I might have a surprise

Summary:

Arachne comes back home and has something to share

Work Text:

The secretary got up the moment she appeared in the hallway. “Miss Myriad, you have a visi-”

“Ara?” Yanna peeked from her office, the brightest of smiles made her whole face shine.

Arachne gave the faintest of smiles in return, placing a protective arm around Yanna's waist. “Thank you, you can go back to work.”

As soon as the door clicked, Yanna put her small, extremely cold hands on her face and gave her a peck in the lips.

The brunette gave a quick kiss back, but scooted away from the cold. “I didn't know you'd come.”

“I wanted to make a surprise. Haven't seen you in weeks.”

Arachne gave a small smirk. “I missed you, glikia mou.” She whispered, putting the stray blond strands behind her ear.

Yanna's cheeks turned red and her beautiful reddish eyes were melting with endearment.

She loved that sight more than she could put into words.

“I just have to finish a couple of things then we can go.”

“No problem.” She pointed to the cushion surrounded by books. “I have enough to study, Arachnetsa.”

The nickname made her heart flutter. Like so many other things.

She'd never thought that the pale girl who collapsed on her years ago would become her girlfriend, even less her wife. That they would be living together, sleeping on the same bed with a snake in the other room and a giant cat by their feet. Or that they would be living in that little old house on the river shore, spending warm nights on the garden swinging or the cold ones by the fireplace enveloped by blankets.

Arachne sat by the desk and started to work, answering emails, checking numbers and giving directions for the other teams. Like a normal day.

That was until that arrived. She read the content with a hand on her mouth, so Yanna wouldn’t see the smile growing on her lips.

“So, what about we invite them this weekend for dinner?” She asked, spinning on her chair to face the blond.

“Sure. Do you have anything in mind?” Yanna questioned, already picking her phone to send the invitation.

“Incredibly, I feel like cooking.”

“Ooohhh.” Yanna looked up with a grin. “What are you gonna do? Salmon?”

“Maybe with some pasta...” Arachne stared. “How do you feel about spinach tallarim?”

“YES!”

“Dig, you need to understand how this adaptation changes everything.” Arachne gestured widely. “They are exploring much more the relationships between the characters than the overall plot, which I understand despite not being the biggest fan of it.”

The blonde nodded without paying attention and then shook his head. “I don’t get it.”

“You will, I’ll buy tickets for us the moment it arrives in the West End.”

Yanna chuckled, turning to talk to Hypnos. “Do you think she’ll ever stop being this excited about musicals?” He arched an eyebrow to her.

“Your wife, how could I know ?

“Agapi mou, can you pick the desert from the oven?” The brunette asked, tilting her head towards the kitchen.

“Lazy.” Yanna teased, pinching her cheek as she passed by her, letting her hand slide on the counter as she crouched in front of the oven, opening it.

She stared confused at the tray.

There was just a loaf of bread.

She opened her mouth to complain but then it dawned.

And she screamed.

In a flash Hyp was next to her and Dig right behind. “Is everything okay? Did you burn yourself?”

She got up gesturing at the oven and placing both hands in front of her lips. Wildly looking to her wife and down, flapping her hands without being able to contain the excitement, and finally the woman got up from her chair walking towards them.

“Oh my god, oh my god. Ara!!” She screamed, launching herself at her. “We did it! Oh my god.”

Arachne chuckled, hugging her back, their friends had confused expressions, with a difference. Dig had no idea of what was going on and Hypnos was trying to process it.

“You’re pregnant?!” He asked bewildered.

“Wait, pregnant?” Dig frowned. “OH! A bun.”

“Yep.” Arachne’s grin didn’t fit her face. “Due next week.”

“What?”
