You should be sleeping

Summary:

Arachne arrives home very late, but still there's someone awake to say "Hi" to her

Work Text:

The woman hung her long coat and took off her heels, careful not to make loud noises. She put her bag and suitcase next to the wall and walked calmly towards the kitchen. Grabbing a cup and filling it with water.

It was so relaxing to just be at home after a long trip.

Arachne used the low brightness from her phone to guide the way to her kid's room, she opened the door and looked around. The tablet was peeking under the bed, which made her arch an eyebrow. And saw the blanket cocoon shift slightly. Ara sat on the edge of Jean's bed, caressing his head, the boy's lips turned mischievously, betraying his act.

“You think I wouldn't notice you're awake?” She asked, leaning to kiss his head. “It's almost four. What would your mamá say if she saw that?”

“She'd pull my ear again.” He whispered and slightly opened his eyes, enough for her to see the soft brown. “How was the trip?”

“It was good. How was your week?” She began making curls on his hair, he leaned into her touch.

“It was fun. Yasmin brought cookies, and I went to uncle Dig's house when mom had to take another shift.” He bit his lip and fiddled with the blanket. “I dreamed I had a sibling.”

Arachne smiled softly. “Is that so?”

“Yeah.”

“Well, go to sleep and we can talk about that tomorrow.” His eyes widened enormously.

“Really?!” He exclaimed in a whisper.

“Just, if you go to sleep.” He nodded, kissing her cheek and whispering goodnight, before turning to the wall and closing his eyes.

Arachne huffed amused and went to their room, Yanna was all curled up in the fluffy blankets, her wavy hair sprawled on the pillows, and the point of her strawberry robe was showing. Knowing her, it was too warm and cozy to take it off.

After a quick and refreshing shower, she laid down next to her wife. Yanna shifted, sliding closer to her, they entangled their legs and Ara kissed her forehead.

“I missed you.” The blond muttered without opening her eyes.

“Missed you too. Love you.”

“Love ya.”

Arachne still took a while to drift asleep, Jean's words and the thoughts she had on the trip keeping her up.

She woke up and saw the sun up, but it was too comfortable to move. She had a cloud of blond hair on her face, and the girl behind it was on top of her chest.

“Morning sunshine.” She greeted as she ran her fingers on the girl's hair.

“Morn, love.” Yanna raised her head to look at her wife. “Missed you.”

“Me too.” They kissed. “Shall we stay in bed today?”

“Uhum. A friend took my shift. But… We need to make Jean's breakfast, he still gotta eat.” She said with a yawn.

“Let him sleep in.”

Yanna frowned, surprised by her answer, and raised her head with a curious expression. “When did you arrive?”

“Couple hours before dawn.” Arachne answered.

The blond gave a borderline evil smile. “Well, I know someone who will love to make their mom a bed breakfast.”
