Summary
“Look at this!” Hanji cries, plunging her hand into the pool of water over Levi’s hurried objections. She pulls her hand back out with some kind of creature cradled in her palm. It was bright red and shaped like a five-point star. Against his better judgement Levi leans in for a closer look.
“What the fuck is that?”
“I have no idea!” Hanji says cheerfully. Levi looks up into her grinning face and feels something twist in his stomach. He takes her in piece by piece; the flyaway brown hairs lifting in the breeze, the sweat beading on her forehead, the smudge of dirt just above her jawbone. His hand twitches. He wants to rub it away, and a few months ago he probably would have. There was something between them now, an invisible barrier that was slowly calcifying day by day.Hanji makes Levi look at weird little sea creatures. Levi makes her process some feelings.
