“So, in 2195 interplanetary colonization begins on Earth,” he began. “Technical term. On paper it was the ‘Great Expansion.’ Essentially, it was a second space race. Lots of countries got involved, England included, all trying to start a ‘new frontier’ in the stars.”
He gave Alice a pacifier when she started to fuss a little, and Rose just watched.
“That sounds dangerous,” she said. He shrugged.
“Human nature, Rose. Divide and conquer. That never goes away.”
