-“ she slowly trailed off. Chloe was sitting up in bed. She was in an oversized Henley and her underwear. On her face sat black square glasses—the main reason Beca trailed off. Seeing Chloe in glasses was a sight she was not prepared for. It made her brain short circuit and her practiced words stick in her throat.
“What’s up, Becs?” She smiled.
“You wear glasses?” Beca asked, still staring at the redhead. She was amazed at how much the frames accentuated the blueness of her eyes.
“Yes,I usually wear my contacts but last night I fell asleep in them, and I definitely didn’t want to do that again,” Chloe answered as she adjusted the frames on her face.
“Oh,” Beca answered dumbly as she continued to stare at Chloe. Her brain was turning to mush with how sexy Chloe looked. Make up had been washed away and her shirt was big enough that part of her shoulders were revealed. Her tanned legs were a stark contrast to the white comforter she was sitting on. And the glasses. Holy fuck the glasses were a distraction.
“What’s wrong, Beca? You said we needed to talk. Oh God, is it Amy? Did she get kicked out of the hotel again?” Chloe started to get up.
“No, no, nothing like that,” Beca said while motioning for Chloe to remain seated.
“Then what is it?” Chloe asked with her head cocked to the side. She brought her legs up and crossed them in front of her.
Beca sat on the edge of the bed, close to the redhead. She turned her head to look at Chloe and again the sight of her in glasses made her brain scramble. “I—uh, um, I just gotta—“ Beca took a deep breath in. “Could you take your glasses off for a minute?” She asked.
“I can’t see without them,” Chloe said with a slight giggle.
“I know, but it will just make this easier,” Beca said looking away.
Chloe huffed and rolled her eyes, but did as requested. Beca turned back towards the woman. She was still in awe of her beauty, but she felt like she could actually produce words now.
“Chloe, I don’t really know how to say this. I had this whole speech planned on the way up here, because we are sharing a bed and I just don’t know—“
Chloe reached a hand over and touched Beca’s leg and it stopped Beca’s rambling. “Whatever it is just tell me, Beca.”
Beca took another deep breath while hoping she still had some liquid courage left. “I’m in love with you,” Beca blurted out. “I love everything about you. Your smile, your laugh, the way you practically radiate sunshine. When you sing, it makes my entire body vibrate. And your eyes, god do you realize how entrancing they—“
Chloe wanted to cry tears of joy at the outburst. She couldn’t even let Beca finish before she lunged forward and gently grabbed her face. She pressed her lips to hers, and after a moment of shock, Beca eagerly kissed her back.
After a minute or so, Chloe slowly pulled away. “I love you, too. I have for a while now,” she said breathlessly.
“I’d never thought I’d hear you say that,” Beca said with a shy smile.
Chloe responded by kissing her again. Beca reciprocated quickly this time and before long they were laying side by side making out. Beca’s hand rested on Chloe’s hip as her fingers danced across smooth skin from where her shirt had ridden up. Chloe’s hand was caressing the side of Beca’s face as they kissed.
Chloe was the one to finally pull away. Beca whimpered at the loss of contact. She smiled and pressed her forehead to Beca’s. “We should probably slow down for tonight,” She said with a hint of regret.
“You’re right,” Beca sighed. “You’re a really really good kisser,” she added.
“Back at you,” Chloe giggled. She pecked her lips once more before pulling away completely.
“Becs, I do have one question,” Chloe said.
“What’s that?” Beca asked while propping herself up on her elbow.
“Why did you make me take my glasses off?”
Beca chuckled, “This is kind of embarrassing, but it’s because you looked so damn sexy my brain wouldn’t work.”
Chloe laughed in response. “I think I’ll file that fact away for future use,” she said with a wink.
