Chapter Text
Dream walked through the halls of Oakland academy with his best friend Sapnap. The halls were crowded with all the other students meaning it was a little tricky to walk through. It didn’t matter that much to Dream as he was pretty popular and he was pretty superior to everyone in his opinion, they wouldn't dare get into his way.
“You know what? One day I’m gonna make onions cry!” Sapnap exclaimed, pushing some random kid out of his way.
“Huh? What?” Dream replied, realising he forgot to listen to Sapnap. He was zoned out thinking about how much better he was than everyone.
Sapnap looked at Dream and shook his head, letting out a sigh. “You weren’t even listening? How far are you up your own ass?”
“What? Where did this come from?” Dream asked. This better not be an attack on how much better he was than everyone, because it was the truth and some people didn’t like the truth very much. Couldn’t be Dream though, not surprising as he was better than everyone.
Sapnap looked away, looking upset. “Doesn’t matter, you never listen to anything I say.” He told him sadly before quickening his pace and walking away from Dream.
Dream didn’t say anything in reply and just watched as Sapnap left him. ‘ His loss I guess .’ He thought to himself. He carried on walking, not really paying attention to anything. He had to go to everyone’s favourite class first, maths.
Many people in the school absolutely despised maths, and Dream couldn’t understand why. It was actually a fun subject in his opinion and Dream was really good at it. Then again, it was Dream, he was better than everyone. He got the highest grades in the class. One time some person approached him and said they thought he was failing all his classes and dream was extremely offended by that. Did some people really think that lowly of him?
Before he knew it, Dream had reached his classroom. He opened the door and all eyes were him. What? It wasn’t like Dream was complaining, he was better than everyone so of course they all looked up to him. He gave them a smug look before beginning to stroll to his desk.
“Wait you weren't lying, it’s really the George Not-Found.” Some random girl spoke.
Dream immediately looked behind him and saw another male.
He was short and petite with pale skin and shiny brown hair. His cheeks were rosy and his eyes were also brown. ‘ Brown hair and brown eyes? Fucking boring .’ Dream thought to himself. This guy was no big deal, he looked like your classic npc.
Dream looked back in front of him and saw the people looking at him. Then he realised. They weren’t looking at him, they were looking behind him. At the boring background character. What was so intriguing about him? Dream angrily reached to his desk and sat down.
The maths teacher slapped his hands on his thighs and stood up from his 23 year old desk chair. “Right! Hello class. As you can see we have a new guy joining us today. His name is George as you all probably know.”
So this guy looked like a default skin and had an auto-generated name? Boringggg. Dream yawned and rested his head in his hand trying not to fall asleep.
“No he’s not new to school as again, you all probably know but, he is new to our class. George got a super high grade in his maths test so now he’s in set 1. He’s probably smarter than everyone in this class so don’t underestimate him, ok?”
No one replied to the teacher.
There was no way he was smarter than Dream though, so Dream didn’t feel threatened by him. Another reason Dream wasn’t threatened by him was because he was so fucking generic . Dream wasn’t generic though. He was super cool and creative.
First of all, his name was Dream. How cool is that? Next his hair and eyes were different colours, his hair was blond, a much less common colour than boring old brown and his eyes were a beautiful shade of green. Not many people had green eyes. Another cool thing about Dream was that sometimes his hair would go brown too. But it wasn’t an ugly basic brown like George, it was a beautiful golden brown. The colour of his hair depended on how long and short it was.
“Anyway, George, please take a seat next to *insert kid name here*” The teacher told him.
George didn’t say anything in response and sat next to the kid. He was like 3 seats away from Dream.
Nothing interesting really happened for the rest of class. It was just revision work for some test they had in… well Dream forgot to pay attention to the teacher so he didn’t get the date.
Dream was in his own little world during all of that lesson, just thinking. He was thinking about the npc George of course. George didn’t really do much in class, he was just there. The only reason Dream kept thinking about him was because he wasn’t dumber than Dream.
This was a huge problem.
Dream was the one in the class that never got answers wrong but in today’s lesson when the teacher marked the questions everyone got something wrong excluding Dream ...and George too. How dare he do that! Dream decided he didn’t like George very much.
He was going to complain to Sapnap about this.
Next lesson was Pe and Sapnap was in his class. Dream walked to the gym and found Sapnap.
“Hey Sapnap!” Dream greeted.
Sapnap looked at Dream and turned away from him. Not giving him a single reply. Dream furrowed his eyebrows. “What the fuck Sapnap, who pissed in your cereal this morning?”
Some random girls who walked past them let out a stifled laugh. That means they found Dream funny. Man he was so better than everyone.
“You did, Dream!” Sapnap snapped.
Dream raised an eyebrow. “Huh? How so?”
“You never listen to me because you’re so fucking self centered, you spend all your time up your own arse!”
“What the hell man!” Dream raised his voice, catching the attention of everyone around them. “I haven’t done anything wrong to you! You’re imagining it all. You're always causing problems for no reason Sapnap, what’s your deal?”
“What’s my deal?! What’s your deal Dream?! You see you’re doing it again, you’re not listening to me!” Sapnap’s voice was also raised, he crossed his arms crossly before looking at the ground, tapping his foot lightly.
“I am listening to you, but you’re making no fucking sense! You have something against me don’t you? Everyone does, this whole world is against me sometimes! I thought we were friends Sapnap. I considered you my best friend but just like everyone else, you have some sort of imaginary problem against me. Just admit you hate me. Everyone does…” Dream’s voice became low and mumbled, his eyes also on the ground.
Everyone who was watching this felt bad for Dream. Sapnap looked up from the ground and saw everyone giving him dirty looks and judgemental glances whilst whispering to their friends.
“Dream, I didn’t say anything like that.” Sapnap replied, his voice no longer raised.
“Oh so now you’re trying to gaslight me. Real fucking cool Sapnap.”
There were some boos and someone threw an apple at Sapnap.
“I…” He said sadly, voice shaky, “Fine then Dream, if that’s how you want it..” he then walked away from the blond.
Dream watched as Sapnap left and in all honesty he couldn’t care less. He didn’t say anything in response and looked around for someone different to complain about George to.
He looked around and saw that everyone was giving him pitiful looks.
“Are you ok?” some random guy asked.
Dream gave them a sweet smile, “Yep!”
The guy nodded, “He seems like a dick, if you ever need someone to hang out with I’m always here. My name’s Karl by the way.”
“Ok thank you Karl. I’m Dream.” Dream replied, he stood next to Karl who was a bit shorter than him. He decided this guy would replace Sapnap as his best friend.
“Nice to meet you Dream. Anyway Pe actually doesn’t suck much. People are just lazy bitches nowadays and don’t wanna exercise. I swear they can’t even go up one flight of stairs before having a fucking asthma attack.”
Dream let out a small laugh, this Karl guy seemed so cool already, they were going to definitely get along well. “For real.”
Suddenly everyone around them started walking in this one direction. It turns out the Pe teacher was there and was going to the register before everyone got changed. Dream and Karl followed them all and they stood in this crowd of students.
Dream scanned everyone and it mostly just boring people but then something caught his eye. It was Sapnp but he was talking with someone.
With George .
Oh god, this was terrible.
