Thomas’s arms tighten about him. “I nearly thought I’d forgotten you,” he says.
James pauses, his fingers in Thomas’s hair, then pulls back to look at him. Near as they are, the shadows make Thomas’s expression difficult to read, but enough light reaches them that James can make out the blueness of his eyes, stark against the dirt still smudged across half his face. “And do you remember me now?”
